Who knows? Perhaps this is one of the topics that we'll see addressed by Iwata if things get too heated? They say they plan to to have full wii-u retail games for download
Gee... Can only download one game and delete it to play another

Actually, that sounds like something they would almost do
All the good things about the game were a result of Team Ninja. It pains me to say it, but Nintendo was the source of most of the shit in the game.
It was Sakamoto that demanded it only use the Remote with no Nunchuk. It was Sakamoto who made the awful story, and whose idea it was to make Samus weak-willed.
The gameplay, which is what Team Ninja did, was excellent, considering the restraints that were forced upon them.
G4: Going back to Ninja Gaiden 3 Team Ninjas last action game, Metroid: Other M, was also quite story-heavy. The story elements, however, received something of a mixed reaction among players and critics. Have you learned anything from your experience with that title, and how will you use it to improve the story presentation in NG3?
Hayashi: The story for Other M was definitely the product of Mr. Sakamoto at Nintendo. We definitely worked with them on the project, but that was all him. For NG3, weve worked with Masato Kato to create our own story. Its going to be different in a lot of ways. There are definitely things we learned from Other M by working with Mr. Sakamoto and with Nintendo that weve applied to the NG development. The actual story that you will experience here, however, will have a very different feel. A Team Ninja feel, you might say.
Which is why Nintendo should just release the target specs and be done with any confusion. It creates too much unnecessary attention on that aspect when it's not made 100% clear. With that out of the way we can get into more in-depth relevant speculation on games, services, and realistic uses for the controller. But yeah, it creates a lot of messy assumption and confusion with them being all mysterious about it.
I expect to see a lot of show time at E3 to center around stuff we don't really care about too. New casual/family titles, Nintendogs Wii U, casual apps, and otherwise Reggie hyping up stuff nobody who's there has any interest in. I also think they need to devote at least a full 10-15 stage minutes to detailing the online component.
I fail to see them have this much on WiiU when they had HDD they can sell separately
but if wiiu has the kinds of app store we all expect it to have maybe 20GB is lowballing
Fingers firmly crossed
Maybe the Wii U disk is big enough to hold all that extra data so they have no need for a 16 gig USB drive

Is it possible that Nintendo can have a partnership with Western Digital (Or their Japanese doppelganger) to release a cheap HDD or even a cheap SSD to release with/or in the Wii U?
So losses were less than expected. Nintendo (un)doomed:

To you and me, we can do that... We know HOW to do itWhy force a HDD down consumers throats' if they don't need it though? It just drives the sticker price up on the system when apparently the controller is already doing a fine job at that. The more shit in a $299-$349 retail box, the less powerful the console will be. If you want downloadable Wii U games (or GameCube, Wii), externals aren't that expensive nowadays - assuming they keep their promise that the external doesn't have to be Nintendo branded. Enough internal for some VC games, saves, patches, etc and I'm happy. Anything more, I'm fine purchasing on my own when I need to.
Well he wanted remote only because the game was originally supposed to be purely 2D. Also the gameplay being "excellent" is an overstatement. The level design was mediocre in many areas, and the pixel hunting shit was terrible. Also I think the overall plot was ok. The mystery of the space station is pretty engaging, with some neat plot twists.
In any event giving all credit to one side and placing all blame on the other is a bit silly. Particularly without knowing the exact details of what went on in the development process. The failure of the game is on both Team Ninja and Nintendo/Sakamoto, the entire game is a collection of interesting ideas and mechanics that were poorly executed.
Well, I guess Iwata won't have to use that "break-glass-in-case-of-horrible-earnings-report" Wii U information. Good for him.

True.Which means the road to E3 will be even more painful.
Hey, I'll take the good news. With more cash remaining in their big pile of NintendoMoney, they're more flexible on:Not fail as much
Hold back the revelaitons
Shit
They've gotta be close. Manufacturing usually starts just a few months before Launch Day.Final decisions on wiiu?
That sumbitch better be complete before E3
Hey, I'll take the good news. With more cash remaining in their big pile of NintendoMoney, they're more flexible on:
- final decisions regarding which Wii U hardware they can afford
- more investment into their online network
- third-party moneyhatting (or outright buying a third party)
- being able to adjust the price on the Wii U
E3 is only another 40 days or so. And perhaps M74 is correct.. it is still a loss that Iwata has to smooth-over somewhat, so maybe a taste of Wii U info will encourage investors?
Either way, I'm pretty cheerful at the moment. This was supposed to be nearly a billion-dollar loss. 10% of their cash - gone. But things are loomin' better. Not too doomy.![]()
There was some talk a few days ago about a rumor that they shrunk the screen size of the Padlet screen from 6.2". The Newest Earnings report mentions the screen is still 6.2" so guess we can put that rumor to rest.
Their net sales were still lower than projected, and even though they lost less its probably pittance compared to what they have in the bank. So I don't think it will cause them to spend much more.
I read somewhere that they project 10million wii+wii u combined for this fiscal year. Seeing as Wii sold 9.8 last year they must be expecting either a drop off of mega prortions for wii or next to no sales of wii u. Basically, Wii U confirmed delayed to March 30th 2013![]()

The 10 million combined thing is really low. I would think they would hve 3-4 million Wii U ready for NA at the minimum this fall and the Wii should be able to do more than 6-7 million all year unless they just pull the plug

Wii-U delay, don't think it couldn't happenI know that they had at least $10 billion in cash - and no debt. If projected losses were around $1 billion but they ended-up only losing about half that amount, then they have about half a billion more than what was anticipated. Not too shabby.
But a Wii U delay? I think I'd cry.
9. Forecasted sales units of Nintendo 3DS software and Wii U software contained in Wii software include the quantity of the packaged software by means of digital distribution.
Wii-U delay, don't think it couldn't happen
Moreover, Nintendo will push forward with "Nintendo Network," which is the network service for the "Nintendo 3DS" and the "Wii U," and offer game experiences, which enable users to compete and interact with others all over the world, and provide add-on content by utilizing its network functions.
Furthermore, for the purposes of adapting to the changes in the environment surrounding the video game market and creating new business opportunities, Nintendo is envisioning the digital distribution of packaged software and is aiming at expanding the digital business
In the challenging and competitive video game industry, which consistently requires new and innovative products, Nintendo will continue striving to expand its offerings of compelling products and services by capitalizing on being a platform holder with powerful in-house software development teams.

sounds like the WiiU name is safe
Yeah I made that assumption too from this reportsounds like the WiiU name is safe
I expected some pieces of info related to the Wii U launch date.
At least which quarter and in which reagion...
Q3, Q4?

It could still change I suppose. Maybe it's not right to announce a name change now? I don't know but I like the Wii U name. The logo, on the other hand, is pretty hideous![]()
Report says they are still aiming for an End of Calendar Year release window. So Q4 is 99.9% it
Thanks guys... and no expected sales number for this fiscal year? The (English) report says 'at the end of the calendar year', for what it's worth.
Japanese report uses 年末 to describe the release, corroborating the English translation (sometimes they're a bit different).
Earnings report indicates Nintendo is still aiming for an End of Calendar Year release window for Wii U so no surprise summer.
Brief mention of the Nintendo Network and Digital Downloads going forward etc
