anyone know a fix for the NVidia multi gpu problems? This time I did a clean reset, and let the windows update do everything. NVidia still isn't detecting my second GPU so none of my other monitors are working

Alright, looks like the update was related to Windows 10, the $Windows.BT~ folder jumped up from 2.7gb to 5.88gb

Is there anything I can do now but wait? From what I understand that's about as big as that folder gets.

Dumb question. How do I install Nvidia drivers. Doesn't seem to install when I download it from the website.

Check Windows Update, they'll fail if that's installing something and if it is, it's probably installing the NVidia driver right now.

No problems installing.

Coming from 7, need to get used to a few things otherwise it seems the same, mostly.

Is there any way to change the search box so that it searches google instead of bing? :S

I'm at work and contemplating on upgrading my system. How long does a typical upgrade install take? I'm wondering if a lunch break gives it enough time, or maybe I should wait until the end of the day?

So my SSD is full. Will the update replace old windows files or am i forced to put it on my other drive and then clean install?

Sorry if this has been answered to death but here goes:

How does one upgrade from an Insider build to a retail one without user data loss? Is it a matter of simply firing up the retail iso and entering a retail key when prompted?

Can an Insider build (professional) be upgraded to an Enterprise build while maintaining user data?

Huh, display was 1024x720 on install, was able to get it to do 1920x1080 finally but some applications like the X-box app would suddenly throw be back to the "default" (in it's words) resolution of 1024x720.

A bit buggy, but I'll deal that that.

What is bothering me is that there is new background processes like Cortana that I can't kill. I don't want Siri--er--"Cortana," Microsoft and don't care about that feature. I've hidden it off the taskbar for good reason. Now let me actually KILL the process so it isn't running in the background, please?

Windows 10 feels much better on my tablet than Windows 8.1

I also just relized that Minecraft for Windows 10 is free, it runs way better than the original version too.

I have two 'Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro' Failed updates in my windows update, with the error 80240020.

I guess I'll just wait a few hours..

Failing big time here. My desktop PC is the only one of three to have downloaded things into the BT folder, but no notification yet. I ran the tool to create a USB stick to install from but that failed twice. I then ran the tool directly on my tablet which started installing win10, then just quit with 'something has happened'. My wife's surface had the win10 icon but it has now disappeared.

Worst thing is that if you retry, it seems to redownload things again (or is just dog slow on my atom tablet)

It's not showing up as free for me on mine. Is it only free for those that have it on xbox already?

You can disable Cortana in it's(her?) settings.

In my country Cortana isn't available and is disabled by default, and not taking any background resources.

It's probably a regedit thing, similar to the W7 logon screen. I haven't looked into it yet, though.
Wow this shit is so basic, why does the average user have to do that? If it was a solid color or something I wouldn't mind but it's this gaudy Windows 10 ad splashscreen.

Got a fully formatted Surface Pro 3 and getting that stupid 80240020 error. Followed the guide, deleted everything in the folder and it redownloaded fine. Then whilst it was busy preparing i think the surface screen turned off and now it just brings up that error again.

So gona try again deleting it all, downloading gigs of data and seeing if it works again. This time its plugged in, and set to never turn off.

I am finally on W10, and everything seems to be working like it should BUT my resolution sometimes get crazy:

What is happening?

(It's a laptop with a i7 4500U with HD 4400 graphics. The intel driver was updated along with W10)

My upgrade is successful, but one thing that's bothering me is how the clock in the taskbar is not vertically centered while in "Use small taskbar buttons" mode.

Yeah same, I'm going nowhere either. Windows just asked me to restart because it has installed updates, done that, now the BT folder is back to 140 KB lol... ah whatever. I'll just leave the machine running...

Those that are getting the "Failed" in Windows Update, is this before Windows tried to download Windows 10 or after it's downloaded?

I have the full $Windows.~BT folder, but it's not tried to download anything in Windows Update yet. I just receive the failed message in View Update History when I turn my PC on.

That's the same error code I have, I've got 4 errors here but for W10 Home.

Again, same.

Again, same.

I got like 10 of those errors after doing the CMD trick enough times.

1) I need to delete all files in: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

2) Run the CMD again and redownload 5.3GB. Finally, installation went through.

urghh should have expected that my laptop will have problem with connecting to wifi after upgrading... :\
edit: ok... driver from 2011 works but latest driver doesn't... damn you crappy broadcom
