Yeah, I was just looking for the investor conference time and noticed that. It'll be interesting to see what they say, though it'll almost certainly have nothing new to us specifically.

It's sad to see it happen, but I think aside from the occasional throwback joke our heydays are over man. The cutting edge of GAF humor is video. TimDoughs and WiiRevolutionaries.

Hell man, you don't even sound crazy anymore compared to the rest of them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to splash on my makeup and put on some assless chaps when the occasion warrants it, but I think it has ended. Sucks, but what you gonna do? If it's any consolation your infamy lasted at least two to three times longer than mine.

The core of GAF humour was always serious business types doing banworthy things. This is still with us and may even reach new heights come this year's E3.

None of them really do anything interesting though.

It use to be Santa rape porn and admittance of forced incest. Now it's lame flame outs and homophobic or sexist rants.

Yay, Nintendo Direct! Hope there's some new stuff shown. I'm sure no Wii U info will be released but I look forward to the 3DS stuff.

I'm with you on that.

Though I think Prime 1 did a pretty good job. I'd love to see Retro go crazy with the WiiU and a new Prime... but I also want to see them do something else. I'd give them the go ahead to come up with something new.

I'd really like to see a Nintendo open world game. Mach Rider could be a cool one to go for, or a NWRPG.

I'm just giddy to see what Retro is doing.

There's very little coherency to my posts is there? Reading that it seems like my brain is scattered or something.
 
Do we all agree that The Retro game is likely a launch game? Or at the latest launch window? That's the only thing stopping me from believing that it is an FPS. Why go up against Call of Duty.

I still say it's an action game of some sort.

Normally I'm all for bright colours in video games as the industry progressively goes monochrome, but I think Metroid should go darker.

Inspired by your list, I attempted to rewatch Nintendo's 2006 E3 conference so I could make sure I was remembering the announced first party titles correctly. I say attempted because I stopped watching as soon as Nintendo started showing Red Steel. Fuck that.

Nintendo showed, in order:
Wii Music
Wii Sports
Excite Truck
Super Mario Galaxy
The airplane minigame that later showed up in Wii Sports Resort
Metroid Prime 3
Wii Play
WarioWare
Twilight Princess
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Fire Emblem
Project Hammer
Brawl (Was not present at the conference, but shown the next day)

So 12-ish games. As a side note, Raving Rabbids was initially shown as Rayman 4. Hahahahaha. :(

Additionally, Google tells me that Nintendo showed 12 first party games during E3 2010 for the 3DS.

Clearly this doesn't mean that Nintendo will show 12 first party games for the Wii U, but it doesn't seem totally crazy to expect that many games.
 
Just back from my evening walk.. so we have Direct tomorrow, eh?

Seems funny, but I know where I'll be spending my Friday night! Woo hoo!

Retro aren't an enormous team, 2 1/2 years is definitely not extreme for an 'extremely visually impressive' title on a new HD platform.

There could be a crunch period to get the game ready for a playable E3 demo.
