Will you pay the $10 - $20 it will cost to upgrade older games to Switch 2 goodness (poll)?

You can use emulators like Yuzu and dump the data from an original copy to your pc to run the game while using a legal version. That's how I've been playing switch games this whole generation while in better performance and graphics. Yuzu and others are godsend even for users with legal copies.
Clearly that is not what they do

If this your first switch, and you go with switch2, will you buy the version then pay the additional 20 dollars to receive the enhanced version?

Yeah, I'll at least get the upgrade pack for Tears of the Kingdom and maybe for Breath of the Wild too. If the Xenoblade Chronicles games get upgrade packs then I'll get those as well.

Are these all included in your Nintendo online + expansion subscription?

The BotW and TotK upgrades are included with the NSO Expansion Pack, but the ones that are essentially DLC (Kirby and Mario Party) are not.

A bunch of other games are getting free patches that improve performance and add some minor Switch 2 features.

Kirby looks like it has a ton of new content. It is not only a resolution + fps upgrade.

Otherwise going to 60fps is important enough for me that I might buy e few upgrades yes. Xeno X in 60fps will be awesome.

I have the NSO so there is no need to hurry, I will se what is included with it.

Switch 2 upgraded Switch games (e.g., BotW, TotK, Xenoblade 1-3) can be played on PC at much higher quality + mods without the price gouging.

Oh ok. Well if it's an expansion pack as well I'll be 200% buying it for the upgrades and extra content.

I will 100% be buying the jamboree and kirby ones.

I just want a xenoblade 3 patch.

Dunno about for BOTW but definitely for TOTK. Haven't touched BOTW since TOTK. Haven't really felt any reason to go back. TOTK is better in pretty much every way.

These games are playable on the Switch 2 with no cost.

But, if the upgrades are impressive then $10 MAX!!!

Don't be fucking greedy Nintendo. Don't be a Sony. MS at least has Smart Delivery and no upgrade fee.
Nintendo doesn't need to look at Sony for being greedy, they know it themselves perfectly well.

This is what they've said so far:
Selected upgrade packs at no additional cost

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members playing on Nintendo Switch 2 will soon gain access to upgrade packs for both the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom games, allowing them to enjoy the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of these games at no additional cost. Note: you must have either The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch to use the respective upgrade pack.
I wouldn't discount more being added, but since they specifically say "selected upgrade packs", I assume there are some that will not be added at all.

Cheers dude. I'll happily pay for the ones that are like a dlc pack too. So, no issues there.

Given that the retail Kirby and the Forgotten Land Switch 2 Edition is going for $110 Australian dollarydoos, yeah you bet your arse I'll be buying the upgrade alone and applying it to the used Switch 1 copy I bought last week for $50 AUD.

I mean, I voted 'yes' -- but there's need be an option for 'sometimes' -- it really depends on the game, and what the 'upgrade' includes.

Nickel and Diming people like that is enough to put me off the whole system. I've had however many years of Microsoft bumping games up to 4k60 for nothing. Really Nintendo ought to be using it as a way to encourage people to jump in as soon as possible, not putting additional fees between you and the games you already own.

TBH, I was a little bit on the fence about a Switch 2 anyway, I probably would have held off until there were more games out I wanted, etc. But I think this just pushes me toward a PC handheld.

EDIT: Why are there so many people on here who just post weird reactions?

Yyyyyyep. I don't have a Switch and I'm (eventually) getting a 2 to play some games of the catalog and I suppose some of the new ones if they ever show something I'm interested in. So, from playing BotW in Wii U to play TotK in Switch 2 it should be a pretty hefty upgrade. Worth it in my personal super particular case.

Feels bad to be in the same ship U_U

Yes buy a $2000 PC to avoid a $10 upgrade, amazing.
What a disingenuous argument. You are ignoring the $500 console that $10 upgrade is also locked behind and pulling a random number out of your ass. And it's not like a PC will be only used to play "$10 upgrade switch" games, a gaming PC is far more than that. It's a multimedia machine, plays games movies music, emulation. You can literally perform work on it. It's like comparing a watch, to a cellphone, yes both of them tell you what time it is, but clearly one of them can do far more than just tell time. The PC will be able to always do far more things, whereas the Switch 2 will always just be a Switch 2.

They'll really benefit from it based on what we've seen. As good as Kirby and the Forgotten Land was, the framerate was rough.

I will for kirby, fantastic game. Then i don't have to with TotK. I might with metroid, as in get the switch 1 version and the upgrade separately.

I will pay it for Kirby and Metroid (I guess this counts?). I would have paid for BotW but it's included in NSO.
