Same here. Ill bet Microsoft will put together another conference later this year specifically for the Mango release.brotkasten said:I'd be really surprised if this has anything to do with Windows Phone.

The Mazaa is based on the Trophy and just a developer phone, not a production device. Kinda like the Asus E600.Totakeke said:That prototype/fake Nokia is still far more appealing than the horribly uninspired designs HTC keep churning out.

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/41489/windows-phone-7-mango-1-september?Multiple trusted sources have confirmed to us that the start of next month will see the new OS, available to developers over the summer, launching on new handsets, as well as becoming available to current WP7 customers.
Previously, Microsoft has opted simply to say "Fall" when asked about its date of availability.
The launch date, we now understand, has been chosen due to its importance in tieing in with IFA, Europe's largest consumer electronics show in Berlin, and means that companies like Samsung, Acer, ZTE and LG will be able to show off new devices with Mango installed.

C# to Java is indeed an easy switch. While I never ported a WP7 app to android, I did start out on an android app during my internship, coming from a .NET background and with one completed WP7 app in the baggage. Personally I picked up a book (that I wasn't very happy with, to be honest) and read the first few chapters, but eventually I just googled things as needed. I also had the luxury of asking experienced developers whenever I came across something I didn't understand, wanted some best-practice hints and especially how to get Eclipse to do what I wanted.thundr51 said:just curious if anyone here has done any android apps? I have a WP7 app that I've been working on for some time, but after playing around the the asus transformer, I sort of want to port it over to that. I don't really know any Java but i've been doing C# and the syntax is close so not worried about that. Curious if anyone can point to somewhere where a wp7 dev can get some type of footing in the adroid world.
yes, I know about mono, but the files (packages, beans, etc) are kinda throwing me and i'm completely lost when it comes to the layout files.

Abstract
Mobile communications devices having moveable housings are described. In an implementation, a mobile communications device includes a first housing that includes a display device; and a second housing that includes a keyboard. At least one of the first or second housings are moveable between a first configuration in which the first housing substantially covers the second housing so the keyboard is covered and the display device is viewable and a second configuration in which the keyboard is exposed and positioned such that an outer plane of the keyboard is positioned in a substantially similar plane to that of an outer surface of the display device.

Is this type of slider better than the angled one on the HTC Arrive?brotkasten said:To be fair, I read the abstract again and it's not about generic sliders. They're talking about sliders, where the keyboard is in the same or similar plane as the display, when you open it. Kinda like the HTC G2/Desire Z.

I thought Dell dropped the ball on the VP. It took them half a year to fix the WiFi issues. Why would any operator pick this one up?Complex Shadow said:fuck i hope canada gets the new dell WP7 phone. rogers really dropped the ball on venue pro.
Do you plan to get a 2nd gen device?Firestorm said:Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was just a lack of confidence in the product. Rogers had it on all their internal marketing and still didn't release it =/
Can't you use the phones in a store and test it?talkinghead said:Rejoice Windows Phone 7 people, i am really close to purchasing an Optimus 7.
However, i read the review on gsmarena, and the measurements on the quality of the headphone output were kinda worrying. It seems stereo-crosstalk is through the roof, which sounds really worrying. (The effect of this would be that left and right channel get mixed up and the stereo effect is lost or very weak)
Is there anyone here with an optimus 7 who could confirm this? (Just play a song that uses lots of left/right panning with headphones connected, and tell me if the effect sounds good)
I've been reading a ton of reviews lately as after my debacle with my current android phone i wanna purchase the right phone now, and it would suck if the phones headphone out had such a flaw, as i'd like to use the phone as an mp3 player quite often.
Never. Microsoft just cancelled the Windows Phone project. It was just a hobby for them. Too bad for Nokia, though.Korey said:So, when is the second gen of Windows Phone being officially announced?
