Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

I have no idea on killer freaks but I'm sure ubisoft will have a good heft of average to shitty games for launch/launch window. It's their duty.

They should just make Killer Freaks the zombies ate my neighbours modern version.

If the 3DS launch is any indication, they'll have one good game, and a bunch of shit.

Ace is a girl? Hmm it's quite hard distinguishing men and women here in GAF due to the stereotypically male-predominant nature of this site.

I'll be very sad if there are no Wii U info during GDC. (third party announcements like ACIII do not count)

Nah. Ace is a guy.
(I was merely being dramatic to make a point about the lengths to which many of us would go to get Wii U info. It'd be like a joke about me seducing a female developer.. ha..)

He said the Wii U improved a lot since last E3 and some games at GDC are looking pretty hot.

Has it already been determined if that meant that WiiU's extra powah and controller makes
known or announced multi-plat games hotter than hot?

Or

New exclusive WiiU games are being shown that are hotter than the games we already know about?

Ah, well there are Nintendo female devs out there, GAF just needs to find out who they are haha.
Sorry Ace!

I don't mind the brief impressions as long as its done tastefully. Not a fan of the teasing through.

I think we're going to see something on wednesday. The french canadian story, rich's comment, etc., it feels like we're going to see some stuff this week.

Too big to read through so don't know if this has been posted... but Shin'en's confirmed Wii U support.

http://www.shinen.com/home/

With Shin'en abilities I'm guessing we'll be seeing CryEngine 10 on Wii U before Cytek is done with CryEngine 4?

Yes, that has been posted before. Ignore what I said before. Also agreed. Only company to pass Nintendo graphically on the Wii. Hell, Nano Assault looks damned amazing.

Yes, that has been posted before. Still don't know what games they made. Anyone want to fill me in?

Mario Galaxy generic clone Jett Rocket, some soon-to-be released miniature golf game for the 3DS where you have to get it close to the hole on your first shot or you have to do it over, some generic F-zero clone that looks as enthralling as Superman 64, etc...

Basically, they need to work on their gameplay and design as much as their "cutting-edge" visuals.

To pass the time I made this

I was just thinking about something. Might have been said on this topic already, though, so apologies if that's the case.

I think it'd be sublime if Nintendo would include an HD version of Super Mario Galaxy as a pack-in game with the Wii U. Not an HD remaster, just the same game but rendered at 1080p. Nice bonus for the people who already played the game and a seriously good hook for the ones who never have. To bring in some cash they could also make an HD version of SMG2, but sell that one as a separate game at launch (maybe even through the online store).

Instant money and drummed up interest for very little investment.

Or they could make Mario Galaxy Trilogy(even though there are only 2) and utilize the Tablet controller, add in some levels, all in HD and only available in the stores for two weeks.

I would buy both galaxy games, the Metroid Primes, and the Windwaker in HD on day one.

They sold you a remake/port of Super Mario Bros 1 for the GBC.
They sold you a remake/port of Super Mario Bros 2 for the GBA.
They sold you a remake/port of Super Mario 64 for the DS.

You think they are going to give you Mario Galaxy HD for free?

Hey now, they gave away Four Swords for the DSi for free, and I never thought they'd ever do that.

Also packed in one of their biggest (if not THE biggest) killer app for the Wii at no extra charge, which was a totally new game, mind you. I highly doubt they'll be doing any remakes for the time being, but I don't think it's completely impossible ;)

It's still selling for $49.99. Nobody's packing a Mario game in with the system anymore lol

They didn't give it away in Japan. It still sold very well.

If they really make a new 2D Zelda, they have to remove or simplify a lot of the complicated mechanics, in order to make it a retail succes. Cut more of the story and focus more on puzzles than on battles.

Dont touch ma 2D zelda games :P I just want a new duo of Zelda games like the oracle games.

Don't forget All Stars on Wii.

Just a reminder, EA Game Changers Event in about 4.9 hours: http://www.ea.com/1/gamechangers

Riccitiello really praised Wii U at E3 2011, so it's gonna be interesting to see if they have something for the system to present here.

Should have its own thread.

I'm thinking it's likely they'll mention the Wii U, considering the nature of the talk. They'll probably touch on mobile gaming, iOS, games engines/Origin etc. too.

I don't think we will see any big Wii U news from anybody outside Nintendo until E3.

EA could announce FIFA 13, Overstrike, NHL 13 and similar for Wii U. That'll be like the announcement of Assassin's Creed III for Wii U, nothing spectacular but nothing dull either.

It'll get its own thread when the conference gets close.

At most, EA will confirm Wii U versions for a few titles like Overstrike. But I'm not even expecting that.

This is probably a silly question, but can we expect a 3D Mario game with the launch of the Wii U? Will a Zelda game probably be released the following year?

I can't wait to have a list of the launch games.

Oh no, not at all - only multi-plat titles, online support comments, promises of games "in development".

At best we'll get a Nintendo game announcement.

Somebody doesn't want to get banned :lol

Depends, what do you consider big news?

With big, I mean really meaningful news about launch lineup, release date of the console, important exclusives. We will get some nice third party news, and hopefully some leaking suprises, but you can't count on that happening so I'm calm now and already preparing for E3.

I wouldn't expect it. The first three 3D Mario platformers took from 1996-2007. The second three taking from 2010-2012 would be mighty quick.

Yeah, that kind of news are E3 stuff.

So, Epic Mickey 2 is confirmed now.
The same source mentioned Scribblenauts U. I think we can pretty much assume that this is what 5th Cell is working on.

Anyone with half a brain could've told you that Epic Mickey 2 was happening and coming to the Wii U. It's been teased/rumored for months by various sources, including Specter.

I have a hard time believing that 5th cell is making Scribblenauts for the Wii U. That game is very portable in nature, and we also know that they're working on a 3rd person shooter, which seems much more like a home console experience. Although that game is only confirmed for the 360, it shows that they do much more than Scribblenauts.

Though the Epic Mickey 2 info doesn't mention Wii U, just..
"In this all-new action-platforming game available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii,"

Guess if it's coming to Wii U, it might be announced later or something.

It´s kinda interesting that Epic Mickey 2 is going to be revealed at 27th of March. Most likely to inform about Wii U version, I would expect.

Having said that, we also learned recently that we would get more info on AC3 for Wii U on the 23rd of March.

Even though these news aren´t big, we are at least starting to get some new info about games for Wii U. Makes you wonder, has some of the NDA been lifted? More importantly, will we get more news in the coming weeks?
I like to read into things ;)
