Because I really like Zelda's music, and I think this next game will be great. I genuinely am rooting for this game to live up to everyone's expectations. And soundtrack is part of that.

I think Koji Kondo is a pretty talented composer, but he doesn't seem to put much effort into most of his work, probably because he's always working on so many different things at once.

I loved Wind Waker BSO, and I liked it more than OOT so...

It´s obvius that the new pace of the game will affect to the style of the B.S.O. Myself would like to see some choral themes with voices and some epic musics combined with more traditional music.

There is some great stuff in OoT(kokiri woods) but liek Etiolate I really liked WW's ST. The chilled out sitar and eastern stuff was especially refreshing.

Having played WoW, that sets the standard in terms of fantasy RPG music, imo. Simply blew me away. Zelda needs to go fully orchestral, real instruments etc.

Why are Nintendo so hesitant to use real, orchestrated music in their games? I mean, they finally got the possibility to DO so (more easily), because they're using GC discs instead of carts. The Zelda games would definitely gain a lot from using orchestrated music. Dynamic music can be nice, but it adds little to the atmosphere to be honest. Especially when you're still sticking with cheap MIDI sound.

Completley agree. There was a question to miyamoto if the new zelda would use orchestrated music , and miyamoto was like maybe, which would mean no.

Also, there was 4 music composers at Wind Waker, not only Koji Kondo.

Similar to the whole Jak and Daxter trailer. They used a suprisingly great Enya song and it really fit the game beautifully...but the final product was filled with one of the worst soundtracks I've heard in a while.

Similar to the whole Jak and Daxter trailer. They used a suprisingly great Enya song and it really fit the game beautifully...but the final product was filled with one of the worst soundtracks I've heard in a while.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking about too. I really liked that Enya song, so fitting and made the game seem like an epic tale of sorts, and then the actual game ended up with a cheap-sounding, easily forgotten soundtrack. :/

RE1, I agree...but RE2's score was much better than Zelda's. Still, that was kind of a joke...yet kind of not.

You should look again. It has nothing to do with being "PSX or PS2". That is a list of all of the soundtracks which I have here. The point being is that I like ALL of them more than Zelda's music. However, I have slimmed down the list to games which I place WELL above it.

A quick glance at the list gives me the impression there aren't just PSX/PS2 soundtracks on it. Maybe you didn't actually look at it? I can understand why, though...

Id like to see more Hollywood composers doing games soundtracks. Harry Gregson Williams music for shrek 2 was awesome.

!?! granted I'm not too familiar with alot of those sound tracks and definatly not familiar with OST CD's but no way in hell is SF3 sound track better then any Zelda soundtrack...unless people really like the SF3 rap.....ugh.

Since when has any Zelda game set a new standard for a soundtrack? Possibly the first title, but beyond that I don't think the game have really offered anything other games weren't already doing.

RE1, I agree...but RE2's score was much better than Zelda's. Still, that was kind of a joke...yet kind of not.

Out of that list, these are the games which I've played. I can't really comment on the rest. But the fact that you listed the above means to me that you REALLY must hate the music found in Zelda games. I mean, Morrowind is like...one song. Yeah, it's a good song, but it not that good. Riddick? Come on. MP2 is pretty good. JSRF is a matter of taste. People either love it or hate it. Ikaruga? Now you're just being funny. PoP was pretty typical stuff for a game of its theme. I liked Beyond Good and Evil's soundtrack, but it wasn't that memorable. And of course the ED soundtrack was great, but compared to OoT, it just doesn't compare. I was actually playing ED at the time I made this thread, by the way. SC2? Meh.

What you are saying to me is that you have little experience with game music. The best soundtracks in that list remain unlisted by you. These are the best of those soundtracks. Zelda doesn't even begin to approach the quality of these...

I have ALL of these and have listened to them many times. Some of the very best soundtracks on there are things likely have NEVER heard (such as the brilliant Soukaigi soundtrack or Elemental Gearbolt). Tell me, have you actually heard these? How could you pass judgment if that isn't the case?

I will be honest here, I think OoT has a painfully average soundtrack with some rather awful tunes spread amongst a few solid ones. I don't "hate" it, but I certainly don't like it. It's boring, uninspired music that does little for me.

I wouldn't call the OoT soundtrack uninspired, that is pretty ignorant. The forest temple music still give me chills. That was one crazy melody.
