PG2G said:How about, instead of focusing on what iOS and Android do that WP7 doesn't, you guys start focusing on what WP7 does and iOS and Android don't.
Enjoy those features and wait for the rest to come. The operating system has been out for like two months (some of which was during the holiday season), you guys really need to get your expectations in line with reality. Software doesn't come out of thin air and you can't exactly just through a bunch of resources at it and expect it to be done quicker -_-

Everyone appreciates the features WP7s already have and no one denies that they're sometimes better than what the competition is offering. Sure, it's great, but it's just not as complete of a package as the iPhone is (I don't know about Android) and that's what Micosoft is competing with. It may be hard to compete with them, but that what Microsoft has to do and I just don't see that happening when a feature like Copy&Paste takes months to be patched in or when they don't allow developers to use features that are essential for various Apps. They should do everything to get those devs to develop for WP7 and should offer more than Apple does - not less.jagowar said:That kind of stuff is where I think many people are not appreciating wp7 for what it is (and only talking about what it doesn't have compared to others while ignoring its features and asking why they don't have them)
ilomilo link, please? :/ Can't find it through the software.MasterLeePhD said:Kindle app and ilomilo are now on the marketplace.
Its a firmware update that I had to hack a bit. Can't post details until later but check out old posts on wmpoweruser.com.bigswords said:Sorry I have a omnia 7 how do you update it? Via Zune software?

According to Microsoft that's how it is. They can choose to deliver a small update over the air, unlike the Apple who can only offer their users file to download that's over 400MB+ and requires connecting the device to iTunes through USB. The quick over the air downloads was one of the advantages Microsoft was touting before the phones came out. I don't know why Miscrosoft has decided to only release updates in bunches now.antiquegamer said:Because the search is shitty and the marketplace is buggy mess that should be fix (and I don't see how this need a firmware update). All the main app on the phone such as Zune, People etc should be a separate module and not part of OS that can be update individually but it doesn't seems that how it is.
Anyway, seeing we are not getting first update until Feb because MS let carrier control the firmware update that's over 3 months from launch until we get bug fixes (hopefully). Browsing marketplace is terrible, and search for app give you bunch of musics ... it's silly that you need an app to search for app on the phone that have a dedicate search button. :?

Then after a soft reset all my data was gone and I couldn't access the about page to hard reset. Even the grip of death manual hard reset did nothing.
I'm hoping a sync at home will clear things up, also everytime I reset a different set of info is available. I can access my podcasts so I'm going to ignore the fact that my phone isn't working and listen to podcasts (except my battery is draining super fast).
I might stop by an ATT store tonight and grab a micro SD card since I have nothing to loose now. I'll let you all know if a 32gb Micro Center card works...

VanMardigan said:Wasn't the MS Windows Phone conference today? With the wave of awesome Android phones being announced every 2 seconds, I really want to hear from MS in terms of what they have planned for the near and long term.
There is a microsoft conference today at 1pm PST as well. I'm not sure what it's about though. Arstechnica will have a liveblog of the eventbrotkasten said:They're doing the keynote. CES starts tomorrow.

The tools are out and you can get them. Jailbreak your phone if you want.Treo360 said:I wonder what would have happened if the Chevron team didn't sell out, not that I blame them, I'm sure the money bag was big and heavy.

Microsoft can't be that stupid.brotkasten said:Now that Microsoft announced the next Windows for ARM, I doubt we'll see WP7 for tablets. Ever.
I think we will, but in a different incarnation. Windows 8 will have an alternate UI based off of Metro for touch devices. Book it.brotkasten said:Now that Microsoft announced the next Windows for ARM, I doubt we'll see WP7 for tablets. Ever.
But it's not based on WP7 or WP8. Either way, it's too late.giga said:I think we will, but in a different incarnation. Windows 8 will have an alternate UI based off of Metro for touch devices. Book it.
So negative dawg. :lol I think theyll be fine if they can ship something by CES 2012.brotkasten said:But it's not based on WP7 or WP8. Either way, it's too late.

What's wrong with Silverlight? At least I can watch the stream on full screen and use my other monitors at the same time. Rewinding anytime you want is also great. Silverlight is awesome.Charred Greyface said:fucking silverlight. Any other streams?

When are you going to buy a WP7?Firestorm said:
this a million times over. Also isn't Netflix Silverlight?Firestorm said:._.
And yeah, my love for Silverlight just might last forever after the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. It afforded the greatest goddamn web coverage of any live event in history.
No MS won't let me use a non IE based browser on my phone. Just another example of why we need an update. I can't even watch MS' own press conference on their phone.brotkasten said:What's wrong with Silverlight? At least I can watch the stream on full screen and use my other monitors at the same time. e: I see. Can't you use another browser?
That's WP7 not supporting Silverlight. Doesn't make it less awesome.Brettison said:No MS won't let me use a non IE based browser on my phone. Just another example of why we need an update. I can't even watch MS' own press conference on their phone.
