It's the LG Optimus 7. I was so close to purchasing it but the screen and camera in the Omnia 7 won me over.besiktas1 said:What phone is that? It looks gorgeous.
You missed my point. It requires a reliable signal and drains battery.VanMardigan said:This isn't true at all. Talk and surf is extremely useful and there are plenty of scenarios you'd want to use it. Also, if you get any sort of Edge/3G signal, you can surf and talk, it isn't something that can only be done in a few areas.
brotkasten said:Yeah, surf n' talk works just fine with GSM. It's CDMA that is such a shitty technogly. It still baffles me how it could've become so huge in the US. It feels like tech from the 80s. It's also one of the worst anti consumer technologies I can think of*. "What? You wanna legally use the phone you bought on another carrier? I don't think so!" It's crazy how different the mobile network landscape is between the US and Europe.
* Okay, that might be a bit too much

It does look gorgeous on the SAMOLED screen. <3gcubed said:mm, that would be ideal, i would assume the amoled screen makes the wp7 live tiles look awesome

Can anyone help/advise with the updated question in the above post. Many thanks for all the help, it's greatly appreciated.

Don't forget that your phone is getting a year old. It's only natural that your battery life is decreasing over time and Mango doesn't help, yeah. I'm still getting though the day with chat enabled.VanMardigan said:Mango battery life is definitely worse than NoDo battery life. I know that shouldn't be too surprising, but I can pinpoint the reasons why:
-Chat running in the background. This KILLED my battery life on Android, and I suspect its a big contributor to my diminished battery life on Mango. I wish I could set it up to turn off at night, and back on in the morning.
-Apps can pull more data in the background. Live tiles in NoDo are tame, plus they don't always work. In Mango, these things flip, you can have multiple ones per app, and they all work much better, meaning background data that slowly seeps battery life.
Also, I've mentioned this before, but 5 cards in the multitasker just isn't enough.
i found the beta worse than the RTM. RTM is about Mango level i find, plus battery saver mode helps a lot. i'm continually signed into chat and get the same kind of battery life. ish. i thinkVanMardigan said:Mango battery life is definitely worse than NoDo battery life. i don't think the live tiles really do anything when the phone is asleep, so unless you're staring at your start screen alot, the flipping tiles shouldn't really have a noticeable drain over the none flipping ones.
well, that'd be more of a question of background tasks draining your battery life rather than live tiles wouldn't it? unless i'm misunderstanding this. i don't use wonder reader, but i do notice that my weather tile seems to update moments after i unlock the phone.brotkasten said:WonderReader is using the background task API to pull data for the live tile.

It's one of my top sites, and doesn't play nice with the mobile version on WP7.

it has HTML 5, with hardware acceleration... so the new m.youtube.com works great in it. zooming and other things work a lot nicer too.SeanR1221 said:Is IE any better in Mango?

Oh well, it still looks like shit, sorry. The desktop version looks and performs wonderful, though. You should ask the admin about that. Maybe he has to put the IE9Mobile on the "doesn't render like crap" list, like YouTube did. IE9 Mobile isn't the ultra super best mobile browser on the market, but it's quite capable, fast, supports some HTML5 standards and usually doesn't render like shit.SeanR1221 said:When you actually go into posts, the names are all white, so you can't see who's posting, and the edit and quote buttons blend in.
SeanR1221 said:So it's still broken in the new IE? :\
Wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, I should probably be on there less anyway...
EDIT - and yeah, I would just use the regular version if I needed to check out a deal or something.
What about tapping phone numbers and instantly calling? It's something I really like in mobile safari.

thanks for posting this trick by the way. it's neat.D4Danger said:edit: do you have a link to a phone number example? I know WP7 supports the tel: attribute so it should work if that's what they're using

You can see it for yourself if you have IE9 on your PC.
open IE9
press F12 to get the developer tools
press "tools" > "change user agent string" > "Custom"
in the box "Friendly name" you can just put anything ('WP7 Mango' or something)
in the box "User Agent String" put this
choose "set" and then go load the site.
It should load the mobile version which is exactly the same as the one you'd see on your phone.
Works for me. But I stopped using it - it's just too cluttered.Meus Renaissance said:Can anyone check if Fuse is connecting to Google Reader

Brettison said:Biggest problem IE9 mobile has it's not officially released yet so many sites that might actually work okay now still don't because they are flagged correctly yet. It's basically was Brotkasten said about Youtube finally getting flagged and boom html 5 of youtube on our browser worked. We just need more sites to take the browser into account. Not that it's a magical fix for things tho.
D4Danger said:browser sniffing is a terrible practice. It's especially bad on mobile sites since the software moves so fast.
I understand why so many people do it because mobile browsing was so complex just a few years ago but now there's really no excuse.
