Quick question: is it relatively easy to snap a pic with the phone and post said pic on Twitter with a WP7 phone?
3rd-party applications can tie right into built-in phone functionality. So if you snap a pick and hit the "..." that's used to post to Facebook, send via e-mail, and all other built-in functionality, you'll see an "extras..." button. Hit "extras..." and it'll take you to a list of third-party applications.

So for example, the Photobucket application added an entry there so I can one-click upload something to Photobucket. I'm sure some Twitter applications will add themselves there for a one-click add to Twitter.

I've got Beezz, Seesmic, and Twitter installed and none of them support this unfortunately. Maybe in updates.

Haha. When a text fails to send, the messaging logo changes to a sad face. Not exactly amazing, but I thought it was a nice touch.

It's pretty cool. If you have more than 5 messages, you'll get a :-O face.

I remember reading this somewhere but I don't remember where, do app still do live tile even if you don't pin them (ie still access data?)

Also do you guys disable Feedback to Microsoft? I use the phone at night a lot since I work graveyard, and battery seems to run down much faster than day and I am thinking because it is sending feedback to Microsoft at night (or am I wrong?)

Anyway, disable it tonight and see if battery do better tonight.

I disabled "Feedback" and "Check for Updates Over Mobile Network" a while back. While I can't provide any concrete evidence, it does *feel* like the battery lasts longer.

I got the unlimited data, so I keep feedback on, but I turned update check off. I'm in this thread every day, I will know right away when an update is released. You guys are my update check. :D

Well I had it disable for most of the night until Zune app crash and I have to restart the phone .. well apparently those feedback setting are default to on (WTF Microsoft, you are not paying for my data) so it was on for half the night so I can't really tell. Thought it seems the battery did run down quickly between 3-5am ... may be that's when the phone send the data.

Found this on Paul's Windows Phone Secrets Blog, I thought it was interesting about LG expectation of WP7

http://windowsphonesecrets.com/2011/01/14/lg-windows-phone-7-hasnt-performed-as-well-as-expected/

I recently get a chance to play with LG phone and it is really not a bad phone especially if you want real keyboard. What I noitce was while the screen is not as good as Focus it still is very good.

Just got home with my new Samsung Focus! I'm in LOVE! It's so light and the screen is to die for. Ok, typical newb questions incoming, I've looked around this thread but haven't read it all, so sorry if these are re-hashes.

1) Do not like that it imported all of my Facebook friends automatically into "People". I selected one of them to try and delete them, but delete was greyed out? Is there an easy way to jettison all my FB friends?

2) I went to the Marketplace and selected a few games and Twitter to download. I noticed it queues them up, do they keep downloading and installing if the phone is in standby, or do I need to stay on the Marketplace until all downloads are finished?

3) If you have connected to a wifi hotspot, will the phone automatically use it instead of using 3G?

1) You can go into the people application settings and turn it off.

2) They should in theory keep downloading. Someone people have said they've had issues though downloading some stuff over 3g, but everything seems to be good over wifi.

3) It will as long as you've already selected it before hand. I have my house wifi saved in so it auto switches over. If I'm out at a place that I've never been before it won't auto switch over, but if you have the option selected it'll pop up a notification saying a wifi hotspot is available.

1) Go to Settings > swipe to applications > people and then "Only add Facebook info to existing contacts"

2) Yes, you can leave the marketplace. It downloads and installs everything in the background

3) Yes, it should automatically use WiFi instead of 3G.

edit: Damn you, Brettison!

Thanks guys! Very helpful. I snagged several apps, and tried out Zombies! and it was pretty sweet. Gonna be fun earning achievements on the go/toilet.

I'm having troubles installing Chevron, it WAS working when it first came out, ow I'm trying and it doesn't work, I don't have a clue what I'm doing differently. I keep getting error

Please make sure its connected via USB,
Please start Zune.

I am doing both... Help!

Bing Maps/Search better get updated or Google needs to bring their Maps to WP7 because Bing is lacking in a major way. Not only does Google have more listings, a larger range if listings but on the My Touch 4G is was vastly faster. The My Touch phone tho has more ram and a HSPA+ chip. Still, Bing needs improvement.

Looks like we will get full backup, this is really good to know.

http://wmpoweruser.com/windows-phone-7-update-will-feature-full-backup-restore-points/

Also seems they want to know how to make Zune better

http://wmpoweruser.com/what-would-you-do-to-make-the-zune-software-better/

For me, I need a better podcast management and ability to bookmark or at least remember that particular podcast even if I switch to another podcast and come back later. Right now the podcast just reset if you go to another podcast.

The bit about screen capture is really depressing to read. This is so typical of Microsoft...

I dunno, they're saying that nobody has ever requested it in their focus groups so its not a priority. Seems kinda reasonable, I know I haven't needed it.

You'd sure appreciate it when looking for help on something to do with your phone and the guide includes screenshots.

