Will Captain Toad save Nintendo from failure?

With all the anticipation building up to the release of Captain Toad and all other major releases for this year coming out before it, it looks like Nintendo's got the perfect ace up their sleeve to come out on top this Christmas. With an early December release, a 40$ pricepoint and a universal appeal it seems like this game could very well appeal perfectly to every demographic and be a runaway success.

The game will offer challenges to hardcore gamers, the art style is inviting to a casual gamer, the lower price means that more people can add it to their christmas lists and successfully save Christmas regardless of their financial status.

On top of that, there are no new releases coming out by the end of the year post-Captain Toad release. It seems like a guaranteed runaway success. Try to name a video game that isn't Captain Toad that's coming out.

You can't! Captain Toad power!

edit:
I can see that people are misunderstanding me and thinking I'm talking about a system seller. I made it a bit more clear later on in this post, hopefully it gets rid of the confusion:

I'm honestly surprised at some of the posts in here. Not the ones who think that it won't succeed, that's to be expected since obviously everyone has different interpretations of success.

I'm more thinking of the people talking about how this game isn't a system seller, when that wasn't at all the point. I think other than when a proper Zelda game comes out, the majority of the Wii U ownership numbers will level out by the release of Smash. This isn't about selling consoles. This is about one unifying game that will draw together all of the existing Wii U owners to enforce their love for fantastic games and wonderfully original content.

This isn't about increasing console numbers with a budget title. This is about everyone getting together and saying YES! to supporting the Nintendo we all love.

YES! to Captain Toad

YES! to Toadette

YES! to all coming together with one strong title that refines Nintendo down to what we love most: fun, challenge and joy.

This is something that every gamer I'm sure wants, and Nintendo have graciously put it out in a format where everyone can join together regardless of their gaming backgrounds and confidently say "We love video games". Captain Toad seems like the central game to join such a divided community together.

No.

It's gonna be a cool game though.

edit-

it's only $40? Nice! I haven't bought a WiiU game since Mario 3D World, this'll probably be my holiday gaming purchase.

Little game called Smash Bros coming out at around the same time ...

No, I doubt it.

I'm not even really sure I understand how this game plays. I haven't yet played Super Mario 3D World, so I'm a little unclear.

I'm sure it'll be a cool game, but compared to Smash I doubt it'll sell THAT well.

It's not supposed to be, it's a budget filler title.
Just have fun with it while not expecting it to be the savior of anything
except anime, because Captain Toad is totally saving that

Toad isn't exactly a character that screams 'edgy' to entice dudebro gamers away from their Xbones and PS4s.

Core gamers however should and will recognize its worth. Whether it'll turn them into Wii U owners if they aren't already...I don't think anyone is banking on that.

Captain toad is a drop of water for Nintendo's future. It's a stop-gap piece of software for people who already own a Wii U and want something new to play. The real system sellers are Mario Kart and Smash Bros.

Zelda might push some units, and as much as I'm eagerly anticipating Xenoblade, and how nice Captain Toad and Splatoon might end up being, I doubt any of them will be as large system sellers as the ones I just mentioned.

Media Create sales this week have shown that Japan ain't no kinoko teikoku, so it's not likely to do well in the rest of the world either.
