Metroid Prime 4, 17 minutes gameplay 4K60

OLED+HDR+120Hz with a better battery does sound nice. Wish they offered a more expensive model right from the get go.

Same reason why Sony doesn't have a PS5 Pro with a bundled disc drive... to avoid price shock.

They'd rather bundle Mario Kart temporarily than put an OLED screen in there, plus you get people to double dip.

You can always play it on a OLED TV.

(I'm trolling you a little, yes, but I really think the screen is the last thing one should worry about when playing a Metroid game).
I just think this game would great on an OLED handheld at 60fps. Not sure why you're on my nuts about that.

feels like a time capsule: "this is what games looked like ~10 years ago".
Good for a handheld I guess but damn unimpressive/old if you don`t exclusively play on one.

Yes and no - the scene complexity is similar to what you'd have seen in 7th gen, but I think the art direction does a lot of heavy lifting. I'm playing Okami at the moment, which is a similar situation. Scene complexity and polygon counts are pretty low, but it looks stellar, thanks to the art direction, and probably always will. I honestly wish more games took this approach - we'd get more, less buggy games, more often.

Not sure if posted, but this gave a good sense of the generational differences:

I recommend watching a video of Titanfall 2 (2016) and then put on this Metroid (2025). Mind-blowing, it seems that in the Nintendo universe we are in 2015 xD

Hell yeah! That joystick and mouse control scheme reminds me of actual consoles! Where they had unique and different things to offer, rather than just being a screenless gaming laptop that is software-locked out of 95% of the games it's capable of playing.

Sure is funny how all the Nintendo fanboys are suddenly gushing over graphics, when in the past it's always been "but it's not about the graphics".

I stand corrected with crow in my face this actually looks quite decent. Very cohesive visual language and really clean iq, looks considerably better than other Primes (the only yardstick i will use) in asset quality, lighting, geometry. Very atmospheric and the music was outstanding as well.

Agree… +4K+60fps+better textures+particles effects+better lighting etc etc… Like every modern game.
Nah. Very basic effects, destruction, physics, geometry, and texture work. Nothing mind blowing or modern about this.

If you want a game showcasing what the Switch 2 is capable of, look no further than Cyberpunk 2077. This isn't it.

At least we know that this game will be better than Halo Infinite, when comparing flagship sci-fi title to another...Retro studio have a solid record with the franchise....

This game is gonna be so badass it may be my goty.

The quality will be remembered long after the price is forgotten. We learned that lesson with PS5 Pro.

No OLED for this is a TRAVESTY
I'm hoping that the LCD panel has local dimming, since it has HDR. Which isn't quite as good as OLED, but would still be miles better than a standard LCD.

Of course, I'm playing this mamma-jamma on my TV anyway!

And to think that Prime 4 is a upconverted Switch 1 game, and it runs at 120fps in 1080, so there must be a ton of headroom. Prime 5 at 60 is gonna look insane.

These are early days for the Switch 2, and it's only gonna get better as time goes on. I just hope Nintendo continues to prioritize 60fps.

Yep. With DLSS available I'm hoping it's the norm. Age of Calamity running sub-30fps in 2020 was unacceptable. No more of that please.
The Age of Imprisonment trailer has me a bit worried. Some beeeeeg stutters on there. Once it got to gameplay footage it seemed to smooth out. I'll be interested in seeing the framerate analysis on that one…

I would have liked them rather to improve the overall graphic quality instead of just pushing the resolution up. Wouldn't mind 1080o 60fps if there are better effects etc. Good televisions (I have a Sony) are able to anyway display lower resolutions at much better quality.

Did you watched the comparison video? They already did that, it's not just a res bump.

Maybe its because i just watched DF's DOOM The Dark Ages vid but this doesnt look impressive at all. Although running this at native 4k/60 is kind of impressive (assuming it is native 4k).

It's not impressive, the switch 1 version just looks so bad in comparison.

This looks like a GameCube game in 4K60
