Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

This is probably a silly question, but can we expect a 3D Mario game with the launch of the Wii U? Will a Zelda game probably be released the following year?

I can't wait to have a list of the launch games.

Honestly, I hope not. I hope there is no Zelda or Mario.

Why?

Because with Pikmin 3, a new IP, and a slew of third party titles, the line up should be fine. Mario or Zelda would just burry the competition.

Anyone with half a brain could've told you that Epic Mickey 2 was happening and coming to the Wii U. It's been teased/rumored for months by various sources, including Specter.

Look genius, we knew about this for a while. But it was never stated that it will come to Wii U.
Yesterday we got an interesting rumor that the game is actually coming to Wii U.

Today we got the official confirmation of the game because of that event later this month - which is what I referred to. So, don't act so grumpy, even with that avatar.

I expect a Mario game in the launch "window".

I don't think "learning from their 3DS launch mistakes" is Pikmin and once again some third party semi-enticing games.

Pikmin is no system seller.

Oh, you mentioned a new IP too, ok, that would possibly work.

5th Cell certainly are working on a Wii U (probably launch) title. I don't think there's been anything substantial suggesting what exactly it is, but there has been quite a bit of "Scribblenauts U" chatter flying around, so... no smoke without fire?

I wouldn't expect it. The first three 3D Mario platformers took from 1996-2007. The second three taking from 2010-2012 would be mighty quick.

Do you know is Wikipedia's list of EAD teams and the games they've made accurate? Looking at the list of games of the team that made Galaxy, they don't seem to have been that busy since then:

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat GCN December 16, 2004 (JP)
Super Mario Galaxy Wii November 1, 2007 (JP)
Jibun de Tsukuru Nintendo DS Guide NDSi November 17, 2010 (JP)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 3DS June 16, 2011 (JP)
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition1 NDSi September 28, 2011 (NA)

I wonder what they've been doing, since I'm gussing those two two Zeldas and that Guide thing didn't take up all their resources. But since it was a different team that made Galaxy 2 and 3D Land, maybe they don't make Marios anymore.

Yeah but my hopes and dreams tell me Pikmin 3 will be amazing, have a photo-realistic + claymated aesthetic, use the tablet in an ingenious way, and have a nice meaty single player + multiplayer + DLC. I just have this feeling they are going all out, and it will sell 5 million copies.

One can dream. Fuck I love Pikmin.

My friend showed me this the other day hahaha

Oh, I'm sure Pikmin will be a stellar game for its niche audience.

I doubt it will disappoint.

When they created the second EAD Tokyo Group, they took at least 50 percent of the original team with them including most of the chief planners. The first group might be tinkering at something completely different.

Another day goes by with no new news.

If I don't hear anything meaningful from Nintendo or Devs until E3 then Nintendo can stuff it up their arse.

I think confirmation of some of these games has been pretty good news. Some of these games indicate that third parties have no reservations against the Wii U.

I just worry if the launch has AC3, RE6, Arkham City, Pikmin 3, New IP from Ubi Soft, New IP from Nintendo, AND Mario and/or Zelda.....the third parties will suffer.

Launch window is a safer assessment. Launch lineups are usually fine, it's usually the next 2-3 months that are make or break. Jan-March the following year for both Gamecube and Wii were abysmally poor.

Yeah, Mario will always eat away the sales of the other companies and it seems common sense that third party developers are once again most important to Nintendo at this time.

It didn't work that well for the Wii but this system seems in a MUCH more favorable position to at least get third parties on board until the next systems come out.

Mario at launch would sell a lot of systems but there's always that possibility of discouraging third parties when their sales go by the wayside.

I always see Mario games as "that year" games rather than launch titles.

I'd actually be surprised with a Mario game on launch day even though the game is likely well into development.

I'm a HUGE Mario and Zelda fan but honestly I think with New Super Mario Bros. Mii and the rest of the titles that are supposed to be at launch 3D Mario and Zelda needs to sit back for a while save it until next year's E3 and use it as a disruption tool, or wait until the sales start to drop then release the to maintain exposure and attachment rates.

I tend to agree at this point.

Pikmin is fantastic enough to "check that box" for first-party titles at launch. Indeed, the system will sell-out regardless because the Nintendo will see to that. And it would be box-checking without overly overshadowing third party offerings.

Mario coming out a few months later makes perfect sense. Especially if the Wii U launches earlier in the year than many expect. Imagine a September launch, and then Mario in November or early December.. with Mario and a good advertising campaign, this would sew-up holiday sales for the season. Total domination.

I can't take this anymore!!!!!!!!

I am going to freeze myself until E3

You mean just rumours on this thread, or have you heard something else?
See, this thread makes us turn on our own people!
We all need to post 1,000 times in this thread over the next two days so we can match ace's output to gain some insider knowledge. Everyone ready?

Wait, I seriously don't understand....do you or do you not know something outside of what has been posted on GAF, particularly this thread?

Is this already known?

“…you’ll want to check out issue 74 of Nintendo Gamer magazine, which has an exclusive first-look at Assassin’s Creed III Wii U. We’re the only Nintendo magazine in the world to see the game, so you won’t be able to read about it anywhere else. The magazine is on sale 23 March but we’ll have a reminder nearer the time so don’t worry about whipping out your diary to mark that date.”

Let me inject some pessimism in this thread then. Besides coming in for the circus rides, I'm really not that excited about Wii U. I'd be more excited if I knew about some games. I mean, Epic Mickey, Batman, and Assassin's Creed? Two of those are mediocre games at best, and Assassin's Creed looks like a bunch of quicktime events (and I admit I know nothing about Ass Creed besides the first game being crap). Plus, the name Ubi Soft doesn't exactly inspire confidence on a Nintendo console.

Wake me up when there's Fire Emblem, Pikimin, and an action combat brawler than doesn't play like a bunch of QTE (Batman) on the Wii U. Or brand new ideas that sounds really cool. I mean, at the very least, the first Red Steel sounded cool on paper and isn't an experience you can find anywhere else.

Yeah. We have a topic on it and the other "games" that they're saying will hit the Wii U.

So what you up, when you hit E3?
