Will & Jada Smith investigated by Child Protective Services over daughter Willow

What 20 year old is friends with a fucking 13 year old?

One of my friends has a 14 year old daughter. She and I are friends and have been since she was 8.

Does it not seem realistic for actors to have friends who are in the same industry with children?

I don't see a problem with the photo.

Would you let your 13 year old daughter "chill" in bed with a 20 year old male friend? Asking this on GAF is a bad idea, but the vast majority of people wouldn't be ok with that. Willow has been on this path for awhile, and her brief music career often advertised her as "older than she is" or "mature" as if she was somehow on another metal level compared to similar 10-11 year olds. Now she's 13 and seems like a mess. It's not surprising.

You do know he wasn't just hanging out with a 13 year old girl right?, he was hanging out with a 16 year old, a 15 year old and a 13 year old (i think there was 1 other, though not sure).

Yes. I know. And I mean they can run their home however they see fit. And I know people are different and there's always the exception for the hollywood culture...etc.

But at the end of the day if I'm thinking if this is my child I'd definitely put a stop to a grown ass man socializing in bed with my 13 year old daughter. I'm just not naive. I'd politely explain that he's a welcome guest but that's not appropriate he should put on his shirt and go in the living room and they can socialize there.

Firstly, it's not a 'grown ass man in bed with a 13 year old.' It's a bunch of friends in a room chilling out, 2 of which in this photo were ontop of the bed. Secondly, there's nothing sexual about the photo at all and there seem to be other photos of other people also chilling out.

I realize there were more people in the room. That doesn't change my stance. I'd tell him to put his shirt on and for her to get off the bed. Never said it was sexual. They're obviously not fucking. Just inappropriate.

Change the location, say to a sunbed in the garden. Same postions. Is that just as bad to you?

If they were sitting on a couch with his shirt on it wouldn't be as bad to me.

Alone? Probably not. But in a group with kids which I have known for a long time? Do you think they are going to have an orgy?

Always struck me as odd how those kids seemingly went everywhere by themselves. Then again the only reason it sort off stood out is because they are "celeb kids".

Either-way, the bigger issue that needs to be investigated is why the fuck Jaden is always in a hurry. Every picture I see of the kid he is in some running motion. And for some reason it makes me angry. Seeing him just makes me want to grab him by the shoulders and shake him while asking....WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS RUNNING?....WHERE ARE YOU RUNNING TO?....WHY DO YOU WEAR BAGGY TIGHT PANTS?....WHO INVENTED BAGGY TIGHT PANTS?. I NEED answers Jaden.

Are they physically in a bed or not? Now we're redefining being in a bed? C'mon....

I'm just pointing out that there is a difference to being in bed together rather than merely sitting or resting on a bed. Maybe the chairs are taken up by their friends or there are no chairs, or just other places to sit. Just because they're on a bed doesn't mean anything.

When I was about twenty or so, my sister was babysitting someone for a neighbour, who we barely knew. He was about four at the time, and everytime she babysitted him he would call down to my room to watch me play on my pc, or ask to play on it himself. As my sister moved away, and as he was spending most of his time in our house with my brother (a year older) and the two of them either playing on my computer or watching me play, I was his babysitter from then on.

Over the years, he stayed with us many times, or I was asked to go down to stay with him there, and we became good friends. I'm sure that if someone who didn't know me saw me sitting on the bed with him reading Calvin & Hobbes, they would probably think the worst. After all, what would two people with such a huge age gap - an adult and a child - have in common? Well, plenty! We just clicked as friends, we - sometimes with my brother, sometimes not - would play on the computer with each other, go for walks down to the nearby ruined castle with the dogs, sit on the grass and talk about life, the universe and everything.

I'm turning thirty six this year, he's turning twenty two and has just finished his degree at college, and because that college is a few hundred miles away, we hardly see each other at all. During his most recent visit he had to finish some coursework so I loaned him my laptop for a few hours - his mother came to collect him at 11pm and he gave her his bag, and said he'd take a taxi out home, as he hadn't really had a chance to spend any real time with me due to his college work. My flatmates - other friends of his - went to bed soon after but he stayed with me until 3am, watching television, catching up and just having a laugh.

If you'd seen us at any stage before he turned eighteen, maybe especially when he was a child, you'd probably think the worst. But you'd be wrong, and I think you're wrong about the image that caused all this ruckus.

How Can Those Pictures Be Real If Our Eyes Aren't Real

People can't hang out shirtless with younger folks anymore? No more backyard BBQs or photo ops at the pool? WTF man. Everybody just needs to chill. Nothing sexual about that photo.

