Thanks. Is that part of a language pack I can download?

yeah (this right to left is throwing me through a loop)

finding my way back to the control panel was no easy feat either

Not sure if this was asked already but one problem I'm having is "casting" videos from "Metro" apps to other devices like my Xbox One. I used to be able to select other devices to play to from the Charms menu while a video was playing but I'm not sure where (or if) the equivalent exists in 10 without the Charm menu. The replacement for the charms menu (swiping from the right of the screen/trackpad) doesn't seem to have any similar option except "Connect" which seems to be Bluetooth related.

Anyone know?

There is an issue for several games where they won't run in full screen for some reason. If the games works there is a window border still and alt+enter won't force it to full screen. Some games that don't run at all will run if you put it in a windowed smaller screen. So there seems to be a big issue with games running in full screen in general. I hope they fix this.

Go to the "Action Center" (notifications menu, button next to the clock) and press "Connect".

question for GAF, i have a desktop PC running windows 7 and a Macbook Pro. I want to dual boot Windows 10 on my Mac

how can i go about using my free upgrade on the desktop to installing it on the Mac? are there license issues?

It hasn't destroyed my sound, but I ran into a weird bug. Remote desktop connections sometimes nuked my sound, and then when I disconnect and go into the computer, my sound is dead in any app that's still running, but if I restart them, works fine. I don't have a bug report tier replication step and it could be hardware-specific, but just felt like I'd mention this in response.

It screwed up my soundcard settings, and they seem to reset every time I restart the machine. Annoying.

So I installed the intel rapid storage technology, and now my hard drives show up under the safely remove menu? They are showing up as devices.

If I try to uninstall the Intel RST, I get an error that it's pending reboot. A reboot does nothing obviously.

I just did a clean install. I really don't want to do it again.

Also in task manager, my cpu keeps showing 100% usage, but my pc doesn't seem to be pegged.

you can probably disable hot swapping in your bios/uefi if it bothers you. otherwise just ignore it (or use it)

I remember seeing people having this widget like thing for desktop where all executables are placed, as well as folders, etc. without filling the desktop but instead has its own scrollbar. Any idea what it is?

I STILL can't update to Windows 10. It gives me the something on your PC needs to be addressed before installing Windows Insider Preview error.

I go into the Windows BT folder, click setup there and it tells me a file is missing (folder is only 3.76GB.

I still have not seen any prompt from MS saying I'm able to upgrade.

You don't run setup.exe from windows.bt

Check windows update to make sure you have all updates. If you do, there is a registry flag you can change to get it to start the install process

You can also just download the media creation tool

I figured just to wait my turn on the rollout wave before grabbing Windows 10. Not in a rush about it, but has anyone actually been picked to start the installation in the rollout phase here?

...the fuck is my WIN10 Microsoft?

Its on my SP3 and a backup laptop but still waiting to go on my main PC at home.

I wanted my home PC to be the first one I installed it on in case of any hiccups because I use the other two for work during the day. And it'll end up being the last.

One thing that really annoys me is the removal of the OneDrive App. I use OneDrive for my work files and liked having the app shortcut on my taskbar at the bottom of the screen for 1-click access. Now they've done away with the app and moved OneDrive access into File Explorer and now I've got to do 2-clicks instead of one. Yeah..first world problems I know but its really annoying. I have not found a way to pin OneDrive on the bottom taskbar. If someone has this knowledge, please share !!

Settings - system - notifications - Select which icons appear on the taskbar

Weird behaviour: I have iTunes set up to minimize to the taskbar (i.e. show the mini-player toolbar in the tray). If I click the minimize button, it does. If I click the iTunes app icon, it doesn't. It still minimizes, it just doesn't do the taskbar thing. Can't remember if I tried this with 8 to know if this is intentional or a bug. Any input?

Using the media creation tool. Fingers crossed.

That whole upgrade process was extremely borked.

You can drag it from the start menu right into the taskbar.

right click on taskbar -> toolbars -> new toolbar -> select onedrive folder

there is also still a onedrive for business app

But on either computer I right-click the icon and it says "turn on quiet hours", implying that quiet hours are off for both.

strange, that is definitely what it is. If I turn on quiet hours, the icon flips

maybe you can turn off notifications somewhere else too

To those who upgraded from OEM installations, did Windows 10 preserve your manufacturer logo under System Properties?
Like so:

Unrelated, but is there any way to get my window frames to be colored like this again? Making all the windows white makes them all look unselected. :( Same for the taskbar, do I have any options or does it just have to be black now?

Uhhhhh, what the hell. It's been what must have been over 4 or 5 hours & my laptop has been stuck at 45% configuring update. It's past midnight & I wanna get some sleep after returning from the movies.

You can change the taskbar color in the personalize settings menu

for titlebar colors there is a way. I found this guide on google, but I haven't tried it so I don't know if this specific guide works:

http://betanews.com/2015/07/13/how-to-change-title-bar-color-windows-10/

other people managed to get their titlebar colors changed in the thread though so if that one is no good, look around

Speaking of notifications, I hate how often it lights up only to find out there's nothing there. Hope they get that fixed.

There's that trick that's been posted several times. I think Modern apps get a gray box around them. I'd hold out if/when an official solution exists.

So I plan to get an SSD, should I wait to get my SSD first then install Windows 10? Can I choose which drive I can install Windows 10? (Upgrading from Windows 8.1)

anybody's windows not activating? I upgraded it successfully. And it activated fine. Then I did a clean install from a usb booter which I made. And after that it doesn't activate. Could it just be a microsoft server thing?

I don't seem to have any options in my bios to disable hotswapping.

This didn't happen when I did the upgrade or right after my fresh install. I think it happened when I installed the intel RST app.

I have 2 disks in a raid, those don't show up. My SSD and regular sata drive are both showing as devices and in the remove hardware box. Any ideas how I can fix?

Link at the bottom. The post also demonstrates the drawback of doing this. You're not going to get separate colors for focused vs unfocused windows, and you will likely end up with a weird gray box in the unfocused window.
