Ok so if I installed Windows on my desktop using an old laptops HDD.

And now windows 10 says it's not legit.

how do I go about paying for Windows 10 pro?

Do I buy Windows 8.1 pro core then pay for the upgrade I'm confused about what I actually pay for and how much?

So on a tablet is there no way to get to the desktop unless you exit tablet mode?

Finally got everything working just dandy. Did a fresh install, got my drivers set, blah blah blah. It was suuuuuuper sluggish at first but smooth as silk now.

Silverlight hasn't been updated for Edge yet though meaning no Netflix on Edge meaning back to Firefox for me.

The "Most used" section of the Start menu is just silly. I want to know exactly where my shortcuts are, rather than needing to find them in a list that might be ordered differently every time I look at it. So I pin my shortcuts on the right side of the menu, but that means they no longer show up in the "Most used" section. The net result is that my "Most used" section is actually a "Most used but not pinned" section, which is lame. So it populates with a bunch of garbage I rarely use.

I just disabled it. Problem now is that there's a lot of dead space... Hmmm.

Seriously, my google chrome is still not working, I deleted it from my task bar and clicked the reg link, but it's still not working

can you uninstall those crapware programs like People, Maps, Camera etc? I can uninstall most of that stuff but some don't appear to be regular store apps.

man, as someone coming from 7: every app is terrible

is there any must have? everything from twitter to facebook to netflix is super inferior than just opening a chrome window

So I ran into a snafu when trying to delete my windows.old file. For certain folders, I need permission from "SYSTEM" to delete the files. I see no options to seize ownership of the folder when I right click, and switch it to my primary administrator account which has full permissions. Any help on solving this issue would be appreciated. There's over 30 gigs of precious hard drive space being held hostage by shit I don't need anymore.

Damn I just realized, and I'm only basing off touching the fan vents, that my laptop is heating up like a motherfucker with 10.

Hm, I'm contemplating temporarily going back 7. I intend to buy myself a new PC soon anyway.

I am getting an, "Unfortunately your PC is unable to run Windows 10" message when I click the icon. When I view the report, it tells me there is nothing to report right now, and that I can reserve my upgrade, and that when Windows is ready, it will run another report.

How do I fix this?

Can someone advise me on this?

Just like my desktop, my TW801 installed fine but didn't detect the graphics card properly at first. A reboot fixed that and now it's running pretty damn well.

The Netflix app is in dire need of a UI overhaul, it's been the same since debut and hasn't kept pace with updates to every other devices Netflix app.

This whole downgrade to 10 Pro is driving me crazy. I don't understand how it happened, unless Microsoft - for whatever reason - decided to make recovery discs embed the version and key or something (I used a recovery created in Windows 10 Home to reset Windows 10 Professional).

4 times in a row of getting good the same error, modem setup host as soon as it gets to the installation pop-up and you accept. It has to download and prepare everytime. Fucking infuriating.

The apps in the store are still the W8 modern apps... eventually it will be populated with every app under the sun...

So for now things will be kinda meh as devs start posting their win10 apps

Upgraded my Linx 10 windows tablet, took about an hour.

My only issue (so far) was that windows started using a graphics driver designed by microsoft in 2006 which thought my tablet was 64hz and would display everything at about 16 fps, a quick driver check in windows fixed that problem without any fuss.

I dislike how brightness is handled in win10, I can't set it to 0% unless I go find the slide bar in a regular windows window, the touch controls only allow 25% 50% 75% and 100%.

Running windows apps non-fullscreen is so worth the upgrade though, some apps I had would refuse to work in 720p if I was using my tablet on a tv yet they would work at 1280x800 on the device itself, now I can run all those apps without issue at 720p or even smaller.

OK, this is really getting to me. What a boneheaded design decision. Literally the only way to tell which window has focus is to note which program in the taskbar has the dark gray color (as opposed to the black):

I can barely fucking see a difference in those colors!

What happened to different colors on the title bars to indicate active vs. inactive windows? And of course they stripped out the legacy options to even change this yourself.

Edge is pretty terrible as a daily-use browser right now, isn't it? I used IE in Win8 almost exclusively and had no serious issues with that, but Edge...yikes. It's so barebones, and I can't even restore my old bookmarks from a .htm backup! The only way to import stuff is directly from IE, doh.
