So my LG android phone is not charging when plugged into USB via microusb cable. I have to switch the phone off and then plug it and then it charges correctly.

In Windows 7 it charged normally.

WTF? Anyone encountered this ?

So dose anyone keep disconnecting from network ? using wi fi?

after installing windows 10 i notes that my wifi keep disconnecting while it showing me I am still connecting to the network..

Thanks. I was hoping that I would be able to pin the shortcut to the start menu but it won't let me. Oh well. No big deal. :/

Yeah... Only desktop apps or Windows Store apps can be pinned.

This is how I have my start menu set up on my work PC though, and it is working quite well for me.

Fixed all my hardlock issues by making sure some Windows 8 specific featureset was activated on my motherboard :D, was some setting about OS identification or whatnot, haven't had a hardlock when during monitor sleep ever since.

Lost all my music and photos :(

Assume it is buried in the windows.old folder somewhere.

It was under public folders on my w7 machine.

And yes I do have backups so all good just a pain.

Is there a way to create a shortcut to the "Network Connections" folder within Control Panel? It's the folder you get when you select to change adapter settings. Shows your ethernet, wifi, etc adapters.

Yes. It's not particularly intuitive though:

1) Search "view network..." and load it up.
2) In the File Explorer address bar just drag the "Network Connections" text to the desktop or wherever you want the shortcut.
3) You can even pin the shortcut to Start if you want a tile.

edit: The above poster is incorrect. You absolutely can pin any shortcut to Start Menu.

I wasn't gonna make the complaint but after realizing the search feature is crap cause it's too precise about spelling but I need to considering win10 gutted my shortcuts overall. My win7 installation had tons of pinned items on the start menu is there anyway to get them back or find out what happened to them?

Does anyone have any experience (or friends) with Android Development on Windows 10 - particularly drivers, Android SDK & ADB etc command line all working when upgrading from 8?

Preferably Android Studio but Eclipse is good enough (most of the tools being the same behind the scenes)

I use Windows 8.1 64 Bit with i7 4790K and drivers for Galaxy S6, Moto 360 (Wear/watch) etc and I am concerned that there are issues if I upgrade. (Getting Moto 360 wear/watch debug drivers working was a SOAB and I dont want to go through that again if W10 upgrade breaks everything)

Well needn't have worried

Upgrade took like 30 mins (SSD) and everything went incredibly smoothly

Only error is a XFast LAN driver error whatever that is but internet works fine so all is good

BTW Does cortana speak? I expected to hear a voice like google now, even if not halo cortana's voice

I didn't check to see if anyone had already posted the solution to this, but if you're having insane memory usage by "system", the culprit is the network drivers. Download these drivers, uninstall your existing network drivers, and install the new drivers. It fixed the problem for me

Is there a fix for the Runtime Broker issue yet? The process is still constantly using a lot of my CPU without any breaks. It's there since I installed W10.

There are several alleged fixes for this. The most recent and popular being to turn off Windows giving you tips about W10 in the settings. But that didn't do anything for me.

I hate this process. My laptop is loud, hot, slow, loses battery fast. All just because of the Runtime Broker process.

edit:
People in here told to wait it out, that it is normal and will go away after a short while. But that does not seem to be the case, it only worked for another process which also took a lot of my CPU.

Don't know if it's Windows 10 related or my speakers are going bust, but my songs are stuttering in iTunes and Groove. It's only every 2 minutes~ or so not often.

I don't think that will fix the problems for everybody. That site looks like it has drivers specifically for Killer NIC's. As far as I know, if you install the wrong drivers, your stuff won't work at all, but this could be a clue that high memory usage by "system" is some sort of driver problem.

Today, I couldn't log in to my Surface Pro 3. I tried the keyboard and the onscreen keyboard. I reset my password. No luck.

I was able to use my old password to log in to my other laptop, and then when I reset the password, was able to log into the other laptop once more.

It's some bizarre Windows 10 bug. So I made a recovery USB stick and now I'm back to 8.1 Windows 10 blows.

is there a way to cut in line to speed up getting the actual install? I signed up for the notification on day 1 and i'm still waiting.

my friend upgraded from windows 7 on his laptop to 10. i then reformatted it for him since he was having some issues, and now it is no longer activated. is there an easy fix?

Can I use an ISO of Win10 from another computer to install it on another PC so I don't have to redownload on the other PC? The other PC has a genuine copy of Win7 installed.

How did you reformat it? Did you reset or did you boot from DVD/USB?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Or use that.

Doesn't that tool make you download the ISO or USB file? I already have the ISO burned to a DVD.

Than yea you should be able to use it. I used the USB on three machines. Dunno if it downloads cause my USB thing was done in 2 minutes. Thought it just used what you already downloaded (which the machine I did the first upgrade was from).

The media creation tool definitely redownloads

Everyone has the same product key. It really doesn't matter how you install. As long as you do an upgrade and don't try to format the drive

I'm having some issues and I don't know if they're Win 10 related.

