Hopefully a good sign

I can't see the bar, but I have an icon tray with a percentage. 67% right now.

Well, Razer Synapse shit the bed in Windows 10. Completely unresponsive. Going to reinstall now. It also wiped all of my nvidia control panel settings, but I guess that's because I was still on the old GTA V drivers and they weren't compatible. Running the latest now and it seems fine.

ah,

nice.

Thank you.

No problem.

I'm installed and setting up apps. Make sure automatic updates are set and retry to cmd prompt code. I did it in c: and system32 folder

I did everything and it still fails. In update history I have 6 failed Win 10 updates. Maybe I'll try when I wake up. :/

Oh shit, the command works.

You have to have the windows update window already open, and make sure to launch CMD as administrator.

So I figured i'd try that command even though i have the folder and it was around 6 gigs. It started the upgrade process and it's currently configuring the upgrade...

How do you do this?
At first it didn't work. So, what I did is I download every "Update for Windows 7 for x64......". Restart the system. Check for updates again and saw 3 new Security updates. Updated, restart, used the cmd thing. Alas, it started downloading the windows 10.

wuauclt.exe /updatenow worked as well, but it only says downloading update, not windows 10. But I see the BT folder, I guess it's all right.

Edit: 10 minutes now, the size of BT folder still stays at 140M, is it normal?

Decided to try the windows update route for my tablet.

wuauclt.exe /updatenow and then pressing check for updates triggered the download on my Surface Pro, install is preparing now.

I think realistically we're looking at 5am GMT now for the UK and presumably most of Europe. Midnight in every country would have been cool but official news sources are stating 5am for the UK (midnight for the US East Coast).

Tried the cmd.exe command line trick three or four times now and the update just fails; obviously because Microsoft haven't pulled the trigger on their end yet.

Still though thanks to this thread I'm all pre-loaded and ready to fly first thing tomorrow morning. So thanks guys.

that cmd prompt made my bt folder delete itself

its now went from 5.91 gb to 57mb

Mine did the opposite - was on 57mb and then running the command made it jump up to 2.94gb. However my HD space didn't change. It's probably doing something weird in the background. I'm just going to leave it alone now, when it's ready I'm sure it'll tell me.

Cant get the wuauclt.ext thing to work, it did originally then restarted and now nothing.

FML

GUYS! QUICK UPDATE FOR THOSE DOING THE wuauclt.exe /updatenow:

It may not be the case for everyone, but my experience led me to believe Windows Update needs to automatically download and install updates for this to work. I had it set to not do so originally, which is why I couldn't get the Windows 10 update.

MAKE SURE YOUR UPDATE SETTINGS ALLOW WINDOWS TO DO ITS DUTY!

*ahem*

carry on folks. :3

Yeeeeeees.

Thanks!

Finally got the icon on my task bar but I'm not sure if I already have the download folder.

I can see hidden folders but I'm not seeing any folder named BT.

Only thing that has changed for me is this:

changed from: Today at XX:XX to the now Today at 12:24PM (Failed)...Hmmm...I wonder what failed...

Press "view update history"

It will show the Windows 10 update as failed. You have it downloaded but aren't in the rollout wave yet. Wait.

This might be a good thing.

It's failed because it's not time for you to update yet. When it's midnight in your zone it will hopefully update.

Basically keep WU on its default settings (aka Install updates automatically (recommended)) and everything should happen automatically..

I checked Windows Update and I see "Downloading Windows 10", but it says "21 KB total, 49% complete..." Also, my $Windows.~BT folder is only 140MB. I don't understand.

Finally got the BT folder at 6.44 GB. The upgrade to win 10 home failed. I guess I have to wait patiently till midnight.
I think this is going to start the download but not the actual Windows 10 install. I did it earlier.
Yup. That's what happened. I only need to get the BT folder anyway since it is not showing up on my Drive C
