Wii U Speculation thread IV: Photoshop rumors and image memes

Sarcasm aside, history has shown that instead of getting hyped, we should just fucking wait for the event to take place. You have people here already assuming that third party games announced for current consoles have WiiU versions that are just being NDA'd. Just setting yourself up for disappointment...God....

We don't know anything. Just wait for E3 or at least the investor conference. Stop hyping yourself up. You think Ninty fans would have learned a thing or two after all these years. At least on the console front anyway.

You expect no new third party announcements ... at E3? Um, ok.

Gamecube didn't have a "B". 3DS didn't have a very interesting "B" (streetpass/spotpass wasn't that compelling for me to jump in). Wii had a good "B" ("By the way, that remote we showed you a year ago? It knows where it's going"). DS had a good "B" ("By the way, that bottom screen? It lusts for you to tap it"). So Nintendo has a 50/50 record here in terms of features revealed well after the initial reveal of the system.

Or you can say there's slightly over a 2/3 chance for a console under Iwata.

And yet, I still want more more more, and more. Seriously, I have fun making obscure posts that no one will get with you d:
Oh Gee! I'm getting all Lovey Dovey.

I'm pretty sure I just ruined everyones life with this post.

You should just tell them "I don't care". Maybe if we post fast enough they won't realize we're Outsiders (though K.will wins because he wears a hat, yay hats!).
Nintendo were the one's to realize the SECRET that Love is Move, even if it was a Heartbreaker for so many gamers.

It's like a Midnight Circus in here, i'm gonna go eat a Marshmallow and then Pray for all of us.

What I am NOT going to do is activate that Neogaf Youtube script on this page, what a clusterfuck of links, awesomesoup

You're right - there are no third-party games in development for Wii U at all, beyond the handful of games announced last year and whatever exclusives will be shown at E3. There couldn't possibly be any other logical explanation behind the complete lack of retail Wii U announcements (the sole exception being DQX) since last E3.

I don't know how good the third-party lineup will end up being, and the platform will inevitably miss out on some multiplatform titles that it should be getting, but come on.

Don't know when I said that. Lemme restate it: it would be foolish to assume that every third party game that has not been announced for the WiiU is simply under an NDA and will be announced at E3. Of course there are third party games in development. But expectations in this thread need to be tempered and badly. And don't tell me to come on--after the GCN and the Wii, and the stigma that third party games don't do well on Nintendo platforms I have every right to be skeptical.

Expect palsy third party support at best and don't expect wonders from the online space. We buy these things for the first party support anyway, right?

Looking through your list the 3DS's B would actually be the 3D (the A is it's new & shiny = better graphixx), that might not be a thing for everybody but it's pretty nice ;P

I wonder who would be the survivors.

If the GAF apocalypse came as a result of fanboy wars, there would only be one group left..

And GAF's character would be gone..

That is actually pretty much confirmed at this point. No 3rd party is allowed to announce Wii U games right now. The only Wii U games announced since E3 2011 were Dragon Quest X and 1001 Spikes, and both games were revealed at Nintendo events.

Nope. I buy it so I can own it, and I'm happy the Wii U actually will have third-party support. I don't have to upgrade my computer as often.

No. 3D was not a feature revealed well after the reveal of the 3DS. It was very nearly the first feature revealed.

edit:

some website said:
With the DSi XL barely cooling off from a recent release, Nintendo have finally announced today the true successor to the Nintendo DS. Called the "Nintendo 3DS"

In fact, in the initial reveal of the system the 3D aspect was the first feature mentioned. It preceded any note that the 3DS was "new & shiny".

Precisely. I personally am not impressed with many online features, and only expect one or two good third-party titles per year. Anything more is a pleasant surprise.

Who said this? Batman, Aliens, and Darksiders 2 and Assassin's Creed is third party support? Two of these games will have been released by the time the WiiU comes out.

Beat me to the punch.

Last I checked, those games come from, umm.., third parties.

