Hey guys what's going on----

O_o
bravo, you guys have outdone yourselves this time. and i thought this thread couldn't be any weirder.
Why won't nintendo ever go with sensible names like revolution and stream. They love shooting them selves in the foot. I mean Wii garnered attention due to the odd name and was more welcoming to casual gamers but could we just get a salute to us, "core gamers", with a regular name like nintendo stream.

They don't like using Nintendo as apart of the official name. So clearly the successor needs to be called the Wii Stream.

What the hell is sensible about "Revolution" exactly? That sounds way over the top for a game console. Stream I will give you sounds cool.

Also, those controller mockups were nice, I liked both of them.

The only problem with Wii 2 is it will lead to comments that the "Wii 2 is 2 gens behind the PS4"

yeap, that would be the same problem MS had with the xbox and they called it xbox360 not to be a number behind PS3.

Nintendo, if they want to keep the Wii name alive should call it:
Wii 1080
that will be packed with a remastered Full-HD version of 1080°Snowbording.

If they are really going for 1080p (like Reggie said) then they could advertise that perfect!!

(btw I still believe in 1080p possible, just saw a pricetag from a german online retailer and it had 504,99 Euro on it)

So I've been curious to see what I could do to shave some weight off the Wii U's tablet.

Changelist:

>Moved power button and battery indicator to the top right of the camera
>Greying of the camera's surrounding bezel is intentional; less distracting, although I understand it is to prevent glare(is it?)
>Speakers moved to be in line with the bottom of the screen
>pads moved to be in line with the top of the screen
>pads are slightly larger; recoloured onyx to stand out
>D-pad enlarged, D-pad and buttons moved more snuggly to the screen
>Home, start and select moved beneath the XYABs
>Monochrome Wii U logo added in its place

Overall I think that's about 3/4 of an inch of height reduced.

What do you think?

I really do not like it...I think the button placement for the power button and home button etc; look better at the bottom, and I'd much rather have them at the bottom. I don't like how the nubs stick out like that, and since I have small hands, I don't like that everything's been enlarged.

An interview of N-Space producer

If you could work on any Nintendo series, what would it be, and how would you approach it?

This may sound a bit self-serving, but I would love to work on another Geist game. We left so many ideas on the cutting-room floor that it's a dream of mine to revisit the franchise. Aside from that, I'd love to revive Uniracers and bring it to the 3DS. I'm not a huge fan of motion controls, but there are a lot of cool things we could do with it.

Geist 2 for Wii U ?

Nintendo Pax plans, no Wii U mentioned as expected

Nintendo is giving attendees at this year’s PAX East show an up-close look at the remarkable features, games and entertainment options made possible by the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system. Taking place April 6-8 in Boston, PAX East will also be the site of special activities designed to help celebrate the recent launch of Kid Icarus™: Uprising for Nintendo 3DS. Attendees can take part in a scavenger hunt for select Kid Icarus: Uprising AR Cards; trade, share and collect additional AR Cards; and take part in a multiplayer tournament 6-9 p.m. on Friday, April 6, in the Handheld Lounge. Attendees who would like to participate in the tournament can bring their own Nintendo 3DS and Kid Icarus: Uprising game card and use almost any Weapon or Power they have earned in the tournament.

Nintendo 3DS games that will be playable at PAX East include Mario Tennis™ Open (launching May 20), Spirit Camera™: The Cursed Memoir (launching April 13), Kid Icarus: Uprising and Mario Kart™ 7. Visitors to the Nintendo booth (#412) will also be invited to sample Nintendo 3DS games from third-party publishers, including CAPCOM’s Resident Evil® Revelations. Additionally, attendees can use Nintendo 3DS hardware to browse the online Nintendo eShop, which offers an ever-growing library of games. Playable Nintendo eShop titles at PAX East will include Ketzal’s Corridors™, Dillon’s Rolling Western™, Pushmo™ and Sakurai Samurai: The Art of the Sword™. Nintendo 3DS users also can access demos, music videos and trailers that can all be enjoyed in 3D without the need for special glasses.

Looks like, except a surprise, that it will focus on the 3DS. Maybe some 3rd parties like Ubisoft will say some tidbits about the Wii U version of AC3 for example.

Not surprised one bit. I'd say our next chance is really the Investors' Conference. Barring that, we're in for a long haul to E3.

So they are recruiting folks from the recently closed Zipper Interactive...Gearbox (with a guy specialized, among other things, in the Unreal Engine...)

It really smells "mature" ip with the addition of all these new employees.
Creepy guy:
- worked with the id Tech 5 engine and assisted in developing an appropriate art pipeline.

Everything points into a fps, EVERYTHING

I have some cartridges left, but nothing huge for the moment sadly.

That Wilson fellow is creeping me out!

Creepy guy:

Because he is hairy ? He is like Tim-Burton-CREATIVE-Hairy, so that's cool ! Hair is good, Hair is fashion !

Super Mario FPS confirmed ! The fun of brawl in a non-bloody FPS setting. Well, a man can hope.

From all the art guys that they have recruited lately profiles, the background of this future retro title seems to be detailed and "adult" (understand, not pastel, etc.).

Hey Ideaman, you mentioned a couple of weeks ago that you know about some slight modifications to the controller, but didn't elaborate on it. And no one asked.
So: Any further clues you'd like to share, do counter some attention to all the new Microsoft / Sony leaks? :)

Yeah it's scheduled but i would like to confirm this information first (nothing groundbreaking though).

no worries... I don't think most people expecting anything groundbreaking but rather would like to have a better picture of what the console will be like.

