I use a iphone 4 as a daily but been using a Samsung Focus as a secondary, I'll tell you the mango update sped animation and made it snappier.
 
GNNNNNNN if the Lumina 800 comes to Verizon, with LTE to boot, I will come rice. I've been having a brain aneurism trying to figure out if I should keep waiting and waiting and waiting or just say HURNGGG and buy an Android phone already. Please mobile gods, heed my call.

It will not support T-Mobile 3G bands. Get the Dell Venue Pro, HD7 or HD2 (after flash) if you want a WP7 phone for T-mobile. The HTC Radar also comes out next week, but that'll be more expensive unlocked.
 
I don't understand what their plan for the Lumia 800 in the US is. by the time it gets here won't it be like a half year to a year old phone? Who'd want it?

well they said they would bring a "portfolio" of phones to the US, which to me means something in addition to the two phones they announced.

i am sure theyl release the 900 and the 800 will drop in price.

Isn't T-Mobile 850, 1900, 1700, 2100? That's what Wiki isn't showing anyway... Is this listing incorrect? I hope not. :( It's the cheapest one out of the 2 WP's you listed (excluding HD7).

considering nokia is going to spend a lot of microsoft's money to market their phones i'd say the 800 will be very lucrative for any carrier. early rumors were that it was att bound. perhaps verizon outbid them and it's going to them with LTE inside? nothings been announced yet but nokia showed off their retail stands and the tile theme really draw you into the UI.
 
The Lumia 800 probably won't even come to the states. The US Nokia site shows the Lumia 710 (which recently passed thru the FCC with T-Mobile bands), it doesn't even acknowledge that the 800 exists.

tmobile's 3G band is 1700.

The 800 is made in Finland and maybe that's why they don't have enough volume to support US and they didn't want to go in half-heartedly? Anyway the US market has never been Nokia's unlike a lot of other countries.
 
Anyone tired of seeing drivers fiddling with smartphones while waiting in traffic or people walking around with them without looking up to see what object is about to hit their faces?

They aren't screwing up. The rumors about the Sea Ray and Sabre were correct, so most likely the rumors about the Ace were correct. The Ace would be the perfect device to launch in the US with.

Double tap the black space- slide out keyboard and type in qwertyuiop
Go to "Rd Test" - type in *#6336#
Go to Touch Pad and gimme all the info for all of em. (basically i need the default)

Bing sucks outside North America.

I am using Gmaps, it is really nice. Not sure if Nokia Maps would make an impact, maybe on Europe. Nokia Drive, in the other hand, looks great, but it is exclusive.

I really like Drive though, if only the Lumia 800 was more enticing, I'd get one just to eliminate the gimped Navteq implementation on Bing Maps.

I'm in the UK, so I'll be able to grab the Lumia 800 next month. Thanks for the help and app suggestions, by the way.

Leaning towards a Lumia 800 since I want something different from my iPhone 3G, and I don't think the 4S is big enough of a departure. And the few iPhone games I do have work on my iPad, so I won't be missing any of the software I've purchased.

Some of your advice has certainly warmed me to WP7 a bit more, but I'm a tad upset that I can't change my default search engine from Bing. Though I'm sure that's something I'll get used to.

They crave human interaction and a chance for Verizon's saleperson to convince them that they are making a wrong choice and they should pick one of the android phones instead. Speaking of that, my in-law that end up with Androids phone is asking me why her Android phone constantly running out of battery in less than a day. I told her that's part of the fun of having Android phone, manage the power consumption.

In another news about wrong choice, WP Facebook ask people to send in picture of their phone theme for Halloween only they forgot that you can't take screen capture with Windows Phone Mango. I should snap picture of my pumpkin theme phone with my old iPhone and send it to them.

After using it I don't think you will.... the bing search on wp7 is far more than just search. The local scout, bing audio and video are all best in class on any platform. I use all 3 features pretty regularly and never thought I would.
 
I wish AT&T would announce the Titan/Rader already. I can't take much more of this 3gs. It's gotten really crash prone and choppy ever since iOS5.

I think you will be happy with it if you don't mind some of its limitation (such as less app than Apple). Once you get used to the UI, I think you will find it's a lot more pleasing than iOS and very smooth and intuitive to use.

I had iPhone for many years (since it came out) and switch to WP7 last year and I haven't had any regret. I also have an iPad so you won't be missing some of the apps (mostly games for me, which I find ironic consider WP7 has Xbox integration).

Give Bing a try, so far I have been able to find whatever I need (but I am in the US, I don't know how Bing search is for UK). Bing Vision is like magic and I used it all the time especially when out shopping.

Radar is going to T-mo, and Titan I think will be out the same time as Focus S and Flash (I think) which is on the 6th of November.
 
Joining the team! Getting the Arrive tomorrow (got it off Craigslist so hope all goes well with that...) Can't wait to finally play around with it! In the past year I've gone from LG slide phone (can't remember what it was called) to a BlackBerry to now the htc hero. Never really ecstatic about any of them so i really hope I will love WP7. I only wish Sprint would get more options...

I had never used Bing before getting a WP7 phone, except maybe to try it out, and I still don't use it on the PC, but trust me, Bing on WP7 is fantastic.

I know. The GPS function is superb but no 900 series ruins it for me. I just can't go back to the size screen of an iPhone
