- Can you download files from IE?
- Can you search texts or emails?
Setup is easy. Just put in the battery and SIM, and then turn it on. It'll ask you for your live info and agree to terms. Simple if you ask me!OuterWorldVoice said:My focus is arriving today! And anyone been through setup outside of a store?
Actually that reminds me ... has anyone done a re-up for service using Amazon Wireless?OuterWorldVoice said:And anyone been through setup outside of a store?
If you hand Zune the RSS feed, it'll handle updates automatically. It'll treat it like any other podcast.thirty said:no way dude, i want zune to hand me the goods on a plate the way itunes does. this isn't android.

I'm in the same boat. When I thought I was going to sell my 3G for $150 - $200, made upgrading to the Focus a much easier decision. Still very glad I did it!Mr. Snrub said:You can probably fetch around $200 on Craigslist depending on the model. I was gonna do that, but my girlfriend wanted it :-\

Raistlin said:Back from my trip, I decided to hit up the local AT&T and actually take a look at the phone I've ordered sight-unseen. Figured while I'm there I'll get some info on how Amazon orders work.
So ...
First off, LOVE the Focus overall. I generally prefer a rectangular aesthetic, and feel it would especially match this OS better, but it's still a sharp looking phone. Insanely thin and light, yet doesn't feel particularly cheap. Screen is insane (obviously).
Now for the good stuff. I inquire about how grandfathered plans work when ordering via Amazon. They note that when they make an order in the store, if someone is eligible for an older plan it simply shows up on the screen. If you aren't eligible, it doesn't show up and there is simply no way to BS one in there. I tell them that 'I went through the motions at Amazon', and there wasn't an option for my plan. They are under the impression that Amazon doesn't have access to that info, and if you go with a standard plan no one will be able to override it from their end afterwards.
This all makes sense to me, though I'm certainly a bit bummed since I have a nice plan right now. I'm not sure it's worth $150 however ... maybe. Anyway, a manager comes over and we bring him up to speed with the discussion. He fills in a few details, but everything seems in alignment. Out of curiosity he inquires why I want to go with Amazon? I mention the $50 deal. He asks if I can wait a day to see whether he can give that price to me 0_0
I'm thinking wut! So long story short, they're gonna call me tomorrow before noon with the price they can offer me. All I can say is I'm glad the phone is delayed from Amazon ... I may be cancelling!!!
My plan is actually a grandfathered PDA data plan :lol Old as hell. However, it's $39 for unlimited data and 1500 messages. Figure it's probably worth it. $5 cheaper than what the same plan would be for iPhone users grandfathered into unlimited.
I'm as giddy as a school girl.Mr. Snrub said:Oh shit dawg! :lol Let us know how it goes!
almost 2500 apps. I wonder if it can get up to 5000 by the end of the year.Mr. Snrub said:Just posted this in the apps thread, but Thurrott seems to be high on this site for app browsing...says its better than the Marketplace and the Bing visual search: http://www.marketplacebrowser.com/

This is my problem with iOS as well. Theres no file system, but you can still save pictures into Photos. There needs to be a Documents app/hub to save files from the browser. (or WP7 needs to save them to Office)- Don't think so, there's no direct access to the file system so how would you get to them? I'd expect you can with office documents since it works in email, but I haven't tried
I havent heard any of that.Raistlin said:Some threads with people that have it.
General consensus seems to be that the bulk of keyboard isn't worth it ... camera is terrible ... screen not as impressive as expected ... buggy.
I'm glad to read I made the right choice, though it's still disappointing to hear the Dell is such a shit box.
Umm ... okay? The Abominable Snowman said:I havent heard any of that.
Yup--- same at the AT&T store I went to today. I asked the guy how the reception for the phone has been and he said they had sold quite a bit in just being out in the market for a week... week and half now.Raistlin said:A funny anecdote ...
While I was chatting with the chick at the AT&T store she inquired upon what phone I currently had. I told her, giving her an inquisitive look. She mentioned how she's witnessed several iPhone users test out WP7 ... and a majority of them were blown away. She agreed too - she wants to replace her iPhone.

I think word-of-mouth and in-store demos are going to set this thing on fire.
:lol Am I the the only person here coming from webOS to WP7 (although I did have an iPhone4 earlier this summer)? I finally gave in and ordered the Samsung Focus on ebay. Over $500 :/ but I'll get my phone before all you $50 Amazon deal snatchersRaistlin said:I'll say one thing, I'm really glad MS waited until now to release. Otherwise they wouldn't have Snapdragon as the minimum spec, and therefore wouldn't have a GPU accelerated UI ... at least not at this level. Pure Sex
Edit, damn ... iPhone users dropping like flies
When Gary Whitta not only acknowledges it as being good, but actually admits to coveting it a bit ... you know MS is onto something :lol

So I saw this picture and thought that orange looked pretty good. So I went and change to it on my phone (Mozart). However, it looks considerably less orange and more crappy on mine. Which sucks.antiquegamer said:

If you can wait ... Samsung is planning on releasing over 50 WP7 phones in 2011Agentnibs said:Ah blast the Focus's beautiful screen! It being exclusive to AT&T is whats keeping me from diving into windows 7. I really want to break free from AT&T and switch to T-mobile for the cheaper rate plans and faster network, but they only have the HD7! which still seems like a really nice phone but the lack of a SAMOLED is really killing it for me.
This OS really benefits from having a beautiful display so I want the best of the best..ugh
Raistlin said:If you can wait ... Samsung is planning on releasing over 50 WP7 phones in 2011
Obviously that includes multiple regions, but even so I can't imagine a scenario where a provider doesn't get at least one ... and I would assume basically everything they make will be SAMOLED.
the screen really is hot sex
