Anyone in australia have it yet?
Yep.
Got it with this link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Screw the windows update rubbish.

No, a Windows 10 reset or refresh will take you back to Windows 10.
I did a reset after and during that it asked if I wanted to wipe all drives or just the one with Windows on it. So assume it would be the same here, but I'm not 100% on that.
So is anyone else still unsure how to get this to actually start?
I'm using a Geforce 7800 GT. Windows 10 installed a generic driver which had a low max screen resolution , so i had to get the windows 7 driver from the nvidia website and everything now works fine.
I've done the force method twice now, worked problem free both times. Your mileage may vary.
Yeah, I'm also seeing both keys. Maybe it has something to do with all the web traffic.I did a upgrade and a reset after that, my W10 isn't activated either. And when I try to activate it manually it gives an error and tells me to try again later. I can see both my old W7 key (or the last digits of it) and the new W10 key though, I guess I'll just wait and see.
I am not completely sure.Good. Does it replace the hidden factory reset partition on my HDD with a new one?

Yeah this method works but people really struggle at following simple directions
Pardon my ignorance, but how do you start a command prompt in windows 8?

Looks like I can't get it on my HP Stream 7 yet. Tells me to 'Check your pc before installing Windows 10 Insider Preview'. Not sure if there's a way around it.
Is it normal for it to get frozen a long time at preparing for installation?
Huh? Win+X is the only thing that has worked for me throughout the Windows 8 era. That works too, although my windows key + X shortcut got screwed up by something else a long time ago.
It didn't work for me before (just, nothing happened), but after I uninstalled and reinstalled the update that adds GWX.exe this worked now.I've done the force method twice now, worked problem free both times. Your mileage may vary.

If you have a brand-name laptop or desktop with a hidden restoration partition installed by the manufacturer, the updated image should still come from the manufacturer - at some point.
Don't quote me on this. But in theory the way the Windows 10 Refresh and Reset commands work, they might need some manner of a hidden partition for system tools as well. Almost like Mac OS does this.

Don't know where I'd be without it. Probably still crying while trying to navigate the Control Panel for some shit.
If you upgrade or do a clean install to Windows 10, how do you receive your key? do you have to have it beforehand?
Also, can I do an upgrade first and then a clean install after?
Do I have to make an iso or can I just download and install Windows?
If I want to make an iso, how do I do it?
How to force the update:
1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder, but not the folder itself.
2. Now, run a command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" with no quotes.
3. Wait a minute, and watch the folder you just emptied. It should start to have files show up.
4. Go to your Control Panel > Windows Update and your Windows 10 should start downloading. Once that is completed, you will be prompted to begin the installation process*
*may not work in territories where W10 is not released
Hope that helps
Any gestures for forward/back? I preferred metro IE for that reason on touch screen Windows. Would be a shame to lose that.
It's back now in 10 for me. I missed it a lot. Some shell extension or whatever broke the shortcut and I could never find a solution. Never happened to my GF's computer next to me, so it was something I did.
The force method has worked twice for me, including one computer that never even reserved a copy. If your Windows 7/8.1 is completely up to date and you follow the instructions, it should work.
You must upgrade first to get the key according to MS.
Didn't work, everything went as planned until step 4. Went into windows update and...nothing.

Did files start to show up in your previously emptied folder? Did you run the prompt as an admin? Was your 8.1 copy up to date before attempting this? Are you coming from an activated copy of windows/legit version?
