Halo 4
I don't know anything about the Wii U, but I'm excited to hear about it. But at this point, everything about Halo 4 is looking to be right up my alley.

If the Wii is any indication (and it may or may not be), it'll be about a month before Launch Day. Preorders for the Wii at GameStop and EBGames were on Friday, October 13th - and for many folks (fair warning here, hehe..) it still involved waiting in lines for at least several hours.lol stop it lol...anyways when do you guys think we'll be able to preorder this badboy..I will not go through what I did with the Wii waking up early as fuck and standing in lines only for stores to be like we only have X amount of Wiis.NO!Very depressing lol..

I'm gonna get it on Amazon, gonna have 1-click ready to go the second it's put up for preorder.
I think it comes down to understanding business. We know that Nintendo does what they do to make money, even at the expense of our wants. The third parties want to make money too, but if their engines just won't run on Wii U (UE3 for instance) without a LOT of work it doesn't make financial sense.
I do however have no sympathy for a third party who goes to the effort of making a game on Wii but makes a "lesser" version ala DeadSpace extraction. That game might have been good, but we still didn't get the full versions.

rebranding's done, tell a friend!
Neckbeard detected.
On a serious note, nobody has talked anything relevant about Wii U in a while (aside from that Shane guy). I'm seriously thinking they are keeping whatever secrets they have close to the chest until the big burst at E3, and whatever info it is will give them a leg-up above everyone for a while.
My thing is this:see, i know you save a bit on the taxes, but...i gotta be in the mob, man!
i remember i was first in line for gamecube at TRU, but i was kinda in bad shape after an accident, so i was on crutches. motherfuckers actually knocked me over once the doors opened...i lost a few spots, but i tripped both of them with my other crutch! shit was satisfying, and really, you miss little moments of humanity like that staying home and ordering.
It was really interesting when they asked Namco if they have anything in development for Wii U, Namco said that they just couldn't talk about it right now (obviously sounds like they are working on Wii U) I think Nintendo wants Sony and Microsoft to expect a really lame 3rd party showing for Wii U, and then prove them wrong, what I find most interesting though is that Shane had said that western studios are all pretty much on board but that they haven't heard much from the Japanese developers.
We have been assuming that Nintendo will get the Japanese developers rather easily, and one of the people in the video said right afterwards that they believe that the Japanese developers are simply staying quiet for Nintendo... That makes sense to me, especially with Namco's reply, that is exactly how it sounds: "are you working on any Wii U games?" "sorry, we can't talk about it."
This could be the E3 that stuns the industry, Nintendo taking not only the console lead but third parties all have a ticket.
Like HylianTom I'm definitely leaning towards doing a midnight launch and getting a head start on enjoying the system. That may mean pre-ordering at Walmart but so be it (assuming they do pre-orders, do they?)
HT I both applaud your passion and worry for your sanity! My thing is this:
I take off a whole week for Launch Day. Always do.
If I were to order online, I'd have to wait for it to arrive by UPS. Knowing UPS' typical delivery pattern, I usually get my packages between 4PM and 8PM. And they have been very sketchy on "Same Day Delivery" - sometimes it doesn't live-up to its name.
So, going with best-case scenario with UPS, I'm playing my new system sometime around 4PM. That's nearly a whole day of vacation time wasted with me bouncing off the walls, peeking through the peephole, reading about happy people on NeoGAF playing with their favorite new system, not wanting to go to the bathroom for fear of missing a knock at the door, etc. Not cool.
With a good preorder and a store that's doing a midnight launch, I'm home by 1AM, setting-up my system, choosing an online screenname (if we have to), etc. Party time starts much earlier than with the UPS scenario. And for the weeks going up to Launch Day, I can relax and not worry about whether I'll actually get one, preorder receipt safely locked-away in my home's safe.
So I'll always intend on the brick-and-mortar Launch Day festivities.
Funny- I do Amazon or eBay for 90% of my gaming purchases, but this is the one notable exception.
Would the average Nintendo fan even know who wu tang is?

Post some of your favourite game series and I can rip on them for stupid bullshit reasons too.
Yea walmart is one of those stand in line first or get lucky type stores.Hm might get a Wii U at launch just to ensure I get the NiN handle I want.
Not sure, but Walmart would be the last place I go. It's such a mess for these sort of events. If you have a Target nearby you're better off. I don't think Walmart or Target do preorders for consoles.
Your best bet would be Gamestop or Bestbuy (if it's still alive lol) at this point.
I play games not series Ill never just buy a game just for being the next one eg "Res evil 4" did't touch 5
Shooter's are in same book as Sport and Racing genres they not move on at all and they just kick them out every year just to pay the bills with out trying, what do you need? a Room a gun and something to kill
Thanks! If I am going insane, at least I'm enjoying it, haha!HT I both applaud your passion and worry for your sanity!![]()
Truth be told, I'd be ecstatic if most of Nintendo's third-party support came from Japan. At the moment, they're my only realistic hope for Nintendo seeing any sort of measurable improvement in this arena. And thankfully, the vast, vast majority of my games come from there.

