You guys are crazy. I mean, how hard is it to put Windows Phone 7.5 on the N9? XDA would get it done in less than 7 hours.

I'm not entirely sure if you're serious or not, but the N9 has completely different hardware and the first XDA port would obviously be Android. ;-) We've discussed this few times in this thread, it's not easy to develop a mobile phone and it takes time. It needs to be developed, prototyped, tested, manufactured and the most important point, carriers have to order it.VanMardigan said:You guys are crazy. A Telstra source said that Nokia has shown them a model of the Windows based handset. "It is very smart and visually appealing" they said. "The issue will be whether consumers are prepared to invest in a Windows based model. They haven't in the past" said the Telstra executive.

Just shows that people stick to one OS.
I'm sure soon this guy will buy his first Mac.

Do you have Zune player hangs/freezes between songs?
Do you crash while playing music?
If so: what are your experiences like?
The lady is running into issues with Mango playing music for more than one song in a row without crashing her phone. Anyone else getting this? I don't have the same phone or issue so I'm at a loss.

right now the complete lack of customizable notifications for different accounts is strongly annoying as well as the lack of a decent twitter app that does what i want it to.
also, the hardware is just meh. its not bad, but its just boring and the call quality is mediocre at best.
I want so badly to love wp7, its 80% there, but i guess i was spoiled by some of the things android could do.
If this was my first smartphone, im sure id be in love.
this. if don't want the phone then buy another one. you don't have to like it.Totakeke said:It's simple, if you do not care enough for the unique advantages that Windows Phone offer, switch to another platform that has everything *cough* you want.

@joebelfiore: Thanks for the votes, #mango users! More mango updates went "fine" on engadget than IOS5 (just on its first day)... engt.co/qOiltI
@billcox: RT @MattRosoff: The iOS 5 upgrade is a disaster. Erased all my contacts. They're not in any "cloud." I just became a Windows Phone customer.
@BrandonWatson Important apps for Android: Advanced Task Manager is right between Angry Birds (#6) and YouTube (#8). #angryapps
@billcox Hells bells...2,810 apps in the Android marketplace for the query "Task Manager" market.android.com/search?q=task+ #Seriously
@BrandonWatson: Groan, is there any mobile platform not making our jobs easier today? I guess Android is still in the clear....Ohhh...someone beat me to buying http://error3200.com - dang it
@BenThePCGuy(Ben Rudolph)#DearBlackberry users: frustrated w/ your BB? I want to help! Tell me y u want 2 upgrade 2 a #windowsphone - I've got 25 to give away.
Commodore said:Yikes, iOS users are having a tough time updating today I see. Kinda gives some credence to MS's phased rollout. Plus, a slew of the Windows Phone team on twitter are in full evangelical mode, laying into Blackberry's email servers plight, Android's need for a Task Manager app, and Apple's update woes. Kind of entertaining to see them get their battle on.
It's like they're...coordinating. Odd.
VanWinkle said:lol. WP7 does have a lot of great things going for it, really. I am buying a Trophy from a gaffer here. I'm pretty excited to try it out. I love Zune HD, so the interface should feel instantly pretty familiar.

As a Zune HD owner, I missed the beautiful screensaver and Smart DJ. With Mango, WP7 got replacements for both. Same Smart DJ and Artist Wallpaper at the locksreen.VanWinkle said:Now let me ask you this. I assume you had a Zune HD then, right? Was there anything you felt you missed from Zune HD when you moved to WP7? Any features or little touches the Zune HD had that WP7 lacks?
I disagree. Zune is a dead brand. They really need to introduce the successor. Maybe with W8 + WP8.Complex Shadow said:MS REALLY needs to push zune into their ads.
No HD tuner and less storage are the two shortcomings. Many more benefits, but you asked about negatives.VanWinkle said:I agree.

Commodore said:This. It's complete now. Plus I have all 14 million tracks with me on the go with the Pass. The only thing I want to see now is streamable access to all my autoplaylists I've collated over the years using the Zune software.
VanWinkle said:Awesome. Can you create playlists on the phone like on Zune HD?
Robobandit said:You can, but only in a round-about way.
You can turn your "Now Playing" list into a playlist.. and you can add individual songs and albums to that list.
There's no easy way to add a song directly to a playlist, unfortunately.. it's a bit of an oversight on MS' part.
I still use my Zune HD for music because I find the interface easier to use when you aren't looking at the screen. With the HD, I can easily tap the media button and use gestures to skip forward/back or change the volume without taking it out of my pocket. With my Focus, I can change the volume with the buttons, but I don't find them as precise as using the screen, and you can't really change tracks without looking at the screen.VanWinkle said:Now let me ask you this. I'm sorry, but if you don't like the restrictions Windows Phone places on you, you probably won't like the iPhone either.fat pat said:on day 4 of trophy and wp7. im very strongly leaning at ditching and getting a 4s.

I disagree, making everything Xbox will give the problems making everything Windows has. The brand would be to satuiated, it is good to keep the Zune brand alive- and I feel if they wanted to give life back to it, a savy marketing program would no doubt do just that.jagowar said:Agreed.... the zune brand was actually kinda cool but it never has gotten the mass market adoption required. I know this doesn't make a ton of sense and I have said it here before but they should rebrand all media under the xbox brand. Its the one consumer brand people actually like from microsoft.
Genesis links with Windows Phone game Fusion: Sentient, developed by a separate studio. You cultivate AI pet units on the mobile game and trade them using an auction house system in the main game.

That might be true, but they're already doing that. Music and TV services in Windows will be accessed from the Xbox Live menu.trinest said:I disagree, making everything Xbox will give the problems making everything Windows has. I've been using them in Germany for a couple of days and it doesn't work as well as I hoped it would. The fixed commands like 'text...' work well, but voice search or text input for messages are often not recognized correctly.
Damon Bennet said:yeah its not that good in germany. it has problems with english words and names. still, when i am lazy i write using my voice.

the long press on the headset button only works if the phone is already out of the lockscreen, right? and i still need to tap on the "voice" symbol if i want to use my voice to write a message?

No game 2 weeks in a row is a fucking joke on MS' part. I can take higher prices. I can take slower performance. I can take one game a week. But now no games for 2 weeks? Something needs to give. I've put up with a lot trying to give MS chances. I have the unlocked phone and I've bought quite a few games to play for the achievements. Meanwhile, on iOS I get Scribblenauts yesterday. It's like...in a completely different league. Why the fuck can't something like that come out on both phones simultaneously or close to simultaneously. Oh wait, because developers just don't give a shit. Every major dev I've emailed about bringing their games to WP7 has given the same response, "Maybe we'll look into it!" It's just fucking obnoxious, and I have an iPhone and iPad! I couldn't imagine only having a WP7. I just feel like MS is spitting in the faces of their base and they just don't care. Total opposite of their attitude with the xbox.

None of the Mango apps that they demoed back at MIX have been pushed out yet, which doesn't make sense when you consider that apps like Spotify and Skype etc were already usable back in April.
