I think it's got to a point just about everyone has had enough. At least enough to turn the tide in gaming, movies and elections the past year or two. It's snowballed one way, so now it's snowballing back.
The economic part is something that everyone gets affected, but many people can sustain it, or it doesn't even hurt them at all. So they might not really care. I'm not even a rich guy, but with a decent job and house etc... I didnt really care that mortgage rates increased 4% where my investment condo has a mortgage of over 6%. I can float it. And if I dont care, a guy making better money with a fully paid off house will care even less. In fact, they might even enjoy it as they lick their chops freeing up money to buy foreclosed homes for dirt cheap as a long term investment. So for those of you who think bad economic times hurts everyone, no it doesnt. When the Global Crisis happened in 2008, some coworkers and I were thinking about tossing in $25,000 each and buying a foreclosed home in Vegas or Arizona (places with lots of tourist spots people panicked and dumped homes) as a shared vacation home. So I was one of them back then scoping out mega deals on homes.
BUT, when then you add on non-financial issues (often DEI/Woke-ish topics), now you got hot topics that aggravates people on that front.
The more stupid things that happen just gives more options to piss people off where it gets to a point more people hate you than like you.
