Gritty fps reboot of Mach Rider
Huh, go figure. I've been away for the last two days, more or less so I'm still catching up and this caught my eye.
It's a sequel to Dillon's Rolling western. We already know this.
It's okay Miya-samus forgives you.
Mach Rider needs a more GTA style reboot. Large open world. Lots of bike riding, searching for survivors, and killing Quadrunners. Let Retro try their hand at a Nintendoesque open world TPS.
I like you.[post=36078242]Funny you should say that[/post]
I like you.
I had this idea years ago, and I've always wanted to see it. Just set in a different perspective. Though I can see how FPS would be more up Retros alley.
So with rumors that Xbox 720 isn't going to show up at this e3, it's Nintendo's show pretty much. They better come out with guns blazing
So, it's the Micheal Bay of games?
I wish they took some of that time and effort to properly resurrect starfox...*sigh*
With that rumor of Nintendo bringing new IPs, and Miyamoto's baby on the way, if any franchise is going on the back-burner, it'll be Star Fox. I bet.
By baby I mean new IP too guys.![]()
That is the opposite of what was mentioned. Miyamoto expressed concern the games were being developed outside his jurisdiction. Which they were by being handled by Nintendo SPD. But Star Fox 64 3D was brought back into Nintendo EAD (although Q-Games co-developed it).
Next Star Fox will be developed through EAD. Someone else being involved is likely but it is still a different scenario than how Star Fox Adventures and Star Fox Assault were developed.
StarFox could be THE game to demonstrate all of what Wii U is if people would be a little creative:
- Excellent graphical showcase with the scale of the levels and number of enemy units on screen at a time. Great audio and VA clarity thanks to roomy discs and HDMI digital audio support.
- Four player online multiplayer/coop with each padlet having real time video feed of your four person party chatting it up and playing along with you, thus showing off Wii U's online potential.
- Asymmetric game play where padlet controls Great Fox and players try to play different flight combat modes like capture the (moving) flag or main game coop with Great Fox dropping bombs on things or leaving care packages to underperforming squad members
Basically, take StarFox 64 as a base, add liberal amounts of online interaction and new campaign material, drop everything that isn't Top Gun tier one liners an a simple "omg, we're getting fucked up! StarFox group, go and fuck them up harder!" for the story, keep the different ship mechanics, drop on foot missions unless they get all Sin & Punishment styled and to accommodate online, maybe make factions like the Star Fox 4 man cell, the Star Wolf four person cell, and maybe one or two more cells (Bill & four randoms from the space fleet at Katina/Katt & some randoms for the last group?) to accomodate 12 - 16 player madness in multiplayer or different campaigns for the coop main game.
what StarFox fans need to understand is Sales = More games
I think Nintendo tested the waters with StarFox 3DS remake, no matter how many ideas we can have for StarFox what is the deman like for this series?
Bwahahahaha, I have yet to see a good game adapted from a movie.
Ok, stupid question incoming but those of you who have watched the Tokyo street demo i have a question. How in the hell did Nintendo capture enough scenery to allow the WiiU pad to look underneath the car and behind it at any angle??? Am i missing something?!
I would say the car had cameras all around it, if that's possible, or they are very skilled editors.
Another long day at work, time to sit down and shoot the sh......... wait, we got news?! Cool.
Lack of 1T-SRAM tells me that software emulation is on the way, but knowing Nintendo and its desire for 100% backwards compatibility, they'll probably do it all for EVERY game in-house. Gonna pray for 1080p up-rezzing (Reggie's comments on the matter can go to hell)
It has the possibility to be truly epic, with crazy dogfights and squad-based tactics and even small amounts of that non-linear gameplay from the unreleased Star Fox 2. I said it before, and I'll say it again: I want my furry space opera, Nintendo, and you should be ashamed of taking that away from me.
*looks at frostbite's avatar*
...... really, can't think of ONE good movie adaptation from a game?!
I love my PS3 and Xbox 360 but man, I am beginning to really want a new "next gen" system and the Wii-U will be on sale this year!!(Hopefully if that doesn't change).
It's just awesome that Nintendo is *finally* going hi-def and we'll be seeing Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Starfox in 1080p goodness!
With the 3DS and Wii-U at E3, Nintendo should have one hell of a show.
Wild speculation: Memory is three tiered:
MEM1: 32MB IBM/ Qimonda eDRAM (fast scratchpad and/or framebuffer, 1T-SRAM replacement)
MEM2: 1.5GB DDR3 (main RAM)
ARAM: 4GB Flash, 130/60 interface or faster (cache)
Agreed about the furry space opera. I WANT MY STAR FOX BACK NINTENDO, AND BY GOLLY, YOU WILL GIVE IT TO ME. Incidentally, if anyone's seen Macross, I'd like the dogfights to be as chaotic and similar in scale as those.
I was talking about movies turned into games, not games turned into movies. Movies turned into games invariably are a cheap cash-in 99% of the time.