Folks in this thread saying stuff like how can a 13y/o relateto a 20y/o dude, or the 13y/o is not cognizant; not everyone is the same.

I don't think I have ever had real friends that were my age. Not trying to sound like this super mature and intelligent person, just how it was. I did hang out with the guys at school, but not the same amount as I did with with people older than me. We just clicked. When I was 16 most of my friends were 20+. And now that I am 25, I think my youngest friend is 29.

I only say this, because there is nothing sexual about that picture. It's simply two friends hanging out, and god knows how many other people are in the room chilling with them.

At the same time I get why some folk aren't O.K with their own daughters hanging out with older people.

I have to say though, most younger kids these days that I meet are significantly more mature than the ones I grew up with. It might have something to do with the current landscape of social media, and exposing them to things at a younger age. Weather that is good or bad is a different topic.

I'm more worried about why the kid is always squinting. Does the Smith family health plan not cover vision?

The bigger issue that needs to be investigated is why Jaden always has the expression on his face of that of a dog trying to pass a peach seed through its lower bowel.

Doesn't mean anything to you. I don't expect everyone to share my sensibilities. But at the end of the day I just wouldn't be cool with my young 13 year old daughter chillin' in bed with a 20 year old dude. Family friend or not I'd put that shit in check.

[Personal Anecdote]
If you'd seen us at any stage before he turned eighteen, maybe especially when he was a child, you'd probably think the worst. But you'd be wrong, and I think you're wrong about the image that caused all this ruckus.

I'd think you were just a friendly person unless I saw something that specifically made me uncomfortable. Then I'd respectfully put that behavior in check. I'm trusting but I'm not naive to the horrible things that happen in the world...so I'd just want a certain level of appropriateness maintained. There is no right or wrong regarding this. Different people have different sensibilities. If you're cool with a 13 year old girl chillin in bed with a grown man then ok. I'm not. We just sharing perspectives. Doesn't make us right or wrong. Just different.

I've been friends with PLENTY of my friends younger siblings. But somehow I was able to maintain those friendships without me and them on a bed with my shirt off, go figure....

When I was young around 15-18 and my mothers friend would bring her young kid over and they wanted to play videogames I'd just bring the console from my room downstairs into the living room. Why? Cause I only had my bed to sit on in my room when I played games and didn't feel comfortable having someone that young in my room in the bed with me. Didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea. That's just how I was raised by my parents. "Some things just look bad regardless of your intentions, keep it appropriate".

I really wouldn't say they're both "in bed" - more like they're sitting/resting on the bed. Is there a difference? Yes. Especially since they were with friends in the room. I think there is nothing to this "controversy".
Yep, if they were alone it might be a little more weird, but that's obviously not the case

Well, Jada is right...it IS other people putting their own dirty context onto the picture, which is why as a parent you don't allow these situations to manifest.

I have a daughter, if I walked into the room I'd say "sit up, and you, put on a shirt".

Why is a 20 year old hanging out with children, including a 13 year old? I don't think they're going to have sex, I just see no reason for why a grown adult would be hanging out in bed with a 13 year old.

Would you be cool with your 13yo daughter chilling in bed with a 20 year old male "friend"?

Meanwhile, some 13 year old girl who's being physically abused by her parents/whomever goes un-investigated...

This is fucking stupid. There was nothing wrong with those photos, and the CPS should be spending resources on investing actual child abuse. When I was 20, I was often friends with younger kids. We played video games and read comics and shit. Nothing weird about it. When I was 13-14, I hung out with older kids, doing the same shit. People really are projecting their own...whatever, onto this situation.

Other posters in this indicate that they are family friends. And my parents were quite comfortable with us hanging out with our family friends, both older and younger than us. I'd be quite comfortable with it as well.
Random strangers I'd have a problem with, not bloody friends.

stupidity is stupid.

Werent there other people all hanging out, and one of those people her older brother who is friends with the shirtless guy.

I better stay away from the beach because I am alway shirtless and I am sure there will be 13 year old girls around.

Um, why is it ok for half naked 20 year old man to be in the bed with a 13 year old girl again? This is not lol the smiths are crazy hyperbole, but any other parent would be upset if they saw their 14 yr old daughter in such a situation.

"On a bed" and "in bed" can have drastically different meanings, as evidenced by this completely unremarkable photo of a child and adult relaxing near each other.

Who knows, maybe something weird is going on, but to draw conclusions from this exact picture requires some serious projection on the part of the viewer.

Sort of reminds me of that mess of a case a coach in Pennsylvania (or somewhere around there) got into last year.

Kids escape the bathroom after a bath and are running around and dancing naked.
As a parent, you think it's hilarious/adorable.
As the guy handling the film, you think it's child porn.
