Has anything happened of interest in the last month? I just don't have the time to keep up with this thread, plus it seems to go up and down (in emotion) by the hour.
Iwata old comments:
“As we will showcase the Wii U at E3 in June this year, the detailed announcements must wait until then, but we are aiming to make a system which shall not be forced into competing with the others where the contenders can fight only with massive developer resources and long development times as their weapons”
“When you look at Nintendo’s software, extraordinary rich graphics, massive gameplay volume and astonishing rendition effects are not necessarily the appealing point. It is, in fact, important for us that our games are appealing in other ways as well”.
“As I mentioned, it is true that, in some software areas, we need to be engaged in the power games. Take The Legend of Zelda franchise, for example, the fans must be looking for the graphic representations that they do not see as cheap at all when the title is released for the Wii U.
“When it is necessary, we do not hesitate to roll out our resources”.
While Nintendo hasn't flat out stated that the Wii U won't be equal to or noticably better compared to the 360 and PS3, Nintendo's showing signs of attempting to balance console power with controller innovation, affordability, and a better online service. Nintendo goes with what is adequate and not what is excessive.
“We’re trying to do that by finding the right balance between the CPU and the GPU, the graphics processor, and bringing all of that together with the ability to take advantage of the HD capabilities of the system, and wanting to do the most that we can on that front as well.
“We’re very sensitive, of course, to trying to do all of this at an appropriate price. So I don’t know that we would be able to sit here and say that it’s going to necessarily dramatically outperform the systems that are out now. It’s part of the balance that we strike in terms of trying to find entertainment that is new and unique.”
"According to the report, Harada doesn't think Nintendo is planning to enter the graphics race with the Wii U. Instead games will stand out courtesy of the touchscreen controller and the unique features it enables."
When's the Nintendo-loss-thing?
At what time will we get the results?
I forgot about those comments. Thanks for posting em, Oddduck.
So what's going on tomorrow? Some kind of Nintendo meeting or event planned?
Weren't they talking about accessing the eshop from PC/phones/etc some time ago, or did I make that up?
If anyone else wants to add me. Feel free. I have room for about 20 more. LOL

I actually have GameCenter CX Swapnote stationery. I can send it if you like.
Investors meeting.
""It is not necessary for us to deploy a huge number of people in order to develop such games," he continued, stating that, more than ever, Nintendo is bringing in third parties when it does need to develop more graphically complex titles.
"When we need massive power and have a lack of internal resources, we collaborate with outside resources and pour necessary resources to where they are needed. We are increasing the frequency of working with outside developers where Mr. Miyamoto and our internal developers alone used to develop.
Iwata spoke about it at (I think) the FY 13 Q2 investors recap. But he spoke very generally about it. We might get specifics this time?
I think Iwata has a lack of faith in Nintendo's ability to churn out gigantic graphically complex AAA Wii U games because of lack of internal resources and people.
I wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo handed Nintendo franchises to third party developers like Capcom, Sega, Konami, Namco, etc.
I don't see a chance in hell anyone gets mainline mario or zelda but the rest I could see, but obviously in a collaborative effort and nothing more.I found this quote from Iwata to be the most interesting and exciting and it tells me a lot of what to expect from E3:

Wasn't there also a Miyamoto quote about "I'm not sure if the games will look that much better"
Ummm, guys?
The investor's meeting is on the 26th in JAPAN, right?
According to a time zone converter, if they start the meeting at noon, wouldn't it ALREADY BE HAPPENING?

Added you. Heck yes I want some GameCenter CX stationery, pls add me (I have a fun swap note cartoon waiting):

What!? I never heard that they had it on their eShop...not that it's a huge deal since there's a bunch of subbed episodes on YouTube but still, the principle! Kotaku ran some of the announcer dubbed (Arino still subbed) eps that were produced way back but I don't think they bought the rights to leave them up past the initial run.GameCenter CX is that show that ran after one of the Nintendo Direct's. It's also available in the japanese 3DS e-shop, it's a guy (sorry don't know him is he a comedian or smth?) plays virtual console titles for a short time to promote them. He also royally sucks at most of them which is the charm of the whole thing hehe.
I believe your brain can be trusted.

Clearly I don't post enough in this thread.
Nah, they will be just posting their fiscal report in a couple hours. The actual investors meeting is probably the following morning on the 27th in Japan.
Assassin, a while back you said that statements similar to those in Hiltz' post were made incompatible and unsupportable as valid strategy by certain ranges of rumored hardware profiles. I'm of the opinion that this is uncharacteristic for Iwata. One might accuse him of choosing the wrong strategy but not easily, I think, of being wrong about what his strategy actually is. Do you have any new thoughts on which way this cookie crumbles?
Wasn't there also a Miyamoto quote about "I'm not sure if the games will look that much better"
Investor's meeting only concerns a very selected group of individuals so maybe it's for the best that Nintendo invites them via e-mail or letter or something. And yet the only date posted on Nintendo's Investor Relations page is the 26th, which is already upon them in Japan. Strange, if they were going to gather investors into a building to discuss things, wouldn't they post it on, y'know, the investor relations page as a separate event date?

Nah. I'm up to continue unpacking and cleaning, maybe hooking-up the Wii and setting-up my computer desk. Taking this move very slowly, being much more anal-retentive and organized than usual.Report will likely be 3-5 am Eastern Daylight time, in my uneducated opinion. Don't keep yourselves up by expecting an investor conference right then and there.
So has anyone posted the triage of Wii U rumors that the banned Nintendo site posted recently? They come from Nintendo Town, a French site.
DUBIOUS RUMOR 1: Nintendo + Epic Games = Wii U Metroid
[Slightly less] DUBIOUS RUMOR 2: Big online content media push for Wii U
DUBIOUS RUMOR 3:Wii U OS to be "mobile-based."
Source article (in French, of course): http://www.nintendo-town.fr/index.p...a-propos-de-la-wii-u&catid=84:wii2&Itemid=183
Is this directed to me? Don't use such complex wording after I've worked 12 hours today.![]()

First one debunks it immediately.

Heh Metroid on UE3, where does banned Nintendo site get these stuff lol
I've got to admit, I did it on purpose just because you said your brain wasn't in gear yet after getting back home.
Looking forward to the investor conference? Good evening, by the way.

Good evening too you as well. As has been said they will most likely have to soften the blow of releasing poor financial results, so it will be interesting to see how exactly they soften that.
The full rumor says its Retro+Epic using UE3 btw. I mean, its almost confirmed that Retro is not involved in anything Metroid. Furthermore, they design their own engines. Even further still, there would be no point in collaborating with Epic unless it was a game using UE4.
Epic making Metroid would make more sense than Team Ninja did, they are big Metroid fans, they did make Shadow Complex after all. I would be ok with this if it were to happen, which it most probably wont, but it's not impossible.
Added add me back pls
