But was it really that early? I also noticed that Nintendo went away from the red tearstrip on their game and switched to grey/black. One example:
(Smash Bros is a later print, i bought it maybe a year ago. The first prints has a red tearstrip).
All 3DS games that i own also have the grey/black tearstrip.
what's all the talk about date? What date?!
Whatever Retro is working on, it's big. Really big.
I don't know that it's canceled, but a lot of unnanounced stuff got the axe this past week at Sega.
Combined with the rumors that Sega axed "an important Wii U game" but with strict clarification from Sega that Sonic is going to stay one of their major franchises, it seems logical.
For Nintendo's year in result meeting.
such a bad idea for a company to base its survival on just one IP
Sonic is not immune to being milked to death, they may think it has Mario like immunity but this could be the last thing they fail to understand
Because they tend to have a myopic, self-serving view of the industry so as long as their wants are fulfilled, the rest is irrelevant.
Since it's aimed at investors, anything about the Wii U will be in one of two categories:
1. Partnerships with third parties.
2. Features of the console (such as NN).
Sega will be fine, probably.
They're just not going to take as many risks or do as many "good reputation" games anymore.
Football Manager is really their bread and butter. Sonic Generations on everything was outsold by the most recent Mario & Sonic at the Olympics on Wii.

Everything but Wii. Still scratching my head on that one.
Also, has it happened where a game was canned due to a poor situation, but was revived later on when things got back to normal, especially if word got out and interest was gathered for it?
Hearing more about the NN would be nice.
(Maybe a screen of the OS too. *wink wink*)
Because the Wii got the far superior Colors.
I wonder if the reasons SaSASR2 hasn't been officially announced is because it was one of the projects on the bubble.
Then again, it did have Sonic in the title, so...
They are trying to create something like a MySpace TV app for the Wii U that would turn the controller into a full communication/social media device. I have no idea what that means, but that was the notion of it.
Nintendo is collaborating on Myspace according to NintendoEnthusiast.
Says it's not an April Fools day joke.

Why the fuck would they work with MySpace over Facebook?
I'm calling fake.
So what's the deal with the hard drive and lack thereof?
I brought it up early this morning in this thread how I can see it being a problem for things like devs who want to start moving towards more digital distribution etc. It seems as though both the 720 and PS4 rumors are showing them moving towards digital sales, but here's WiiU without a hard drive.
Will that cost the WiiU seeing a lot of games when next gen finally gets rolling (by rolling I mean like ~a year after the last console comes to the table)?
Games with lots of disc switching?
Since users have to pick their own hard drives and there's going to be varying speeds etc. will that create problems for devs? How about hackers? How about buying the WiiU for like $400 from like Wal Mart or where ever and then having to go to like Radio Shack or Newegg and buying a hard drive for another $100 on top of that. Because even though it's not mandatory, it's pretty mandatory. "GAF! Recommend me a hard drive for my WiiU!"

I want to think that it's OBVIOUSLY fake but the "lol nintendo" inside me makes me think anything is possible. Why the fuck would they work with MySpace over Facebook?

This is how things look at prima vista. Until you make the simple observation: something is terribly off with this setup.I think you're wrong in a way Ace. More power makes prettier games and There's a lot of people put there who love prettier, bigger, louder games. I would argue its probably 80% of the 360 market.
Looking at games through Michael Bay tinted glasses is depressing but it's a reality nonetheless.
I think it's a mistake to not support eSATA or an internal option. Not just for the fact that dev's won't be able to assume it's in a system and build to accommodate, but also for speed and throughput reasons where DLC/DD/patches are concerned. I'd hate to see such a lame bottleneck cause problems (I despise loading) and limit system resources for a problem that is easily and relatively cheaply solved pre launch.
Hopefully they wise up and support eSATA, USB 2.0 isn't desired or appropriate as a way to load/read DD/DLC/etc.
Never underestimate a brand's potential to reinvent and revive itself.
This would be far more exciting for MySpace than it would be for Nintendo.
The current state of the industry still scares the hell out of me.
Especially with the whole Oreo analogy from Alberto. At times I wonder what the industry is thinking. I mean, a AAAA game. Sounds to me that only a handful of games can afford such a business model including Call of Duty.
I wish I could see into the future.
MySpace isn't influential with anything anymore.I could see Nintendo working with Myspace because thats just how Nintendo rolls. They are late to the fads and perhaps Myspace offered them a pretty hard to resist idea.
Myspace is certainly more influential with Music etc than facebook
Sad but true. This has been my least favorite gen of all time. Not because the game library suffered, but because the entire industry is much worse for wear.

(warning: things are getting very anecdotal from here through the end of this post)
See that's exactly what I'm saying.
This is a pretty major thing and we know nothing about it. We know -enough- about the specs but this whole storage thing hasn't gotten enough discussion. There could be maaaaajor problems here. I can definitely see this being the WiiUs biggest problem but you guys are all
arm this and
flops that
but this whole hard drive and storage thing could be the real killer. Didn't they come right out and say already that they wouldn't be making a 1st party hard drive available? I'm like 90% sure Reggie said that himself Nintendo wouldn't be making one and that consumers would be able to choose their own. That could be a biiiiig problem for lots of reasons.
A bad situation I could see is Nintendo recycling the same flash-to-SD solution the Wii had. Which would be horrible. In this case you'd save the DLC/DD on the USB HDD and whenever you wanted to play it, you could play it straight off the USB or load it into flash (if you have enough space) and play from there. The problem is speed, both ways.
If you load onto flash to play, first there's the space management issue depending on the size we're talking about, and coupled with that the annoying time it takes to load onto flash. So we're still talking about a arbitrary "waiting period" that has plagued Nintendo services for a long time. And if you're loading straight from USB, that's just another slowdown issue when it comes to loading, as well as potential DLC integration problems vs. the stock DVD Rom. It's not a good option for gamers.
Won't happen.
This isn't the case on the 3DS, and won't be the case on the Wii U.
So you think it'll be loading straight from the USB or SD if that's a option?
It just sucks if Nintendo sticks with this, probably the dumbest piece of info we know about. There's a reason those of us with JTAG's load our content straight to the internal SATA HDD, because loading through a USB HDD can increase loading times by 3x depending on the game/DLC.
Yes, it'll load straight from the USB.
We don't really know how fast it'll be.
They maybe (hopefully) will upgrade to at least one USB 3.0, which would drastically reduce loading.
