Watched that last night. Big takeways I get from it was that it doesn't seem that many people have had extensive time playing the game and so they don't seem to be able to get immersed in the game loop. Also, the complexity of the combat is going to guarantee a lot of negative reviews for media who won't take the time to understand it. I don't agree with him, though, that the game has to be a 9+ to meet the hype. Nothing about this game says to me that is going to be a game that is universally praised. I think his expectations are out of whack, frankly.

At least you have something to complain about again

Yeah, I'm calling out patronizing posts and youtube creators, and meanwhile you're still worked up about the possibility that the game might actually be good (?). If so, yin and yang, and ditto, I guess.

I liked what I've seen so far, but on the other hand, it looked a little overwhelming. I hope there is an easy mode. I'm interested in the world and story, but I don't have time for a complex combat system.

There's nothing controversial about the commentary in that video. You'd know that if took 10 minutes to watch it, but you'd rather just complain like usual.

Yeah that's fair. Like everyone else I enjoy a bit of complaining.

I disagree with the angle though. People have not been hyping this up much, most people are rather "hoping it up" and putting a disclaimer on it.

Nioh has a very complex combat system, one of the best in the genre, but there is a point in difficulty where the press is afraid to give a bad review to a game or else their credibility takes a hit.

NioH, Elden Ring and all the Souls games where difficulty is a central pillar of the game check this case. Reviewers are afraid to be called out because they couldn't finish the game, or simply because they don't like difficult games that they give good reviews not matter what, because the genre is widely known and the names of the games too.

Problem is, Crimson Desert do not fall into that genre, and the action adventure genre in much wider in terms of audience, so some reviewers are probably going to review the combat system harshly or even putting it into their negative points because of its complexity. Which is a shame because for once we get a good combat system with all the bells and whistles of an open world, some will try to ruin it.

That's how hypocrite, sterile and useless reviewers are these days.

Will said. Exactly why I don't agree with focusing on metacritic score heavily with this game. On thing if the game is universally hated, but suggesting it has to be a 9+ to not disappoint is a bizarre take to me.

The preview I watched was negative and concluded that this game is very shallow (you just kill enemies in the area and that's all) and does not focus on an interesting and original story or side quests, like The Witcher 3. The parkour and flying mechanics remind me of Forspoken, a game I disliked. The good graphics and vast landscape may be interesting to explore, though, so I might enjoy this game a little.
The preview that was just the siege battle demo from last year that everyone played? Because the new previews from this week are embargoed until March 4th.

50/50 for me as it promises a lot and although this isn't a bad thing, too much stuff isn't necessarily a good recipe.

I will say this, saw a news today that it will have only a default difficulty and this is a big turn on for me.
If its true, this game jumped from being "yeah, ok, looks cool, maybe I'll play it this year" to " I need to check this out asap".

Anyway, Sony trying to lock it down for an exclusive release tells me they saw potential. But they also once saw "the future" in Concord and Destruction AllStars. I think they just weren't wearing their prescription glasses when they read the crystal ball at that time. That said, and to be fair, they've gotten it right far more often than they've missed.

Soooo....

Don't know if it is worth creating an entire new thread for this feel free to do it if you think so but unless AMD fumbled the system requirements it seems they may require a phone number to play the game... a phone number is needed... to play a singleplayer game...
I really hope this is a mistake.

This is only listed for people that get the amd bundle. I'm guessing it's so the code can't be resold and has to be tied to the CPU you purchase from them. Will Powers already said he's looking into it on the CD discord. No other platforms list this requirement. Could be an old placeholder from its mmo days too, since the Gb requirement doesn't match steams store page.

Don't forget the recent code violet. That was an exclusive too.

The studio's infrastructure demonstrates the developers' ambition for the game.

It took many years of hard work to create this game, which we will soon be able to play. This is the game that comes closest to Rockstar in terms of technical quality and scope, and all this with FAR fewer developers compared to GTA 6 or RDR2. If Rockstar made a medieval game, would it be like this?

Let's wait to play it first?
I'm as excited to play it as the next guy but absurd hype like this is dangerous considering it's coming from an unknown studio...

I'm 90% certain the writing will be shite. And that seems to be the area (story) least spoken about vs. everything else.

The concern I have with this game is they've basically shown everything, is there a need to buy it when they've told & shown everything there is to offer?

Who said they showed everything?

No. I know them for developing a game in a very difficult and competitive genre, with extremely high quality for its time, which still performs well today and is on par with any "modern" release.

Yup, and considering the only issue I have with it is the "pay for convenience" elements and not the game itself that's a good thing.

They've shown around 50%-60% of what is in the game.
It's just been confirmed by Korean influencers who played 6 hours of the game in a session.
And they haven't seen everything of course.

I'm currently praying for underwater exploration, with sunken ruins, giant sea monsters, and a lot of mechanics related to water and fluid dynamics, or managing / increasing your O² to reach submerged caves. and shipwreck.

With everything already revealed, that would be so cool. The game that have everything :lollipop_flores:

For me, it's the feeling of the world what makes it or breaks its. But if it has good combat and progression maybe it's fun enough to play it. Everything good on top of that will be an extra for me. That low are my expectations after being let down from dragons dogma 2.

It's a good thing I love Dragon's Dogma 2 cause even if it were that good I'd be stoked. I have 200+ hours in that beauty. Little chance this disappoints me. My hype is contained.

Too expensive and has a confused identity. Half MMORPG, half single player action adventure.

So many videos and so many posts and yet gamers are unsure of it tells you exactly what I mean.
