I just really, really hope it won't be as mediocre and disappointing as Dragon's Dogma 2. It looks like it could scratch the right itch and be super satisfying, so here's hoping!

Story, characters, dialog and writing will make it break it for me.

To be fair, 0 hype on plot is because there hasn't been a focus on it apart from the little pieces we've seen through trailers.

Them hiding it seems to be the biggest weakness to the game so far (if it is). They really wanted you to be focused on the combat so that you can forget all the other holes the game may have.

Still hyped though!
Or they don't want there to be story spoilers.

I am absolutely expecting jank, a degree of wasted empty spaces with boring mmo-like quests since the developer comes from an mmo background, but it'll prolly be decent. Like 7+ decent.

Since OP only has 4 negative and 2 positive options and didn't include a poll option that says 'it will be pretty solid, maybe not goty' or 'it will have long legs'…I decided to choose 'Generally deliver on all promises' because they have actually shown in recent footage and public demos exactly what they have promised, so technically it holds true.

If they nail the important aspects like combat, rewarding exploration, sense of progression and traversal, i can be ok with a serviceable story and some half baked systems, a truckload of beloved games have shit stories and half baked systems.

After gta6 this is my most hyped game of the year so i hope they deliver.

P.s. people saying that they don't understand how people can be hyped for a game like this must be joking or something...

I think it'll be a fun game to play. Hard to say about the world, story and characters. At least the people who say "gameplay is the most important aspect of gaming and everything else is secondary" should enjoy this.

The preview I watched was negative and concluded that this game is very shallow (you just kill enemies in the area and that's all) and does not focus on an interesting and original story or side quests, like The Witcher 3. The parkour and flying mechanics remind me of Forspoken, a game I disliked. The good graphics and vast landscape may be interesting to explore, though, so I might enjoy this game a little.

The more I watch about the game, the more confident I see the developers are on what they produced. However, what is a total mystery right now is the performance. We have no idea how the game performs on consoles at all, aside from a few trailers on the Playstation YT channel that claim the to have been captured on PS5-Pro. Then again, there is some recommended specs on the steam web page but it tells nothing about relosution or FPS. All of this is the only thing holding me down to be fully consumed by the hype.

I bet the game will be good, but I fear performance will be the villain on release. That and bugs/glitches.

Im skeptical on the story, it'll have action but i doubt itll be anywhere near RDR 2 levels of story telling.

I get very early gen vibes from it - since the mid 2010's, ive noticed any triple A game that relies heavily on effects is usually compensating for something. Its almost like they're aware itll sell with the kids because 'fancy effects'.

Its tough to say for sure though, this one has been cooking for a while and they're self publishing which is a sign they're confident.

We're console players who remember whay CDPR pulled.
I get that, but it is not the same thing in the slightest.

You can be worried about performances and still understand why other people are excited for this game:

Combat looks crazy varied and you see cool shit that you don't see in other games like wrestling moves

Traversal look varied and fun, if people had fun with the shield gliding of zelda where the fucking shield break after 3 bumpbs, i think you can understand why people is gonna have fun with crimson traversal.

A lot of interesting looking bosses

Cool stuff to find like a freakin dragon or mech to mount and who knows what else

The game doesn't seem woke at all, which is a miracle for a modern AAA

3 different playable characters so even more variety

Good graphic and tech and destruction system, and it seems that even the element system seems more robust than many other games not called zelda

City simulation with a lot of different npcs, cities that feels "alive", probably not as alive as rockstar game but hey, who the fuck achieve that?

A lot of micromanaging of camp, allies etc. For people into this stuff

Building a home, putting fortnitures etc. Not my cup of tea but many people love this shit

A decently developed crime system where you can be a piece of shit And have literally the entire city police army coming at you

And that is just a part of what people can be hyped for in this game, and with all the shit they showed, i'm probably forgetting a loooooot of stuff.

The game has been criticized for looking too good to be true ffs, you don't achieve that status by looking lame and uninteresting.

Been watching videos about it past few days.
Lots of B-roll, not much known about it.
Janky is how I would sum up what I've seen so far.
Lots of content though.
Pearl Abyss seems to be known for a online rpg and cellphone spinoff.
So they know what they are doing, I think.

it's more like we've seen this stuff before, it can easily become buggy/unfun/busywork/checkbox/unimportant/uninteresting.

Like micromanaging a camp sounds great, but if it is done badly, it just becomes a horrible part of your game.

Basically some people can get hyped by large feature lists but it's really rare when games pull these sorts of elements together into a great game like rdr2 and totk and that takes like a top notch team.

Again i can understand all of your qualms, i just don't see how can any gamer watch a trailer of crimson and say "umm i wonder why people are excited for this game" with all the cool, videogamey shit people have been asking for a hot minute because games nowadays are too serious...

Tokt and rdr2 have a lot of problems and half baked stuff, they are far from perfect games so yeah you miss me with these comparisons...
I bet many aspects of crimson are gonna dismantle zelda or rdr2 but people are gonna search for the things where it is inferior, tell me it isn't true, we already know the drill...

Game looks amazing, I don't know why there's so much doubt when it essentially looks like a better Zelda BOTW/TOTK, running on more powerful systems than a Nintendo Switch.

If worse comes to worst and it's unoptimized it will eventually get patched like every other game in the last decade.

Because is an asian game outside of pedigree Studios. Gamers never learn.

I think it'll deliver on the hype for some aspects, fail to deliver on others, and have some problems we didn't foresee.

There, I think I've covered all the bases.

In truth, my real answer is "I don't know."

I went into one of the other threads about the game mildly intrigued at most. 10 minutes later I was feeling like a young Mike Singletary with bloodshot eyes and unshakeable belief in the game, all courtesy of the glorious GymWolf GymWolf hype machine.

The game's got to be an absolute banger now or the devs are waking up with horse heads in their beds.

I suspect people arent ready for just how Ubisoft the game will end up feeling

Jack of all trades but master none.

Early release hype -> oh wait... actually this, this and this kinda sucks

"suspect people?" Why are you concerned with other people's feelings? You do realize everyone's different, right? That alone guarantees you're going to misread a bunch of us. Me? I'm good either way. If it's great, I'll enjoy it because I think it will be. If it's bad, I'll enjoy seeing and posting memes. Win-win.

What I don't get is making this about the people instead of the game. There are literally people out there who'll be pissed if the game's good. :messenger_grinning: That's a wild approach to me.

The game will definitely have some janks and bugs, especially with tons of mechanics in this game. No ifs and buts to it.

But considering the amount of shits you can do, I think I'll be too pre occupied with fucking around in the world to care or bitch or moan about it, unless the game is literally broken or littered with performance issues, which I highly doubt.

This guy does some map detective work.

He doesn't go into a lot of details, all these locations are known, and he misplaced Delesya.
There's also a lot of locations he didn't put on the map.

But I guess it's more because I over obsessed with the game and maps in general (did the same before BotW release…), and it's still informative for people who haven't followed the game closely.

Suspect, has nothing to do with being concerned...

Hence how a someone in a crime who is of interest is a "suspect".

Another one of these youtube fuckers trying to create controversy for clicks..

I'm not seeing this supposed hype anywhere. Every discussion I come across is just people saying, "It looks too good to be true, so I'm staying cautiously optimistic".

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