I guess scraps must count for something. Third party support must continue from now until the end of the WiiU's lifespan. It's that simple.

Edit: That said i'll probably buy every one but I want relevant support every year.

Yup.

Remember those "3DS on par with 360" rumors? Hype was on another level.

That was just a misquoted interview or news bit mentioning that the Resident Evil game used modern graphical features found otherwise only on HD systems. People are incredibly apt to completely misconstrue what they hear.

Hmm. If you're a Nintendo-only console owner, those aren't exactly scraps. From what I hear, they're actually quite good games. And there's still a chance that we end-up getting the definitive edition(s). I'll take 'em.

As far as consistent third-party support to the end? Color me skeptical. I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah, I played and beat Arkham City on my friends 360 4 times, but I'm still buying the Wii U version...because its FUCKING good.

Yup. I'd be surprised if the Wii U receives "decent" third party support two years after launch.

And honestly, I'd buy third party software on Wii U. If it's good that is.

Scraps???

They're big name titles that could look slightly better on the Wii U and make use of the controller.

Third party support MUST continue on from now until the end of the Wii U's lifespan to have an all around system but it doesn't have to happen for the system's success.

Nintendo doesn't need total third party support, third parties could make additional money from Nintendo.

All you can hope for is some third party developers to actually give the system a whirl and who knows???

Maybe they will realize that Nintendo fans don't only buy Animal Crossing and Smash Brothers games.

Guess what everybody? Being optimistic is better than being a kill joy and troll. I'll take a few disappointments over being pessimistic. they aren't as bad as people seem to think.

The more I hear about it, the more psyched I am.

Had you told me two years ago that I'd be looking-forward to a Batman game for a launch title, I'd've thought you were nuts - "N-V-T-S, nuts!"

Lol i shouldn't have used the words scraps, i admit. But we need those kinds of games day and date with the 720 or ps4. If that becomes a reality, then consider me a WiiU only owner. I'd love to be able to game on one system.

Edit: I'm definitely picking up Batman and ACIII at launch. My first console launch too :)

We said that last year. It was their show to lose... and they lost.
I honestly don't get why so many people hated that conference, it made me excited. I even clapped after the unveiling of the controller and after Reggie detailed what the philosophy behind the system would be.

Nintendo's silence(including third partys) before E3 shouldn't lead anyone to be overly PESSIMISTIC, they know what is at stake for them after a forgetful 3DS launch and ho-hum Wii effort(from a third party standpoint).

E3 is not going to hit and it's going to be merely Pikmin 3 and Madden 202100.

I'm not looking forward to any 3rd party games but AC3 and maybe Black Ops 2 if Treyarch continues to do what infinity ward can't.

Other than that I'm looking to Nintendo for reasons to get the wii-u at launch.

Correct, but don't assume that all the big games (i.e. the REs the GTAs etc) to come automatically either is what he's saying... at least, what I think I'm interpreting from his posts.

I would agree with that, especially in the early stages where some of these games have already been in development for 2-3 years. I think a separate team was paid to port AC3, for example, and THQ has given its Wii U port squad like 4 people and a goldfish (it's not the main team doing that version).

That's just because you were excited about the design and programming ideas it opened up for the next Metroid Prime.

Really? You didn't want to replay it once to get all the trophies or beat it on New Game+? Its actually one of the few games I've wanted to replay over and over again.
my trophy getting standards are high. I can only do it if I'm thoroughly having fun the whole way through. If for one second I feel like like I'm just going through the motions or plodding through it, I'll just stop :P

I got there eventually with arkham city in my first playthrough, where I did a lot of the side stuff, and then I hit the aforementioned point.

It's just that this thread is mostly about having fun. Being all HYPE HYPE! is just part of the fun.

The "Serious Business" part of GAF treads lightly here, because that stuff's boring. At E3, no matter what happens, we're going to enjoy ourselves (save for the people who actually do meltdown and get banned, but they're a relative rarity).
