Now that it's 2004, i hav to say we may be saturated with either too many great titles or sequels.

Ah well (let's also not forget Cowboy Bebop debuted in 98 in Japan).

I can attest to FMT's idea, as OoT was boring as hell.

finally some intelligent life on this forum. OOT was the most over rated garbage known to man. I remember seeing some zelda fansites during that time with retarded fanatics whom would all say the game is perfect and "godly". Yet the only people who would play that crap were nfans. It was a snore fest. Simplistic combat. Sparse enemies. Weak non existant story. No environmental interactions. Uninteresting dungeon designs. Lets walk through hyrule field for 5 minutes.... look there's a tree. Yup this is hyrule field. What a joke of a game. Simple games appeal so well to simple minds. I cannot stand the emptiness of OOT . LTTP was quality. OOT was nothing.

oh, and 1998 also saw the release of Fallout 2, which doesn't look as pretty as BG but is roughly 20 million times more fun to play.

Sure, some of these games will turn out to be crap. Some might not even make it out in 2005. But I'm as excited about some of these games as I was about any in 2004.

Obivously games have improved and are "better" in 2004 but nothing released this year has been as groundbreaking as the games that were released in 1998 (for their time obviously). There have been lots of excellent games this year but nearly ALL OF THEM are direct sequels.