Oh no worries.. I'm a patient guy.

I'm making the most of this time, using it to wrap-up anything I wanted to play or replay before the end of the generation. My yearly run through BG&E, my first run through A Boy & His Blob, all of the Luigi content in the Galaxy games, at least one of the two big RPGs for the Wii, and maybe a re-exploration of Cyrodiil. Even without the launch, it's going to be a good gaming year.

(And in the middle of all of this, a biiiig move in April to a really sweet neighborhood! Getting it over with before any of the big festivities begin!)

After we get within a month or so from Launch Day, I'll be too wound-up to play any video games.. I'll be glued to the internet.

Yeah, time will mend our impatience for Wii U news, E3 is approaching quickly :p And i bet some people will regret these moments of wait & tease when they'll have the controller in their hands, not that it will be disappointing, but the pre-launch period is so exciting and fresh :)

So no major overhaul as we've seen with the Wii Remote ergonomics? Zoonami helped with that.

I don't know if the slight modifications that i've heard of are included in a bigger overhaul of the controller or not, so it's a possibility. But like i said i would like to confirm it by some means before repeating it here so we'll just throw these messages under the rug before an infuriated rabid gafer will accuse me of shameful teasing while i was just answering to someone :p

Yep - the more news we get the more it points to a hardcore FPS of somekind - and more and more likely, it seems, will it be a new IP.

I now have doubts that it'll be Metroid - it's seems very unlikely hearing some of the insider comments and seeing the job listings.

Now that you mention it, I would absolutely love for someone to take another shot at a child friendly shooter.

Rare had such a nack for throwing that into their platformers in the N64 days, I recall many great summers spent playing Banjo Tooie's multiplayer with my friends.

Do I want Mario to do this? I'd rather not, he's perfect for other genres like racing, partying, and sports. I just can't see Mario packing heat, and don't you dare bring up Yoshi's Safari.

So I was randomly looking at old Virtual Boy games on YouTube, and I started thinking Mario Clash could be a great multiplayer addition to New Super Mario Bros Mii.

Mario Clash is a remix of the original Mario Bros. Arcade game, but if there was a Wii U version, instead of moving between the foreground and background, the pipes could carry you between the television set and DRC.

What do you think?

I don't like the color changes. The analog sticks are distracting now that they are black, and the greyed out sensor bar sticks out like a sore thumb now. The black line helped to make it blend in with the design of the controller, but when it's greyed out, it loses it's aesthetic design and just looks like a bulge on the top of the controller. Also, why would the logo be changed to be monochrome?

It's just so weird to me that Microsoft would go bleeding edge, when their ultimate goal is to be the living room hub and they found their true success by releasing Kinect and finding the sweet spot on price.

Judging by Xbox and 360, they always gone for bleeding edge.

So how would you guys feel about a RETRO developed Gears/Halo/Crysis cross, but with a lot more focus on team play a la Battlefield and with extensive strategic elements and vehicle control, plus intuitive use of the Upad as standard and more inventive environments?

Because I think that's what we're getting...

It'd be nice, but I've learned never to have such high expectations with Nintendo. I am always most satisfied when I'm optimistic on hyping their games.

Bored mostly.

It would be the first game by Retro I skip. (maybe wait for bargain bin prices)

I wonder about a possibility--Could some developers make SD games for the padlet with better graphics by putting the maximum rendering performance toward the visuals, with more complex geometry, lighting, shaders, etc, by NOT using HD resolutions? I'm totally drunk so that didn't come out the way I wanted to say it, but I'd like to know if this is feasible.
Sure, but imagine how badass they could make things at 256x224.

I hope the IP will have a lot of personality, of style. I don't want some generic western sci-fi/anticipated near future/actual setting (i'm less tired of them that j-rpg overused design but still).

And a very solid online mode, with tons of replayability, of content. A flood of options to reach Esport levels if you want, akin to "we play to CS/SC1/D2 since 10 years" with some digital mini-expansion pack released frequently to spice-up the game in the long-term and allow some cash-in for Retro/Nintendo without releasing a new iteration à la COD every other year, and free their resources to try something else for retail.

Two GPUs only make sense if they're asymmetric. So it's probably one weak integrated GPU that will be used for media stuff, and a more powerful discrete GPU for games. When in game mode, the integrated GPU will handle GPGPU stuff or something.

This is exactly what I am thinking, though this is the Monday after April fools, so I would take this rumor and equalize it with the HD6670 rumor... both are POSSIBLE, but neither should be believed without more leaks or separate confirmations.

I really think that if Sony and Microsoft release next year, there is no way that they can really push Nintendo graphically out of the market unless Nintendo really is going with something under 2x 360, because basically putting a system together next year is going to look a lot like putting one together this year (the processor nodes aren't getting smaller till late 2014 at the earliest, so expect the same heat concerns.)

Wii U is in an exciting position and I haven't seen Nintendo launch a home console generation as a gamer, ever. I'm interested to see how big the advantage could be for them, someone the industry regularly tries to ignore, even though they are on the top of it.

One GPU for graphics with a much weaker one for Kinect, possibly? Much like how Nintendo is separating the I/O and Audio for better performance. It's definitely isn't two 6xxx or 7xxx grade GPUs.