Have they not looks and see what features that work great for iPhone? I don't mean they should copy whatever iPhone is doing but you can clearly see what feature iPhone have that user really enjoy (despite how useless they may think it is, that's not the point).

I don't see how they think screen capture is not useful. ...from reviewing game, to showing off your app or even send them to your friends and family or put on Gaf p/u thrend...

Yeah, I get that. I'm just saying that they seem convinced that none of those concerns came up in their focus group testing.

Awesome. Yet another app that I downloaded that won't work on my phone. Downloaded zombies. Played half a round, exited it. Tried coming back later and everytime I try to continue my game or even start a new one and it'll just crash and exit out to the start screen

I am so sick of this kind of stuff. No major issues, but there are so many small ones that just build up to the point that I dont think I'm going to keep this phone past the initial 6 months unless MS gets their act together and fixes things.

What phone do you have? Try a hard reset.

Will be interesting to see what the first WP7 update brings, WRT bug fixes.

Has anybody got any experience with buying phones through ebay? Most WP7 phones are going for about £250 on ebay, which is a price I'm happy to pay. If I can snag a Omnia 7 for that price then that'd be great. But how reliable are these phones? Is it important to get a warranty? Will I still have the manufacturer warranty if I buy it from ebay?

Oh, and is it a good time to buy a phone right now? I don't mind waiting a few months.

That sucks. Only app that fucks with me is the Weather Channel app. Sometimes it just won't open. It'll start to then boot me back to the main menu. Usually a reboot fixes it though. Everything else for me has been fine though.

I do wish more apps got updates frequently to fix little things.

I bought my Optimus 7 from a small retailer on Ebay and had no problems so far. At one point I thought the phone didn't accept the SIM anymore, so I called the LG customer service and they were ready to repair it, as long as I had a receipt. Thank God it was just my SIM card that was busted. The only phone that had some issues at the beginning, was the HTC 7 Trophy.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=24193897&postcount=716

But I guess HTC already fixed the quality issues.

If you don't need to buy a phone right now, I'd wait for Mobile World Congress (Feb 14.-16.).

They should put in screenshots if only to make their apps and UI look better on tech blogs when reviewing...

Or even on the marketplace. And I surely hope this first patch fix the markeplace crash ... it's get really old having to reboot my phone everytime I broswe marketplace more than a few mins.

IGN app is awesome (as far as app, not the content) and WikiPanda is also great app for doing Wikisearch. It is nice to see good apps coming down the pipe in greater numbers.

I haven't experience app / game crashing problem , except for how slow some app loaded. The only crash I have is always involve browsing the marketplace.

I noticed also lately as I add more tiles to the start screen, it take a second or so now for the screen to fully populate.

It's funny I stopped going to IGN all together about a year ago, but I saw someone in this thread said the app was out. I actually visit IGN sometimes now just because the app is well designed. It also helps that I can actually watch video too.

Do third party apps have access to the search button? Seems like it always exits to bing search when pressing.
It would be nice if it could be used instead of an on screen search button in some apps, would be even more helpful if it could be ignored in games.

ok, after fooling around more with bing on my desktop, i realize bing is pretty amazing. it's the mobile version on wp7 that sucks. in fact, i've read that bing on iphone is better than the wp7 version. this better be updated with the first update.

Just wait till Bing releases streetslide for the masses...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-_T949uSwU

Makes street view look like 10 year old tech. They only have streetslide in select markets at the moment..the usual, San Fran, Manhattan, etc.

You know what's funny? Steetslide is available on the iPhone version of Bing. (insert :lol here)

Yes, it's total fail on MS part. You just have to love the lack of synergy between their different departments.

Hmm think I'm gonna just break down an order a Blizzard authenticator...

Wish I could just download the free app but whatever I doubt we get one anytime soon.

Alright, lets talk cases. I've never been big on putting cases on phones and such, but the Focus just seems like it's asking for one. I'd hate to get a scratch on the screen.

So, what is the thinnest, least obtrusive case for a Samsung Focus that you guys could recommend?

I have the Incipio case. It weighs almost nothing. Is easy to remove. Has taken a few drops like a boss.

The screen is the one part of the phone that needs the least protecting. I ordered a soft silicone case from Amazon a called it a day. I hate covering up my phones in general because these phones look so cool, but I drop them so much I pretty much have to.

Yep I got one for my Omnia 7 and sometimes I take it of at home so I can remember how sexy the phone looks.

On a side note is the an app where I see/control my desktop. Used to be able to do it on my n97

Worth to get a Samsung Focus right now or are there any good WP7 phones coming out soon?

New hardware will probably be announced at February at MWC. I believe Samsung already said they were working on a 4G WP7 phone.

Oh alright, might as well wait few more months till I get a clear picture of the next iPhone and the WP7 phones.

My current iPhone 3G is still holding me off but it is screaming for a replacement, lol.
