But isn't that a clean install disc, and it needs W10 key, which we won't have before upgrading?
Win10 with classic shell ahh much better. I really dislike all those tiles in the start menu since they are just distractions and the programs menu isn't as functional as before.
Updated my Surface Pro 3 this morning. Quick impressions
Edge doesn't bring over anything from IE by default. You can quickly import Favorites but not passwords (UGH).
Doesn't seem to be a tablet mode in Edge.
I preferred my desktop going horizontal not vertical.
Everything else is super snappy.
This should be in the OP. You can run a clean install from there.Hmm, downloading with that upgrade tool thing now. That's just as good as waiting for the regular update, yeah?
Yep, a lot of it is still a step backwards from Win 7. Control Panel/Settings is the biggest problem.
So this W10 thing looks cool and all, but it reset my touchpad-settings. I don't want inverted scrolling, and it scrolls really fucking slowly now.
I tried looking under mouse properties but couldn't figure it out.
Edit: Found inversion...
Edit 2: And scroll-speed, but maxing it out still feels sluggish.
So how do I make my PC start downloading it?
Well at least you guys can get it smh...never got the Reserve app to even appear in my taskbar...on two laptops mind you!

Wait you can get classic menu for windows 10?
So how do I make my PC start downloading it?
How to force the update:
1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder, but not the folder itself.
2. Now, run a command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" with no quotes.
3. Wait a minute, and watch the folder you just emptied. It should start to have files show up.
4. Go to your Control Panel > Windows Update and your Windows 10 should start downloading. Once that is completed, you will be prompted to begin the installation process*
*may not work in territories where W10 is not released
Hope that helps
If you really want it you can reformat. I had to do that on my laptop and my desktop.
How far "classic" do you want to go?Wait you can get classic menu for windows 10?
Yep, I tried getting used to it, but not being able to pin the apps on the left is worse than the 7 way. And the non-metro app icons look bad there anyway.Win10 with classic shell ahh much better. I did a complete clean install from W8 to W8.1 and installed all updates. Icon still isn't showing on my HP laptop.
I need to figure out how to get some of my Recently Watched 'movies' from appearing in Quick Access -> Recent Files lol
Yea I'm surprised they still haven't migrate everything to the new format but instead just wrap the simplified format on top of the old stuff... The biggest win with Win10 is basically just being able to run Apps in windows so they behave like desktop apps I guess.

Anyone in australia have it yet?
Have a link to this? And you ran the .bat file to force the Windows 10 icon to show up?
Have a link to this?
Yep. When I upgraded Start8 was still installed. It kind of threw me for a second. Speaking of which, Start10 is apparently a thing!:

In theory, yes. But its design will look different at any rate. 3rd party malware will help you get back to real Windows 2000 style start menus.
yea. Windows doesn't let you run the installer (at least for Classic Shell) but just rename it to something else and it will install.
Unfortunately i dont use apps. All i notice are regressions.
UAC is still broken and so is the general permissions compared to Win 7. I beleive it was the same in 8. Turning UAC off causes problems rather than just allowing everything to run elevated by default. It works perfectly in 7.
Well something like this yeah.
I used classic shell for 8.1 so more like that again

Anyone else receiving a blank white page when opening the Windows Store?
Classic shell works fine for me, have you tried installing it again?