Still waiting for you to name some games. Or were you just drive-by trolling?
c'mon you guys..I dont wanna read thisIs this a Halo thread? No, Are you trolling Wii U thread maybe, Should I help you go off topic in here? No

You seemed pretty eager to give us your two-cents before, why not continue the discussion?
I think someone's just upset they're getting called out on a drive-by.
Edit: And for the record, I have a fairly neutral opinion on Halo anyways. Guess I shouldn't be such a sucker for troll-bait.
To be far I was talking about all FPS as well as Sport and Racing genres that a long drive-by, You guy are being being defensive about Halo. I dont see why any one would be excited for a new FPS at E3

Deal, like they always have. With the 3DS, Nintendo tried to play nice with the third parties by delaying their big first party AAA games until after the launch window. That failed. Even with a decently solid lineup in the first few months, there just wasn't anything to really draw the gamers, and without the gamers, third party support dried up - games were canceled or delayed, publishers stopped hiring developers to make 3DS games, some big developers got out of the handheld business entirely. Even dropping the price didn't really help, until Nintendo had released Zelda, Mario, and Mario Kart. The combination of those games, however, revived system sales to a huge extent. But then what will third parties do when they have to unfairly compete against Nintendo's own first-party efforts?
Wu-Tang Clan presents Chess Boxing for Wii U!if not, it's a fine time to educate the masses on the 36 chambers nahmean

Many - not all - Western developers seem to be in some sort of middleschool/highscool/fratboy dudebro tunnelvision mode where Nintendo is still kiddy and everything needs blood and/or tits and/or guns - and if you can't see the individually-rendered hairs on a character's aereolae swaying along to the precise direction of the breeze, then the game will SUCK.. don't bother making it, dude!
Then, I see these little skateboarders on the MTV, and maybe I'm being a grumpy old man or something here (?!), but I find myself saying, "oh look.. there's the target audience. How adorable. I wonder when their mommies are picking them up from the skatepark." Which, intellectually I know isn't true, but damn if it doesn't seem that way sometimes.
So yeah. Japanese developers FTW. I love love love and am obsessed by certain Western-developed games, but the industry and media here almost feels like high school: "dude, you can't be seen in public with Nintendo, man! That's nuts! Your coolness stock will plummet and the in-crowd won't invite you to any of their parties! Stay away, bro!"
Wu-Tang Clan presents Chess Boxing for Wii U!
Take control of your Mii or favorite rapper and see if you can handle the 36 Chambers of Brain and Pain. Are you smart and strong enough to defeat The RZA to become the champion*? Sit down and relax your mind for a round of chess on the touch screen, but be prepared to get up and fight with the Wii remote and nunchuk, and then calm your nerves again as you plan out your chess strategy.

Precisely. And Nintendo most likely wants to sell as many Wii Us as possible before the launching of the 720 or the PS4. Gotta get that head-start on userbase, the mindshare, the momentum.. whatever buzzword terms you want me to use. The best, most surefire way is to put some truly big first-party gems on store shelves - gotta tempt people!Deal, like they always have. This is the exact tactic that Nintendo said they were going to change, they now know they need to launch with big guns to get a good core audience and not lose momentum. Allowing third parties free reign at the start with no real first-party competition, actually hurts third parties more than having to compete with a launch Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kart...
Yeah I only knew about it cause I saw a segment on TV on it once. Shit it'd actually be fun if there was a decent enough user base for local and online multiplayer.^all of my moniez
i was gonna talk it up some more, but you just made me realize: chess boxing is a real thing. holy shit, i have to step up my game 2 in arts now.
Well that is what I found most interesting, Namco didn't say No, they would have if they weren't working on anything, they could of said something like "not at this time" or whatever, but then again, Namco and Nintendo are pretty close if my memory serves me right, Nintendo even has some stock in the company, and just hired one of their talents that fell from Sega originally, and moved him to NST, so I am pretty sure Japanese devs are keeping tight lipped because Nintendo wants them to.
As for western devs, well I think all the major ones will be there... EA is on everything, Ubisoft already has it's biggest franchise on the Wii U (AC3) and I don't see Capcom not porting over RE6, heck they might bring RE5 over... I think Nintendo has a lot to prove, but I think they also have a lot to show at E3 that will change a lot of peoples perceptions of the company... If I could ask for anything on Wii U, it would be GTA5 to be there at E3, that would be a big thing IMO.
Thankyou for that linkPrecisely. And Nintendo most likely wants to sell as many Wii Us as possible before the launching of the 720 or the PS4. Third parties will have to, like you say, deal. Make a good game - and advertise it! Pretty damn simple. If the game fails in the marketplace, they have no one but themselves to blame. I've grown very tired of them not wanting to take any responsibility for their games not selling well.
And to the gentlemen sniping at each other.. please stop? I hate to see y'all fighting.
Here's something to make everyone a bit cheerier: a link to the E3 2006 Nintendo Conference Thread. You can feel the ultra-thick tension before and as it begins.. people were soooo nervous. Coming off of the GameCube's unimpressive ~20 million sales, a lot of folks were quite worried about Nintendo's future. A motion-controller console named "Wii?" That wasn't very powerful under the hood? The odds didn't seem to be in Nintendo's favor, did they?

What was the 2007 conference like? Sandwiched in between the best and worst, strange to think how much changed over 2 years.
Thankyou for that link![]()
Edit - RZA came out with an iOS chess app recently, he can step it up to the next level!

Agent Unknown said:Well no, but SMG in 720/1080p would be amazing. If the Dolphin emu can do it, why not Nintendo? And upscaling = such as when putting a regular DVD into a Bluray and getting a higher resolution.
Dreamwriter said:]Unfortunately, the name Wii is here to stay. I mean, Wii has sold far more units than the NES in its lifetime, and the NES was so popular Nintendo's followup console was "Super NES". Then they dropped NES from the name when they went 64-bit, and the system flopped. Nintendo ain't gonna make that mistake again.
