Longhorn: Fewer BSODs, More RSODs
Windows

from the more-colors-still-available dept.
Jan Theofel writes "Windows Loghorn will present you less BSOD. Joi Ito reports that Windows Longorn will get additional ROSD (red screen of death) for 'really bad errors.' So you will get less BSOD but some new RSOD. You can find a ROSD screenshot in a virtual machine in his weblog entry."

Why do error codes and other such information have to be delivered against such abraisive backgrounds? White on blue isn't so bad - don't get me wrong, I'm glad we weren't given Yellow... but c'mon.

Hopefully the error screens will be fully customizable and use that fandangled new graphics system.

red... to reflect the utter displair, the loss of a will to live when windows crashes and you realise you didn't save that essay that your future depends on and its due in an hour.

A more important question is why don't the kernel programmers know how to spell execution.
