I think it can be a great move for the franchise. Has a high probability of being a better game then Other M.
Prose, please. It's too late to process verse..I'm a bit impatient for this investors meeting to come and go.
Well, while we wait, should I write a work in verse or prose?
You are thinking about Chair Entertainment, one single development team at Epic. A team that is currently busy making the next Infinity Blade game for smartphones.Epic making Metroid would make more sense than Team Ninja did, they are big Metroid fans, they did make Shadow Complex after all. I would be ok with this if it were to happen, which it most probably wont, but it's not impossible.

Nintendo adopting middleware isn't out of the question. Especially for someone like Retro. For an english speaking US based developer with staff experienced in modern hardware, something like UE3 would be an idea fit for getting a game quickly up and running without needing to code a new engine from scratch. Japan, not so much, but Retro being based in the US makes them ideal.
Not that I believe any kind of partnership like this, but yeah.

Some big third party is going to work on Metroid. Someone that would shock us.
Even though I think the Epic + Metroid rumor is bogus, I think Metroid will be in the hands of a brand new developer.
I don't see Team Ninja getting another stab at the game.
I don't see Retro Studios going back to Metroid.
I don't see any studio within Nintendo working on it.

So has anyone posted the triage of Wii U rumors that the banned Nintendo site posted recently? They come from Nintendo Town, a French site.
DUBIOUS RUMOR 1: Nintendo + Epic Games = Wii U Metroid
This prediction makes the most sense to me..That would be an actual megaton if it were true. Obviously, it's very difficult to believe, though. I'm sticking by my groundless prediction that Retro's rebooting the entire series.
I think the reasonable thing to expect from Nintendo is that the power isn't really a top consideration. They ask themselves questions like:
What's our target audience(s)?
What software and hardware features will be compelling to that audience?
What's a reasonable cost curve for the hardware over its life cycle to ensure we present a good value proposition?
Power isn't necessarily the first consideration here. It's just a feature of the hardware the same way a camera or a touch screen is.
If you can guess what their target market and strategy is and get a rough idea of the price they intend to launch at, you can take a decent stab at what the power is like.
Probably a good idea to keep your expectations in check, but I think it's a safe bet it'll beat any current competitor handily. Even at 300 bucks with a small profit.
Oh, and iOS support? No way, Apple's their competitor and from what I can tell a large part of the Wii U strategy is a big middle finger pointed squarely in their direction.
Yeah this is one of those situations where I'm 99.9 percent sure Iwata will be giving out news lol.
If I remember correctly, there's a Q&A session where investors get to ask Iwata questions? Well that Q&A session will be a doozy.![]()

I feel like someone has thrown the smartphone question at Iwata in like four Q&A sessions already.Iwata is going to get some doozies thrown at him I bet. We saw the smartphone demands just from one quarter of poor results if I remember correctly.
If Retro isn't developing either a new IP or something like Mach Rider that might as well be a new IP, I'll be pretty disappointed in Nintendo.
Oh Im not believeing, not a fat chance I am lol..Just thinking of the possibilities..It does seem reasonable If Nintendo is really trying to get some "hardcore" gamers especially ones from 360 they buy anything epic..anyways It will bring in a whole new pool of gamers If the online is done right which epic has no problem with and If single player is done right which they have no problem with as long as it can keep the metroidness about it,It could be really good..and about the gray metroid I lol'd but really Gears 3 and Bulletstorm both were full of color and stunning to see so to say that would be kinda unfair.6

I agree with this. That said, it's like I said before the gap between Wii U and PS4/Xbox 3 will be smaller than current high end PCs and PS360. And now we see Crytek trying to cram DX11 "graphics" into DX9 hardware. I think Nintendo (as we've said in the past) is just trying to be in the ballpark of the other two. I think they will have done a good job of that.
That seems a little odd to me though. With the backing they have and their technical background, suddenly switching to a 3rd party engine instead of iterating on what they themselves can build sounds like something that would cause issues in their development process. Perhaps effecting how well their art translates into in game assets?
As you mentioned it would be quicker, but it just seems to me that they would have plenty of time to work on something like this. Although, perhaps they have licensed out a 3rd party engined and used their time customize it to fit their needs.
depends how much of a graphical upgrade it isDragon Quest X is dropping on August 2nd for Wii.
Is it safe to say it'll be there at launch for Wii U?

Was that quote from someone at Retro about making the thing that the fans want them to make a real thing or was it just bullshit? If that was a real quote, then I don't think you're getting a new IP. Fans want the same thing but shinier.
Zelda or Metroid.
This is what has me so convinced that we're going to see something from the conference.
I wonder if Iwata has different contingenies for differing levels of investor fussiness. If things get really hairy, perhaps we'll hear more than originally planned?
No matter, I kinda feel bad for him right now. Today's going to be rough, most likely.
With the exception of high end stuff like tessellation, Crytek should be ignored when they mouth off about trying to squeeze API features into a separate API. They're sneaky about that kind of shit. Much of their "DX10 exclusive!" features in Crysis could be forced in DX9, and some of their "DX11 exclusive!" features in Crysis 2 were features from DX9 Crysis. I don't for a second doubt many of Crysis 2's DX11 'features' are possible under a DX9 API. In fact, many of them have been done before. It's just Crytek being Crytek.

The Wii version will!
I would not bank on the Wii U version being ready for whenever the Wii U launches, which we can probably safely say is not August.
I could see japan getting it plenty firstWii-U having a worldwide launch? If Not Japan may get Wii-U between August and November..

I think youre right man..thats why I dont see why not..I was under the assumption that they were both the same games, the Wii U version just looks prettier. Am I wrong?

That's a good question. If the financials were positive I think everyone would agree we would get next to nothing if that. And extra "perturbedness" from investors could force Iwata's hand a little more.
Finally time to unveil that Pokemon console MMO right?
That is the main thing I want on WiiU..Nintendo needs to stop messing around seriously and do it.Finally time to unveil that Pokemon console MMO right?
Thinking about it, a lot of gamers trust Epic games, and if they were making a Metroid, especially with the online modes they are well known for, it might impel them to flock to the game. I kind of hope the rumor is true (know it's false though, lol)
And who made that E3 bird demo?? heard rumors it was epic still dont know who did it till this day..
Finally time to unveil that Pokemon console MMO right?
Here's what I want:
- the console supported 90% by Nintendo/second parties/collaborations with third parties on special projects
- better eastern third-party support for the remaining 10%
- Nsider Forum Channel
- instead of cutting-off major news outlets, Nintendo giving more interviews and breaking stories to community-run websites
- a means through which the community can vote on which projects they'd like to kickstart for the system next
Basically, I want an entire comprehensive Nintendo ecosystem that's pretty independant of the rest of the industry. Games, a community gathering spot, community news sites, etc etc. Some will see it as isolationism, but I'd say it's more a matter of self-sufficiency.
Metroid would be a waste of Epic's time.