By mistake, I installed the 32-bit version; now, when I try to boot the PC with the USB to do the upgrade to 64-bits, the installer never starts. Only the Windows logo appears but then the PC restarts :/

This leads me to a question.

I did the free upgrade from a Windows 8.1 key.

If I ever need a new install say a year from now, will my original Win 8.1 key remain valid for a new 10 install? In other words does microsoft keep a record their side of a key and the upgrade (the free upgrade is time limited right? eg you cant wait until say 2019 right even with a valid 8.1 key?)

Can anyone recommend the best antivirus/malware/EVERYTHING for windows 10 whether commercial or free/open source? I want something simple and automatic that I dont have to mess with to protect against all internet attacks - virus, phishing, hacks etc

I dont mind paying a reasonable fee if its the better option.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but this isn't needed for future as in they know your system unless you change your motherboard/cpu.

I upgraded than I did a USB boot of W10 and deleted everything via the format option. Than installed windows and skip CD key input. Once I got into the actual OS it was already activated.

For malware, I recommend malwarebytes.

I just upgraded my Windows 8 to 10 and now all of a sudden I cannot connect to my PC with my Raspberry Pi (XMBC) anymore. Anyone recognize this problem?
Or even better...know a solution?

Ah cool thanks I remember that malwarebytes recommendation from years back, nice to hear its still the recommendation.

Since I am a freelance software developer and this is a dev machine, is it worth paying for the premium version? (Ie since I use the computer for a living I can easily justify the cost if its recommended)

I believe they don't have lifetimes anymore. You buy it by the year.

I finally fixed my graphics card issues by reverting to AMD 14.2 omega drivers.

I want to prevent W10 auto updates, it currently downloads and installs a newer version on Intel drivers which I don't want (they're part of the reason my card has been running into errors and underperforming)

I searched and applied this stop auto update fix
http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com...e-automatic-updates-enable-updates-on-demand/

It's for W10 HOME USERS, which we all know can't prevent auto updates. \
But does it work?

I know it worked for Win 8 Home, so worth a shot.

The thing is, this still won't give you much control over what's updated. It'll download and notify you of the updates, then when you go to install updates, it will install everything including that driver.

If you upgrade within the first year your hardware should be forever tied to a valid W10 license, yes. You won't need a key (and it won't work), the activation is automatic.

I have two questions.

1. What will happen should I decide to change HDDs after upgrading to Windows 10? Can I install Windows 10 not as an upgrade and still have it activated? I read somewhere that the activation gets tied to the Microsoft account.

2. How do you set Outlook 2013 as the default calendar app? Windows 10 isn't letting me choose Outlook 2013 as the default calendar app but it did for the default mail app. The drop down does not show Outlook 2013.

Thanks I'll continue to monitor the situation.

If I use the Windows RESET option, will it actually format my drive (like desired)?
Will it delete my user data that is stored on a DIFFERENT drive? (like download, documents etc)?

You can choose between formatting or not.

For formatting, you can choose to format all drives or only the OS drive.

Has anyone been able to resolve the, power settings where no matter what your computer won't sleep or monitors won't turn off? I know I saw some other people in here with that issue but it seemed nothing worked. This is really annoying. I have to be so vigilant with setting my computer to sleep. I have been so used to it doing that on its own after 20 minutes.

For those who like using keyboard input to do things, if you want a "shortcut" to sleep your computer, you can just hit windows key, up, up, enter, up, up, up, enter. Not really a shortcut but sometimes my monitor will be off but I will see my computer isn't asleep so I want to quickly put it to sleep and that series of keys work.

If you are getting a black screen on start up. Remove all USB devices one by one and see if it resumes. For some reason my mouse freezes the computer.

I will post it here too.

My GoPro does not work on Win10 (driver issue?), plus it does not show me the photos of my digital camera's SD card - it simply says empty folder. Is there a general bug with this kind of thing?

Happy my desktop is still on win 8.1 because of the second boot phase bug during upgrade installation (which I tried for like 10 times now).

So, Windows Updade has been pushing a update for a printer that fails to install every time. Is there a way to cancel, or remove, or whatever this (single) update? (I'm on 10 pro, btw.)

So odd one... I have had no real issues with Windows 10 since upgrading. But I had not noticed that my Start menu tiles almost all stopped working, the live tiles that is. My menu looks very blank.

I am probably going to just get static tiles, but I was curious if anyone has seen this?

News, weather, photos, all live tiles and they just have text or default icon. Tried everything I can think of to fix including some google solutions.

Any ideas?

Have there been any reports of sporadically missing keystrokes under Windows 10? Both the "W" and "3" keys on my mechanical keyboard (which is only about a year old now) keep ignoring keystrokes now and then. Both in desktop and game usage.

Maybe I'll just try rolling back to Windows 7 before RMAing this keyboard.
