I'm not worried about Japanese third-party support for Wii U. Nintendo has better relationships with them compared to western devs. Besides, with the exception of Ubisoft, pretty much the rest of the Wii U's currently announced titles are mostly ports. They're playing it safe.

Didn't he say Monday?
Though I hate the way he's doing this...
Nah, because if he did, you would see that stuff on every blog. This is how we roll in this thread, and almost every Nintendo blog or website is watchin'. 8)
The last couple bits of information he disseminated were spontaneous and not pre-announced. Give him some credit.

foolish to think they'll be much more than relegated to the casual oriented games though. I fully expect it to only be used in the Wii _____ games and local multiplayer stuff like those minigame things they showed, chase mii and all that.
3rd party devs either WON'T implement at all (likely), or will make it a secondary form of control as an option. Whether the wiimote is packed or not, the wiiU IS the uPad. That's the experience they are pushing.
I'm with DragonKnight. Honestly I wouldn't mind if next-generation there was no such thing as a third party exclusive. Everything goes on everything no matter what. Leave the differentiation competition up to the manufacturers themselves, and their in-house studios and online services and all that jazz.
Yeah, but shouldn't be doing this at all. If he wasn't to split things up to keep the thread alive, fine. I'd do the same to a degree. I just don't like him letting this fame go to his head.

I don't expect any exclusive third party titles. And I really don't care. I just want the games.
What information?

Hrmm assuming that I recorded it properly:
#8928, IdeaMan notes that third party devs are not aware of a Nintendo-branded hard drive as of mid-April
And possibly also unannounced was:
#6597, IdeaMan: not powerful enough to render to TV and two DRCs at max settings
Yeah, it's the main thing I'm worried about too. They really need to fix that this time out, this platform is aiming for way too broad of an audience for them to be able to go it alone.
With JP devs, we'll see. I figure it's mostly NDAs right now and we're just hearing less due to cultural differences. Won't know for sure until E3 though.
Only one I'm not too sure about is Konami, Kojima seems to have a stick screwed really far up his ass WRT Ninendo, never really understood what the deal was with that.
I'm ready for Excite Racer. Cars, trucks, bikes, robots, boats, planes, whatever!
I'm not saying it won't be in games though, like your COD example, I'm saying it'll be a secondary option for control only when devs choose to implement it. Only time I see it being the primary method is for some random party game or WiiU sports or something. It all comes down to if a game benefits from pointer controls. I think Activision will probably put pointer controls into BlOps2, just because fans were incredibly happy and receptive to it in the CoD Wii title. And that will set the tone for the Wiimote continuing to be a viable control method. The main point of the Upad is that now developers don't have to feel PRESSURED into using it, they can use it in titles where there's a legitimate gain for using it.
Like, if Namco wanted to do a Time Crisis on WiiU, do you think they'll use the PAD for controls? FUCK NO. So again, it's all about where it fits best.
Has Super Idea Man posted his information yet?
I must have missed this. What type of info does he say he has?
He forgot to mention that Nintendo is working on a new peripheral for Wii U that will be included with a game that I can't name yet without getting in trouble. *eye roll*
I must have missed this. What type of info does he say he has?
Informative Info.
Konami were rumored to be making a Contra game for Wii U or 3DS but we haven't heard anything since. I get the feeling Castlevania, MGR:R and MGS5 won't be making it though. It's disappointing, but as I was trying to point out earlier. The reason Epic Mickey 2 & Tomb Raider aren't making it to Wii U is because they were too far into development to port it over. Now take into account that Resident Evil 6 probably started development around the same time and that it will likely make it to Wii U at a later date has me cautiously optimistic. Then there's the problem that Durango & Orbius will be significantly more powerful leaving Wii U in the dust and I get let down again. Thus repeats the cycle. I should just stop posting until E3.
Has he ever posted something that gives him any credibility? I don't frequent this thread quite often enough to shake my skepticism... but I want to believe.
Oh, there will be exclusives from third parties. Just look at the Wii launch line-up. The quality was so-so, but there was a lot of exclusives. And with Wii U theyre not limited by hardware, and it doesnt have controllers that require a brand new control scheme. Traditional dual analog + touch screen is not going to be trial by error in the same way motion+IR was.
he's posted quite a bit of information over the past couple of threads but it's not as if he's verified or anything. what I can tell you which should aid in his defense is that he's spoken with a verified dev on here who has actually worked with the console and that poster believes his legitimacy so that should count for something

Yeah, good point, thanks. And not going to Walmart = not supporting an evil corporation and less chance of me getting robbed of my system in the parking lot.Best Buy lines are awful too. So do both Target and Gamestop make an exception and do midnight launches? Sorry if this sounds ignorant but one of the few times I've bought something game related at midnight was SMG 2.
You just summed up my fears
Well at least that is a tick in the right direction. And I guess he can't go into to much detail for the risk of being murdered in his sleep.

lherre said:Ideaman and me talked via pm and we "exchanged" info about wii U. I think that he has good info in some ways, but you have to understand that this info can be subjective too (for example in the perception that his "friends" can have about the machine), just like mine.
I'm not trying to legitimize him (only the mods can) but I think it can be interesting to hear what he wants to say (or his connections allow him to say).
You just summed up my fears
He has certainly posted more concrete things than what I posted above, but his stuff is always just enough within the realm of reason that they sound reasonable, and he does a good job of downplaying both rampant pessimism and super-hype optimism. There is no data that he has disseminated which can be explicitly verified (but this is true of pretty much any leak we've heard from anybody so far). However, this earlier post of mine:
lherre is considered confirmed by the mods, so IdeaMan is… second order confirmed, I guess. His alibi for not being directly confirmed by mods (which is actually a reasonable alibi) is that he is a former journalist, not a current employee of a developer or publisher, so there is nothing that could actually be confirmed which would guarantee that he has access to a devkit.
don't you guys think you're being a bit too cynical on the matter?

Even if Ps4/Nextbox are really powerful... it's doubtful that many developers are going to be spending all that money on those games when they can just be cheap, and make games across PS3+/WiiU/360+.
Kind of like how Wii was cheaper to develop for than PS3/360?

except the Wii U unlike the Wii is modern enough that the ability to multiplatform the same version exists.

Not if it won't run UE4. We didn't see PS2/Xbox development continue because of Wii. It's the same logic.
Actually we did. PS2 got quite a few Wii ports. Not if it won't run UE4. We didn't see PS2/Xbox development continue because of Wii. It's the same logic.

Well if lherre is a believer then I guess I'll, as suggested, at least listen. But e3 can't come soon enough.
The question is, who will buy such multiplatform versions for Wii U when people can play them on a console they already own?
