Noice. Why not? Seems like a no-brainer :)
I'm one of those who like to keep the "what's new" feed personal.

I use Twitter mainly as a live news feed, so I follow all kinds of blogs and industry related people and that's not what I want to see in my people hub. I already saw how annoying it gets, when I first got my Windows Phone and linked my Facebook account. Because I "liked" many of the sites on Facebook, my feed was getting spammed by all sort of crap. Since then I removed the news sites on FB and the feed was finally usable. Linking my Twitter account would get me back to that stage. Thanks, but no thanks.

This is why I love the Mango group feature so much. Create a group of ONLY the people you want to see updates from (closest friends, family, etc.) then pin that to the start menu. Then you only have to go to the main People Hub news feed when you want some lulz. I'm going to give the Twitter integration a try. Twitter is WAY too slow to load up tweets right now, I'd rather use the People Hub. Same thing with FB, the app is just way too slow so I don't bother 99% of the time. Although with fast app switching, that may not be a huge issue once third party apps are updated.

Any estimates on when Verizon will have the new window 7 phones with mango? I really need a smart phone so I can do some wordpress posting on it for work and I want a windows 7 phone, stuck with verizon. Although I don't want to buy a phone that is gonna be outdated in 2 months. It's been suggested to buy a used Trophy which could work.

Do you guys think there's a chance that Google+ will get the same treatement as Twitter and Facebook? I hope that - if Microsoft does something with it - we won't have to wait until the update after Mango hits.

No, I seriously doubt it. If it was, Google Chat would have gotten the same treatment as Live Messenger and Facebook Chat. Microsoft also has little reason to push people towards Google+ while its still in its infancy. If it becomes a dominant force they may be forced to support it eventually, but they sure on earth don't want to help it get there.

Also, there is no chance of it being in Mango. Google+ doesn't even have APIs yet. It is still very beta.

Microsoft is Facebook's BFF, Google+ is a direct competitor to Facebook (and Twitter). As long as they don't have to support it, because it G+ suddenly got big over night, they won't. And the way Google keeps ignoring Windows Phone, I doubt we'll see an official app soon. Heck, we don't even have an official Google Maps app.

Just got it, I'll update as soon as I get home (no Zune on work PC).
Are you using Mango?

I got my focus in today, at first I thought I had a whacked out touch layer, thing was jittering all around every time I touched it. Eventually I figured out it doesn't respond well to touches that aren't on the very tip of your finger. If you touch more towards the fat part it reads it as two fingers touching and goes crazy. This is really fucking me up, and I'm afraid it might be a deal-breaker for this phone. Is there anything I can do other than just try to get used to it?

I have Focus and I'm not really sure what you are talking about. I haven't had any issues like this I don't think. Where is it doing this jittering, in an app? On the start screen?

I mostly notice it on the home screen and the browser, where it will randomly zoom in when I'm scrolling if I put too much skin on it. If other's aren't having this issue I'm thinking mine's a dud.

I'm in Canada and I recently switched my Browser & Seach language to English (United States) in the settings menu. So much better!! Any other Canadian users try this? Is there any reason for me not to have it at this setting?

Edit: Only downside is that distances are in miles..oh well.

Just recieved the Samsung Omnia 7 - does anyone else think the screen is far too bright on 'low'? I really wish there was a slider rather than preset settings.

Yes it is, also there's no real diversity in volume. It's very hard to use the device at night because of that.

Thanks. Hopefully Samsung will fix it down the line (although I doubt it).

Although it's probably already been asked, I've got another screen-related question: is the 16-bit banding issue fixed in Mango? I've found a beautiful wallpaper but it's ruined by banding in a large blue-black gradient. If not, is there any way to convert it to 16-bit colours manually and dither it? Strangely enough, though, the colours look perfectly fine in the photo viewer.

It's fixed in Mango, yes.

Fantastic :) I'm really considering installing the Mango Beta but I'm not entirely sure about the potential downsides. Any quirks I should know about?

I have to admit, the thing I love about Windows Phone 7 is how clean and straightforward everything is. The iOS lockscreen seems really cluttered now (although I wasn't a fan of it in the first place):

Gross.

For me the browser crashes, I can't get fb chat to work... It's glorious though.

I will say something, I'm guessing it's because the apps are not optimized for multitasking but multitasking is not up to snuff for 3rd party apps yet. You click the app you want > half a second of black screen > in some cases reloads app...

If the apps aren't complied with the new SDK and Mango as target, they're not multitasking enabled. Developers can submit Mango apps at the end of next month.

Was this posted earlier? Gabe's experience so far with WP7

I’m not going to lie to you guys, I sometimes use my minor Internet celebrity to get cool shit. Recently I was able to acquire tickets for my wife and I to the sold out Whedonesque Burlesque show here in Seattle this weekend. I was also able to get the Windows Phone guys over at Microsoft to send me a Samsung Focus. I’ve been getting bored with my iPhone and after playing with WP7 at an AT&T store I was interested in making a switch. So I’ve had the Focus for a little over a week now and I just wanted to share my thoughts.

So I just discovered Windows Phone 7 doesn't support multiple calandars unless you use separate email accounts. What the heck. I'm guessing this is another feature Mango is adding?

I'm not surprised. Half the games don't even support resuming from lock yet :/

I just wish they'd compared it to a stock Android device, and disabled Flash in the Android browser to make it a fairer test.

I agree about disabling flash in the browser to make that test more even. In terms of stock android, since the vast majority of phones sold are skinned, I think it's fair to go up against a skin.

I just have an active AppHub account and I registered my HTC 7 Mozart as Developer device. Will I get the Mango update now, or do I have to some other thing before I'll get the e-mail?

His reasons align with mine. The UI in WP7 is just way more preferable to me and it's entirely more aesthetically appealing to me. My problem with the current version of iOS is that it looks too clinical and boring. It also reminds me of my co-workers' desktops who have a million icons and it drives me nuts.

I'm really looking forward to the Mango update. Unlike many of you, I haven't braved the beta update and am just going to wait it out for the official one. I haven't read through all your Mango experiences completely, but does the beta update wipe whatever you have currently on your phone? I have a bunch of pictures associated with contact profiles that took some effort to import and would hate to lose those.

It's not a qurik per-say but everything you do in the beta won't carry over to the final build.

I had to submit a dummy app to the marketplace (an app that crashes), and then proceeded to contact geotrust to recieve the email. This was because I read that you wouldn't recieve an email unless you submitted an app. I contacted them after doing so just to speed up the process.
