I'm looking for a larger battery (1500mAh) for my HD7 but I want to buy it from a reputable dealer.

Does anyone have any recommendations?
I bought a pair of batts and a tiny travel charger from eBay and they've worked great. Just swap out the batt when depleted. The only reputable retailer I know of that sells larger capacity batts without the need for a new door would be Seido or Seidio. I can't remember right now. They aren't cheap though, probably $30 shipped compared to $15 shipped for 2 batts and a charger from eBay.

Edit: Alright, so for the most part, the hard reset process is painless, but really, MS needs to put in more work into the restore function. I should not have to manually seek out and reinstall apps, re-link the contacts in the People hub, etc. It would've been nice if my texts had been restored as well.

That's probably my biggest disappointment with WP7. The MyPhone functionality on Windows Mobile is so much better and MyPhone on WP7 isn't even compatible with the WM version. I still can't access my old texts/conversations from my Diamond.

I've been having this problem lately, and it's not a deal breaker but slightly annoying.

I have a Focus (no SD card), and when I'm listening to music, sometimes the last few seconds of the song start skipping before it goes onto the next song. It only happens at the very ends of the song though, when it's probably loading the next one.

Anyone else have this issue?
Focus here, same thing happens. Think its a known bug.

This sound hack isn't working for me, what am I doing wrong? I get as far as the diagnostic menu, but when I type *#0002*28346# nothing happens it just stays there. I can't see an enter button or something....

http://www.wpcentral.com/boost-sound-samsung-focus-take-2
Boost Headphone Volume
Plug in headphones
Enter the dialer
##634# --> Call
*#0002*28346#
Click Get under the Device Gain (max/min)
in 'device gain' leave number 5, set 1100 (max) and -1100 (low)
Click Set
MAKE SURE AUDIENCE.CFG IS ON
Click Start
Click the home button
Restart your phone. To verify the setting took click the get button and it should show your values

Any apps you want that still aren't in the marketplace?

'YouTube by Lazyworm' (free)
(HTC's YT app with HQ support, if you have a HTC WP7)
(Kindle is coming, they showed it at PDC10)
Photobucket has an official app since launch (free)
Kickbox is probably the best you can do on WP7 right now (OS limitations) ($3.99)
GoReader ($0.99, free trial)

I can't help you with the rest. If you tried one of the apps I mentioned, could you say why you didn't like them?

I'm not paying for dropbox access, especially half assed. Coming from Android, the lazyworm app is a complete fucking joke. I've already posted at length on both wp7 threads about my issues with the current reader applications. I just picked up the photobucket application, thanks for that.

So, the way I use Google Reader is:

I go into "All Unread", set it by oldest posts first, and every reader I've ever used loads 25, 50 posts. I scroll down, skim/read through those 50 posts, then hit "mark all as read", and THOSE POSTS ONLY get deleted, it loads up another 50 posts, then rinse/repeat. That's how the Google webapp works (which doesn't work on WP7), and that's how NewsRob works on Android.

Now, Wonder Reader will just continually keep loading posts in the "all unread" area as you scroll down, so I was not entirely shocked when it marked ALL of my unread messages into read. That sucked, but I got GReadie and it works like I'm used to, loading up I think it's 20 posts or so ONLY. So I hit "Mark as Read" expecting ONLY THOSE posts that are queued up to be marked read, but it just marked all of my unread as read.

Why not use the 'Mark Read while Scrolling' option?

A good navigation app, that works offline. I´m traveling abroad a lot, and don´t want the roaming costs.
So I´d love to see IGO come to WP7.

What would be a 'real' WLM?
One that has near parity to its desktop counterpart, hell the Zune wlm has more functionality than the crap that passes as official. I understand the whole sockets issue right now, and won't beat that dead horse, but MS seriously fucked up in the IM dept. Good thing it's early.

I would love to see a windows live messenger integrated into the messaging app on the phone (along side the txt messages) but at very least an app that can run in the background.

How many gaffers have the LG Optimus 7Q, the one with the landscape hardware keyboard?
I do. Battery life is nice. The build quality is great. Very grippable. The screen is bright and legible, but it's the smallest at 3.5". Still, that's as big as an iPhone. In landscape mode, the phone is easy to hold and type on. I like it so far.

Got an LG Optimus on new years eve. It's a rad phone.

Gaming related but everyone who owns a WP7 (or DSi/iPhone) should buy Glow Artisan. It's a fantastic puzzle game.

Speaking of games, what's the best solitaire game? I am really just looking for something simple like the version on WM6.5. I was kind of surprised MS didn't have own of their own, it's been a staple of Windows for some time :lol

My cousin is considering a WP7 phone and wants a hardware keyboard. I didn't even think about the LG 7Q before I bought the Focus because few WP7 apps support landscape. I had no idea the LG 7Q's keyboard had arrow keys--I prefer software keyboards but that's something a touchscreen can't replicate yet. It might be worth getting the LG over the Venue Pro (whenever that's available) just for that. What do you think?

