Will other bounty hunters help in Metroid Prime 2?

I was just watching the video on the demo disk, and it seemed to imply that Samus may have to cooperate with other bounty hunters sometime in the game.

Has Nintendo said anything about that? I haven't really been keeping up with this game.

I don't think so. I think those guys were all killed off before Samus got there. Team combat isn't part of the Metroid universe. Except for Metroid Fusion and arguably Super Metroid, Samus works alone.

I don't think so. You might be thinking about the Galactic Federation Troopers who are more like the Galactic army. They are the same guys as the ones accompaying Samus in the Metroid Fusion intro and the dead guy you find in Super Metroid.

You guys are certainly party poopers. :P

I thought that part where the trooper was shooting was totally badass. That should actually be part of the game.

Yeah. The guy was so badass he got owned by something Samus has no problem taking out in a few seconds.

I don't know that I actually want to work along side them, but I would like sections where I could at least walk into room and see them blown apart by the enemies lol.

I think it'd be neat if, during about 90% of the game, Samus would be the only one you'd see. But during some sections, you could have a weak trooper taking out a few enemies here and there (especially in areas where it's exceedingly obvious that it'd be nearly impossible to do by yourself).

It'd only be neat if a few select areas of the game had you taking out enemies in one section, and the other hunter would be taking out enemies in another section. And not in that "the other hunter should be doing another area of the game but I know it's not really happening" way, which was the way it was in Metal Gear Solid 2 when Snake was dismantling bombs alongside Raiden. It'd be cool if it were actually possible to follow the trooper and watch him take out the enemies.

I had a question, perhaps someone can answer it.

In the demo, all the enemies had circle shadows like in the last game.

Yet in some more recent screenshots, they have more realistic, full body shadows.

I'm assuming the screens are newer than what was playable in the demo, but which is the final game most likely to have?

The demo was from E3 or before (I say before since it didn't include the boss fight- but they could have easily just cut that out). I think it will have realistic shadows when the game is released.

I have the GI issue with the MP2 blowout. There's a section that suggest that there will be *some* interaction with galactic soldiers.

As for the shadow issue--It looks like Retro is planning on only doing shadows for Samus and the bosses. Basically, they are taking the same route as Capcom for RE4 by dumping shadows for increases elsewhere.

There's a screenshot of some random centipede monster with shadows... nothing gave me the impression that it was a boss. I could be wrong.

it would be interesting if nintendo "flipped the script" on the metroid universe and added some cooperative elements to the series.

Personally, I'm up for whatever they want to do with Metroid. I'd be really excited to see more of the universe and the things going on in it, including human civilizations/culture/government.

Being alone is part of what has made the series great... but we've had plenty of games that have already given us that aspect. Something new can't hurt. What makes Metroid Metroid is more of an overall atmosphere, not little details IMO.

I loved the Adam/Samus relationship and their interaction in Fusion. As much as I like to see Samus remain mysterious, getting into her head and finding out what she is feeling is interesting.
