Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

Saying "Wii U games are hot" is not enough to please GAF IdeaMan, you should know that by now. And Harker too i suppose. He should have given a little more details like "It looks much better than BF3 on PC" or something similar, if he didnt want GAF to go crazy.

You've seen the news about the media agency present at the conference that i've posted the page before. And harker didn't say just that.

But i understand the super-ultra-anticipation here :)

I really just want Mario to return to platforming that isn't spherical. Loved the Galaxy games but damn if I didn't feel like I was fighting perspective half the time...

You're rather hard guys, an apparently confirmed developer is giving you hints of the good impressions generated by some Wii U games at the GDC

And a media agency present in the conference is indicating that the Wii U is at the heart of the discussions of the hundred of attendees, all professionals from small to the biggest studios.

It's news.

It's not Mario Universe screenshots, it's not a complete spec sheet, but it's news, relevant to the topic & the GDC.

Now, if you prefer talking about Zelda SS for the 100th time and forbid these kind of infos... :)

So it exists!? D:

Hm yeah, i missed that french canadian article, and lucky me im french canadian!

Somewhere in that article, he mentioned Epic and its Unreal Engine 4 that will be shown in the following days and it says "designed for this newcomer".

Hopefully the guy who made that article know what he is talking about.

you should try 3D Land.

Is a new Mario that feels old. Slow paced gameplay heaven that feels fast.

Its just perfect.

Well, the level design in SMG2 was a lot less spherical than SMG1. Can't say I want another Super Mario Sunshine, but I'd sure welcome a mix between SM64 and Galaxy.

My face went from :| before GDC to :( and it will go to :''''''''''(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( to X| weeks before E3 then hopefully to :O :D 8D during.

I want a follow-up Mario game with mechanics like SMB2/Doki Doki Panic. Pick your player out of Mario, Luigi, Peach, amd Toad. Imagine riding a Birdo egg through 3D space while little Ninja guys and Bob-ombs below await..

Where's Ace?

Haven't seen him in a while.

Probably off somewhere working on the next Speculation Thread OP.

Either that, or seducing another developer.
(I tried to last night.. but my game was waaaaay off. At one point, I insulted Western game developers in general, thinking it would seem endearing and suave to my target.. and he turned-out to be from Oregon instead of Kyoto. Poop.)

I'm in for Super Mario Sunshine 2. Loved the first game.

It's hard to know if, when he says 'HOT' whether that means real nice or jaw dropping. We really need more people's opinions to get a better idea. Of course it's nice to get any info.

If it's already shaping up and we really have heard nothing substantial about original games, then I'm going to keep my expectation as a rather muted 'current gen ports until Xmas' for third parties.

fall lineup...sooo wii u in fall?

Well, Fall is from September to November, which is about the time everyone knew it was going to be released.

When you say a Woman is HOT, are you talking about Zooey Deschanel or a curvaceous voluptuous goddess? ;)

I never thought about this, but it's an awesome idea. Bring it on Nintendo!

6! I ADORED Sunshine! :D

I'd kill for an actual sequel!

As did I, but I'm not sure about a sequel. I'd just like to see the gameplay style return. It had much more freedom than Galaxy.

Rich can't say shit if he's under an NDA (which he is). If he did say anything specific before the NDA expired, he'd have Nintenjas and Nintorneys all over him. He'd lose more than his job, no bullshit.

What else would one expect from third parties on Wii U? Exclusives? The era of third-party console exclusives is dead due to HD budgets; with occasional exceptions like Killer Freaks, the best Nintendo can realistically do is to moneyhat exclusive content for multiplatform titles.

I wouldn't want another game with FLUDD (though a Hover Nozzle-type power-up wouldn't be so bad), but I'd love to see 3D Mario go back to big worlds for a game or two. With so few 3D platforming franchises, we might as well see this one try as many things as it can.

Keep in mind, folks: it's 10am on Day 2.

We still have lots of GDC left!
Yeah, and seeing as the expo doesn't start until tomorrow at 10:00 am PST, we don't even know what Nintendo has in store at their booth, unless someone has infiltrated North Hall and taken some snapshots. I haven't seen anything like that though.

Ace is a girl? Hmm it's quite hard distinguishing men and women here in GAF due to the stereotypically male-predominant nature of this site.

I'll be very sad if there are no Wii U info during GDC. (third party announcements like ACIII do not count)

Presumably the biggest games in Nintendo's launch will be Call of Duty, Assassins Creed 3, and whatever their first party game will end up being. I think it's safe to conclude that. As for lower tier supporting titles, that's where the Darksiders and whatever else lay.

Weird, I'm interested in Darksiders much more than Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed 9.

But yeah, as far as the biggest names go, I understand.

Oh no doubt this will be the case. Which makes sense considering it will coexist with 360 and PS3 for a while.

yeah I'm speaking sales wise/big name wise.

Even though I personally dislike Darksiders, I'm sure lots around gaf are looking more forward to it than another call of duty (maybe, lol).

But yeah just speaking on the BIG name titles, it seems like COD, AC3, Nintendo game. Then you throw in some other ubisoft trash, some other good supporting titles like darksiders, medal of honor, whatever else is slated to come late in the year for all 3, and there you have a solid launch. The only thing it's missing is Nintendo to fill in the blanks for the launch/launch window and beyond to keep sales of the console strong. But I guess that's what E3 is for.

I actually have high hopes for Killer Freaks from Outer Space.

I think it's being done by one of their decent teams but I'm not well versed on all of that.

I have no idea on killer freaks but I'm sure ubisoft will have a good heft of average to shitty games for launch/launch window. It's their duty.

They should just make Killer Freaks the zombies ate my neighbours modern version.

Welp, I'm off to bed. When I come to back this thread 8 or 9 hours from now I suppose I'll be 12 pages behind and Ideaman and John Harker will have made more cryptic comments and a new hype train image will have been created. Such is life.
