Who knows, maybe Good Feel is making a Mario game.

To be honest though I'm still not sure I buy the whole thing about the Wii U Mario being based on the demo, seeing as that was just something a pr guy said, not Miyamoto.

Same, probably said that because he thought that's what we'd be excited to hear, even if it's nothing like the demo.

You're right. It could totally have changed. I'm only hoping for better art style and music. The Wii NSMB game played fine, so I have no problem with it being the same.

Super Mario 4?

We'll find out soon enough. E3 can't come any sooner.

Yeah, you're right it is a pretty crappy attitude in the long run. And like I said, if he's going to bother to piss on them then at least fill us in on a few specifics. And did Nintendo increase the limit greatly for eshop or just get rid of it? Did Nintendo increase the limit greatly for eshop or just get rid of it?

I agree. I totally understand that it might actually be something else. What other complaints of devs made regarding WiiWare other than file size limitations?

True, but maybe something happened behind the scenes that we don't know about. I would love someone to tweet and ask him :P

I don't actually know offhand, but there nay have been complaints over the poor advertising of the service or the relative difficulty in getting to the games. I mean, not having used it, I'm blindly assuming that it's an effortless miracle to browse through games on XBLA.

Probably downloads faster than the Wii's seeming crawl, as well. Ye gods, even the tiny, tiny NES VC games took an eternity to download!

At least E3 isn't that long away anymore, every question shall be answered!

Btw, I find it funny that Reggie basically lied to us about there being announcements leading up to E3.

Actually, I could see a repeat of what happened last year with the "Looks worse than 360/PS3 but it WAS actually PS3/360 footage" thing.

Blame the people who didn't buy Gamecube if you don't like the current direction, because that direction sold like shit and the direction of not giving a fuck about keeping the power of a system up to par with third party games, and going in a wild direction sold like crazy.

I think they'll do what they can to get third parties within the framework of the wild direction they have, but they're not going to jump through hoops to do it, because they attempted it with Gamecube, no one gave a flat fuck about buying it anyway, so they said "fuck you" and moved on and made a shitload of money.

Yeah.. I've felt pretty out of touch with most gaming culture since around the GameCube era.

They'll jump through hoops, but I think the upcoming losses might put a crimp on them throwing money around in efforts to woo third parties. We'll see advertising help, development help, maybe demos or advertising on what they have for a dashboard on their system, etc etc.. but that might be it.

If devs don't want to come along, so be it. *shrug*

well, the difference is huge
for example, they went from 45mb to 2GB for digital games and I'm sure there won't
be a limit on Wii U

Not sure what the file size limit for eShop is but from what I hear it's tons better than WiiWare.

I've noticed that these are all issues, but he seems to be acting like a baby. Again he should have known all these are issues beforehand considering his game came out later in the Wii's life cycle. Like you said before we probably won't know why he's like this until he talks.

Lol I hated downloading VC games on the Wii. I have hope for the Wii U considering downloading games on the 3DS is awesome.

We found out about AssCreed 3, NFC, Medal of Honor, 2D Mario, Pikmin@e3, 1001 Spikes, Bit.Trip2, Toki Tori 2 and that's just off the top of my head. Not exactly a flood, but it's not exactly nothing.

I just sent Oster the following tweet, will see if he responds:

"@TrentOster @Starscream8 Sry to hear was bad experience 4u, was it regarding MDK Wii Ware limits or something else if u don't mind sharing?"

Nintendo is loosening up the closer we get to E3. From the thousands of surprises that I hope they have, they could at least reveal one before E3. Like an appetizer.
I don't think so, but I have a hard time seeing it be something else.
I totally forgot about the 3DS Mario. Wii U 3D Mario will just have to wait ,it seems, or be relegated to being teased or have early footage stuffed in a montage trailer.

I didn't know about a couple of those, but I don't think what Miyamoto said really counts seeing as those weren't official announcements.

If Mario U is doable for launch they need to focus on getting that out first. Let Luigi's Mansion 2 have the fall/winter season as a more unique portable flagship title and save Mario 3DS for spring or summer, much smarter move and a simple way to avoid the "Oh noes, cannibalizing!" worries.