Where does this come from? Have I missed something?
EDIT: Oh, found Röstis post.
EDIT2: But IMHO this doesn't mean that it couldn't use 1T-SRAM, just that it would come from Invensas and not MoSys.
So Iwata understands that consumers have multiple consoles and he understands that consumers will buy third party games for the most powerful console. So why the fuck would Iwata release another system only a little more powerful than the 360/PS3? That doesn't help solve the issue of people having other platforms at home to buy games for. That doesn't solve the lower graphical capabilities issue when the next Xbox and next Playstation come out."While a few titles broke this mold in the US (such as Just Dance), the Wii still had a problem moving titles such as Call of Duty. Iwata attributed this to both the Wii's lower graphical capabilities and the fact that people who are interested in that type of game usually have other platforms at home to buy them for. Though he kept mum on Nintendo's plans to turn this situation around for the Wii's successor, he did say that, "We are aiming for creating a situation where software publishers will be willing to cooperate."
Here's a quote that bugs me:

It's that case man. That case. It's too small to dissipate heat. That's the only thing that makes me think this will be a 'Dreamcast' style console (noticeably more powerful than current gen, but noticeably less powerful than the gen it will technically belong to). Of course, that's just my speculation. The case design could change wildly between now and release or they might have some awesome cooling solution.
I don't see anything in that quote about specs. Hell, we don't know anything about specs at this point. No reason to get upset until we know more about it. Hopefully that will be soon.

The quote is not about specs. The quote is about Iwata acknowledging the fact that consumers own multiple consoles and that has a big impact on third party game. Consumers have more choices on which console to buy a game for.
In that same quote, Iwata acknowledges that the Wii ports of Call of Duty weren't popular because of the graphics.
My point is I think Wii U might have a chance at being more future proof so they don't run into a problem with third party games selling like shit because people bought the superior ps4/xbox 720 versions over the inferior Wii U versions.

I agree, the case is awfully small. I won't be shocked if it was disappointing power-wise, but who knows.
Good post. For me personally, Wii U doesn't have to compete with PS4/ 720 in terms of power. It just has to offer something different. Hopefully developers feel the same and want to take advantage of its unique features. There's just no way they can throw down on that level. Especially since the other machines are going to be released so much later than the Wii U. The PS2 survived the Xbox, Dreamcast, and Gamecube with sheer hype. With the exception of the Dreamcast it was definitely weaker than the other two machines, but they had a good library of games and enough developer support to keep the momentum going even after the other machines were released.
I think Nintendo is going to be in the same situation. There's no way they can really compete with the other machines on the power front. So perhaps they'll go after keeping developers happy by providing services and a machine that (while not up the exactly the same specs) is close enough. As long as they sell well out of the gate and move software, I don't think this is going to be a problem.
the GC had a small case too, don't underestimate nintendo's hardware engineers.

People went for graphics over controller on most third party games.

It did, but not as 'flat' as the Wii-U case. It also had a big fan in the side IIRC. I'd wager the internal volume was larger given that the GC was a top-loader and the Wii-U is a tray-loader.
