should be interesting to see how mango phones hold up amidst the upcoming iPhone 5 media onslaught.

I say BRING IT! I personally am EAGER to see WP7.5 vs iOS5 all over the tech blogs. The response to Mango by them today has been encouraging. Maybe the breath of fresh air that it is will make iOS5/iPhone 5 seem stuck in the past. Sure, the sheep will still stay with what they know, but it will start the discussion about valid options out there. That's how it started with Android, so there is precedent for it.

Again, I say bring it.

I say microsoft needs invest more time not money into thier marketing department. Some of thier YT ads are better than on tv. And speaking of tv ads I don't even see wp7 on tv anymore. If they are going arn't even going to advertise their product then they've already got one foot in the grave.

Just read the CNET review of Mango:

It's like they don't know the back button exists. You can't objectively review an OS if you're expecting it to work like an iPhone.
? The iPhone has the same behavior.

I'm having a problem setting up my Yahoo account [Technically Rogers] on the default yahoo option. Does anyone know how to fix this?

ok, the first force worked but after updating zune software and trying to update my phone again it just gets stuck in the "checking for updates" screen.

What did you get?
Fully loaded 2012 Focus Titanium Hatch (Sterling Grey Metallic paint, Tuscany Red leather, and the black painted alloy wheels).

I'll post some pics in the car thread soon.

Why not? Everything has to live up a certain standard, and the iPhone has become the golden rule.

Web Marketplace isn't autodownloading apps for me. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I had to do a reset of my phone before this feature worked.. coming from nodo, going to 7403 then to 7720 and finally samsung update..

Now it works perfectly.. just as well as it does on Android, imo.

Got Mango.

But it changed the theme (changed the colour of the tiles) and for some reason it re-synched 400 e-mails from my yahoo account...

Still waiting for the applications updates.

Edited: and I know it is just a matter of getting used to it, but a lot of things looks weirder to me in Mango. Specially in the games hub.

Phone is back to normal thankfully.

Loving Mango. Messed around with Bing vision, which is sweet. Really like the Twitter intergration as well.

Is the Mango update supposed to have the HTC apps (sound enhancer, attentive phone, etc.) already baked into settings? I can't find them anywhere on the marketplace and they're not in my settings. And yes, I have an HTC phone (the HD7).

Mine was sitting at 8/9 for what seemed like forever. Finally the phone restarted (took longer than normal to boot) ... and Mango was there.

Strangely Zune didn't seem to see the phone as having rebooted, so I eventually canceled. Hopefully that doesn't hurt anything. Seems to be running great so far.

I have to say, the QR Code/MS Tag scanner in Mango is very impressive. You can just point it at a screen and it brings up a list of all the text it finds.

My phone is not connecting to my computer.

The charging symbol ( "the plug" where it shows the battery life) is there and it makes a connection noise

but the computer doesn't recognize the phone in device manager nor is it connecting to zune.

It use to but I don't know what happened now.

This happened to me once after migrating my windows to a new harddrive.
I uninstalled zune and reinstalled it, everything worked after that.

Ok I did not know much about the new image search but I just put my camera up to a video game box and it gave me the prices, reviews and ect of the game, holy shit this is awesome.

Yah, I am uninstalling zune atm and while update whether it works or not.

I am hoping it does. I'll just restart the comp

edit: didn't work, even after uninstalling and restarting ( the USB ports are good btw and so too is the cable (it's brand new).

Ok So I got it working now and here is the solution for those who experience this in the future. Thanks to those who responded and helped

So I went into device Manager and clicked the search button for recently changed hardware or added hardware. Normally with a Windows 7 phone it would be under portable devices ( this is the Microsoft solution) unfortunately it failed and didn't appear.

So there is an option to look for recently added drivers the sequence is somewhat this

Microsoft/Windows 7 phone ( latest date)

After that it will download the driver and then the portable device option will be available but the Windows 7 phone driver will have a yellow sign next to it indicating that it isn't updated or functioning properly.

Right click that yellow sign and click update driver. It will then update and restart.

Unplug your windows 7 phone and when the computer has restarted and back into desktop mode plug in your windows 7 phone and it will begin instnalling the downloaded update ....

After that connect to zune and it will work... Or so it did for me.

so after trying to force 50 some odd times tonight i am giving up. just aint working for me. maybe the gods of ATT will be kind enough to officially release it to me tomorrow.

where do I change the ringtone to use my mp3
long-hold a file from your music collection and it will offer the option to change it to ringtone.

I believe it must be 40sec or less though.

Exactly. He's saying that you don't need to relaunch the app and go through all of the menus to get back to where you were like an iPhone. Once it shows you its downloading, hit the back button and you're back where you left off in the marketplace.

If you want it now the MangoForAll tool should provision your phone to receive 7403 (and hence 7720). I haven't actually tried it myself, since I ended up using the disconnect method, but a few users over at XDA have said it works fine.

Actually, in the iPhone launching an app brings you straight back to the previous state if it's still in memory, so it's not a huge issue that it sends you back to the main screen. It seems like the reviewer tried to apply this same concept to Windows Phone, discovered that it didn't work the same way, and criticized the OS for it. That's what annoys me - users expecting an OS to behave exactly the same as their previous one and complaining when it's different to what they're used to. I can't really blame them, but being different should never be a con in a proper review.

While Updating to Mango there was a Zune update as well for me. And when I did the update, I had the same issue happen.

Computer wouldn't recognize my phone. It looks like the update blew away the driver. I didn't realize it, but in the background Windows was waiting for me to click finish on the 'new hardware' dialog. Once I did that it seemed to work. Granted, Zune didn't recognize my phone rebooting for 8/9 of the final update. Hopefully that doesn't mean I'll have more issues.

It's more like bias.

Anyway, love my Mango. It was fine with beta but thing are just much smoother with the final release.

That's Dell Venue Pro. You can get one cheap off contract. The problem is the firmware is kinda shitty. If I can find one sub-$150 I might bite because I really like the design.

Didn't they fix the firmware?

I can't put the "Me" Tile back on my homescreen, it does not work. Any tips?

Go to the People Hub. Click on your image at the top, it'll take you to another screen. At the bottom of that screen is the Pin icon.

I did that. It goes back to the homescreen, scrolls down, but the icon is not there. I am out of ideas.

Try to remove your accounts and restart the phone. Then sign in again. If that doesn't work you may want to Restore the device