Here are 10 apps off the top of my head that I want

ESPN Apps
Official Dropbox
NPR News
NPR Music
Engadget
Comcast
Some sort of all in one messenger (msn/gtalk,yahoo, aol etc...)
VLC (or some equivalent)
Ventrilo (I know I know mumbler fans but my friends still have a payed for vent server)
Blizzard Authenticator

Since I'm such a smart ass, I didn't get the whining about the IM situation.

Why don't they just go to the mobile meebo page and use that? It's even multi tasking capable (runs in IE after all)

Then I tried that page on my WP7, laughed and now I'm sitting here and typing this, wishing for a good browser and a multi tasking capable IM client. I hope they won't wait until MIX11 for that stuff.

What happens when you try to use Meebo's mobile page?

Honestly if we have a fully capable browser I wouldn't need AS much in the form of mobile apps.

I mean I'd like an Engadget app, but wouldn't NEED one if I could just watch videos on their site in the browser.

Yeah, not all apps support landscape, but the important ones do. E-mail, messaging, web browser and some of the third-party apps I've tried do support it.

There's some strange behavior, though. For example, you can search the marketplace in landscape but then the results list comes up in portrait. It's not a dealbreaker for me, because since I'm done searching I just close the keyboard and reorient. And, as I said, anything that requires extensive typing supports that format.

Having arrow keys is nice, moving a cursor with the touchscreen is usually an experiment. My mom has the Focus, and I've noticed that the on-screen keyboard, especially in landscape, is quite usuable. But I like the convenience of the keyboard and not having to dirty up the screen so much.

I used to want the Venue Pro, but watching WP7 news on twitter I see complaints about that phone more often. I would read some reviews, I think some of them had said the keyboard felt a bit cramped. Naturally a landscape orientation gives you more room. So, LG's not a bad choice. You'd really be trading the bigger screen (4 vs. 3.5) for a bigger keyboard.

I want a hardware keyboard fro myself now. Which WP7 Twitter accounts are you following?

There are already leaks on the second generation of WP7 phones? That site mentions the HTC 7 Pro which also has a landscape hardware keyboard as well. A 3 month cycle sounds about right although there was no mention that those phones are coming to the States.

Thinking about getting an HTC HD7 from T-Mobile. What's the general consensus on this phone? It's between this or the myTouch 3G.

Also can anyone explain how these T-Mobile plans work? I'm on a family plan right now with 4 other people and it's limited minutes with unlimited texts. You can add unlimited data to specific lines right? And how much more might that be a month? I've never had to upgrade a phone on a plan before.

I have the HD7 and am really pleased with it. There's not too much to say about it, though - it does everything and the huge display is really nice. The typing is just great (coming from an iPhone)... And HTC has a couple of great Apps that I don't think you can get if you don't buy one of their phones (YouTube, for example).

Do you guys use the XBL features? I'd love to compare Achievements, but I currently don't have anyone on my friend list who has an WP7. My GT is snap0212 ... feel free to add me. :-)

I like it, with a few caveats, some specific to the phone, some to WP7. No dealbreakers but the camera isn't all that great and captures photos with a slightly pinkish hue, the battery isn't as large as those in other phones of similar size, the power button might be difficult to press since it's deeply embedded, it doesn't act like a mass storage device where you can just plug in a usb cord and drag/drop files like Android thus having to rely on the Zune client app to sync with the phone ala the iTunes model.

I'm on T-Mobile's no-contract data-only plan called the Even More Plus plan that's only offered in-store. At $39.99/month, it's $10 cheaper than the 2-year contract deal but you pay for the full price of the phone.

I'm going to stick with WP7. If you're worried about jumping into uncharted waters, I think MS is going to be very adamant about setting right what they bungled up in ver 6.5.

So I posted a bit ago I got a new router at my place, and I actually have wireless signal everywhere now.

ZOMG wireless sync is the badass! :lol

Whats the best way to move contacts from an iPhone 4 to a Windows 7 device? I have about 588 contacts, more than will fit on the sim card.

Any suggestions?

I'll add you. I need people with crackdown on WP7 for one of the achievements :lol

We need to create a new thread and move everyone to it this week. Would be nice to have it up around CES for all of the WP7 news.

PS: Read the thread we just went over the iphone contacts thing.

Transfer them to Windows Live.

I would be surprised if they don't release the update at their ces keynote.... I am bringing my computer just in case they put out the update (and its the type that requires a pc+zune software)

For anyone interested, I've installed the latest Firmware and it's going fine so far. Did reset the phone though, so I've had to re-input all my accounts etc.
Okay, seriously recommend taking a look at the latest firmware for Omnia 7 users. My marketplace browsing experience is much better.