Nice move. I can appreciate specific complaints much, much better than vague expressions of annoyance. If they're valid, then at least more attention is shed on the issue.

Odd that Assassin's Creed III and a couple of downloadable games have been announced and some other games like Project C.A.R.S. have to take the Wii U logo off the website.

Was Assassin's Creed in the E3 2011 Wii U video montage?

Also, Nintendo likely would want to keep some bigger games under lockdown to enhance the effect of an E3 unveil.

I'm gonna get a kick out of those types of reactions. Honestly, GAF isn't going to be a sideshow - it'll have its own ring at the circus. :)

Yeah, that's been fueling speculation that Nintendo are either going to change the name of the console, or that they're being forced to hold off on using the name/logo due to lame trademark lawsuits.

Well they did say there would be an Assassin's Creed on Wii U, but didn't say what exactly. AC 3 was announced this year, so I guess they just confirmed the Wii U version to avoid confusion?

Also, have there been any whispers about Killer Freaks? I think it has a lot of potential to be a fun game.

The certification process being so long sounds like a legit complaint, and there's nothing to say that Nintendo has changed in that particular respect

True. I guess it's up to Nintendo, but knowing them the process might not change.

Wish more devs talked about their experience with WiiWare and eShop.

Absolutely. Nintendo needs to hear these things, and it'd be better for us gamers if there's constant discussion about them. If they hear back about it from multiple directions, the chances go up - even just a bit - of there eventually being consideration of change.

Even if Nintendo's process does change and become epic in its sweetness, there's no way that dev can be certain he won't be taken for another ride, so to speak. That sort of change requires lots of word of mouth for years to bring back those who have felt slighted.

Assassin's Creed was mentioned in name only during Nintendo conference developer reel. In fact, we didn't know which of the AC games would be headed to Wii U at the time. A month after E3 2011, Ubisoft's CEO confirmed it would be a new title and not a port of an old game or the upcoming release of Revelations.

Ouch. Sounds pretty bad, but I don't see why this would keep him from developing for the Wii U if they have changed.

Thanks for finding this, that's really bad if true but as pointed out before they should have known this going in so why not back out and get an MDK collection on XBL instead if Wii Ware was such a bad option? Oh well, maybe they still thought it was a good opportunity to try working with Nintendo and ignored the warning signs. Anyways, I reweeted to him thanking for the already posted answer/apologized for not noticing. Who knows, maybe he'll give a few more details if there are any. :/ Alright, time for a beer and some 'toons.

I agree. This gives me more of an insight as to why some third party dev might not have wanted to hop on a Nintendo console. Hopefully Nintendo is on top of their game this coming gen.

Yup. I'm pretty sure Nintendo has gotten an earful from devs. They also need to be friendly towards smaller devs if they want to have a lot of content on their console.

The whole process seemed shitty for him. I'm guessing they didn't want to can the game since they already began working on it. I can't be angry at him for not wanting to work on a Nintendo console.

Interestingly enough, when you search for "WiiWare certification" in Google, every article on the first page has to do with MDK2.

Like GPW says.. it's gonna be a long process. But they can do it. They've made progress in other areas, and they can do it here, too.

A lot of good can come over just one generation. Especially if sales are promising.

Well then.. looks like I have some reading to do. :)

The other thing to consider is this: since they weren't the PUBLISHERS of the WiiWare title, it's all on Interplay to resolve it. I think he's misdirecting anger at Nintendo because Interplay put all of them blame on them instead of their possibly shitty handling of the situation.

Eh, it just looks like rehashes of the same article over and over. It was just them basically saying "MDK2 is in the last phase of certification with Nintendo for WiiWare." I'm starting to wonder if Google reading my mind or something... O_o

EDIT: I'd like to take this opportunity on the top of this page to say that Pikmin 3 is going to make the E3 bird demo look like Space Invaders.

I doubt it.

Hopefully though, Miyamoto and company have had enough time to remake the game's visuals from its original(game is so old, may have started on the N64:P) form.

I've noticed. Disappointing.

As strange as it may seem for a brainwashed robot like me, I like reading about accounts where Nintendo comes-up short on stuff like this.

And Pikmin 3 is going to be the stuff of dreams. I'm stoked.
