Will square go all out on next gen FFs?

With the comments they made about how long it takes to make a full game with FF:demo type gaphics, im starting to wonder. But I sure as hell hope they do...

I can't imagine how brilliant the new summons will look. All of the ps3s power for example concentrated on rendering Bahamut...mmm :)

Note: I realize they haven't even released FF12 yet, but we all know square has multiple teams at work at the same time, thus FF13 could easily already be one or more years into production.

Yeah, and we'll watch it a couple of times and then wish it was skippable. :D

Speak for yourself. ;p Summons are still one of my fav aspects of FF. They just bring on this show of force like nothing else in the game. :)

I think they will, although I'm concerned they'll go all out on a remake of a certain PSX game instead of going all-out on a brand-new game, which I'd much rather see.

Hopefully this added power enables them to realize their visions much more vividly and precisely. I was a bit disappointed with the PS2 renditions of Final Fantasy. I really look forward to FFXII, but I must admit that it does look a bit drab, graphically. With the PS2, in a way the graphics took a step forward, and they also took a step back...

The models in FFX were markedly better than any PSX rendition, but the PS2 was not powerful enough to render 3d landscapes on par with the prerendered backgrounds on the PSX versions of Final Fantasy. Landscapes are a HUGE part of any visual composition... I view them as even more important than the characters. So although few may share my opinion, I would still have to say that I preferred the look of the PSX Final Fantasies (the prerendered backgrounds) to the PS2 versions.

After seeing the FF7 demo on PS3, I'm truly excited about Final Fantasy again because now we have a machine powerful enough to not only provide extremely detailed characters, but the backgrounds will be done justice as well.

I think it was the Unreal Engine demonstration that had a tower with a ringing bell and a huge shimmering sea that reminded me of Chrono Trigger so much. I'm somewhat glad that we didn't get a PS2 Chrono Trigger if it means that there will be one on PS3, because I now believe the game can finally be done justice in 3d.
