I voice dial sometimes, but never voice to text. Just easier to type it out.

Except when you're driving or walking and don't want to be that lady who tumbles into the fountain while texting. Or your phone is on the counter or nightstand and you're busy doing something else. I used to never utilize it. Now I have it on "always on" at all times. You don't want anyone to hear it? Set your phone to vibrate. I love the thing. It makes all my iPhone owning relatives jealous when I use it.

I hate texting while I driving no matter what. I hate using my phone in general while I driving even with bluetooth. It's become sort of a rule that I only use the phone when I absolutely have to in the car, and only to call someone.

wont ios 5 be able to do that?

I'm not trying to convince you to use it. I'm simply pointing out the typical applications for its use. Even if someone texts you while you drive, you don't have to answer. You can choose to listen to it, which is still handy. My moment of realization occurred when I had accidentally left on "always on" while fiddling with it. Then my sister happened to text me at 6am the next morning while I was still in bed. I listened to it, replied and sent it off without even moving. That's when I was sold on it.

Not without an iPhone 4S. Maybe that changes going forward, but not currently it won't. At least from what I've read.

I loved that when I was riding on my bike listening to some music, I remembered I promised to tell my buddy when I was on my way to his place, so i just used voice to write him.

Skype's part of the family now officially. Any bets on when we'll see an official app? How far out till we get the baked in treatment?
i am betting on the update after tango till we see the baked in treatment. that on with tango.

COMMON MS, DO IT FOR ME.

MS needs to roll out Skype integration to both Facebook and WP and release them simultaneously. Media would eat this up.
you give the media to much credit. this morning i saw an anchor and a co anchor wonder what the "S" in 4s stands for. they're like "i think it stands for steve. oh how nice :3" and this went on for another 10 mins before they actually went onto discuss the new iOS 5.

It's older than that. I remember seeing it at least 6 months ago.
I don't believe that.

The PR article and video were published on that day.

Sprint, where are your Mango WP7 phones?

*peeks into iOS5 thread*

Maybe Microsoft should do another free twitter giveaway of phones to disgruntled iPhone users too.

What's wrong with iOS5? My iPad updated just fine.

Anyway, giving away phones is cute and all as a publicity stunt .. but they really need to concentrate on real marketing. Get phone on the shelves, get people train to "sell" your phone in stores instead of having them get directed to Androids and iPhone.

Also can't wait for this to become available so I can run Accent Changer again.

Here is your marketing.

Sooo..any word on new phones for Sprint?

I've been holding out for so long, I'm almost numb at this point. I'm willing to switch carriers at this point but would much rather stay on sprint since they're so cheap. Nokia phone has me intruigued but I'm willing to bet it won't make it onto a CDMA network plus the screen is too small. The Titan has me titilated though, minus the resolution.

I can't take this waiting anymore.

:lol Sprint. Sprint's iPhone 4S website showcases the HTC Arrive phone as the Buyback phone model.

Scroll toward the bottom of the page.

That will get WP7 phone sales rolling for Sprint.

Bing Maps got a nice little visual upgrade, which matches it closer to the desktop version. Main roads are clearer with text also more legible.

Got an Optimus 7 today that was originally on Vodafone but has been SIM unlocked.

Was thinking about debranding it, this a good tutorial for it? http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Learn-giffgaff-Top-Tips/How-to-debrand-LG-Optimus-7-E900-How-to-flash-firmware/td-p/1093749

Worth debranding it? Phone is still on 7.0.7004.0 too, that's not even NoDo right?

Also, saw this guide too, but it doesn't seem to be for flashing a ROM

You mean in mango? Or can it be updated like any other app through the market?

I assume they probably just updated the images on the server.

Text is still too large, though. Really annoying. Google Maps is so much better than Bing Maps at this point. Just look at this:

Just received 3 app updates. All of them added new features. Mango support was not one of them. Bloody hell. Almost a month in and only a handful of apps support multitasking, much less the full subset of Mango APIs.

Update on the back-end, no need to update the app.

Did you try to update through Zune? That's how I updated my Optimus 7. (I'm in the UK, not sure if that matters)

Yeah tried it about 20 times through Zune by using the force update method but to no avail. That 7403 build is from what I can tell the one before the actual Mango update so the only thing I can think of is that I need to flash on a new firmware from that link.

With its A5 chip, the iPhone 4S is noticeably faster in everything you do. From launching apps to switching between apps using multitasking, you can’t help but notice the speed increase.

One thing I particularly noticed was the animations when launching and switching apps. When an app is launched or closed, it is supposed to zoom in or out — this wasn’t always evident in previous versions of the iPhone.

The iPhone 4 would sometimes show animations, but a lot of the time, an app would just appear.

The increased performance of the iPhone 4S is great news for developers. They have been pushing the envelope of Apple’s hardware, releasing more complex, graphics intensive apps that require this power.
from the LoopInSight review (via MacStories)
This jives with my experience the past day. Curious... I haven't used a WP for a few weeks and don't recall if the OS ever skipped animations. I don't think it did (on some rare occasions that would be to my frustration actually; the animations could seem like frivolous eye candy when I'm in a rush and frenetic to get some quick information). I'd obviously notice stuttering animations (Android) more than if the OS just cheated and skipped (iOS). Seems like WP7 should be given props as the smoothest especially given that it's using less powerful hardware than the others.

Yep, it's no different. Definitely one of the better map apps available, at least until Bing get their act together.
Awesome, will be using that from now on then. Though i do like the scouting feature of the default maps.

Aye, scouting is great. Really hope Bing pull it together, they've got a great app, it just needs a lot more detail.

Went down to AT&T, looked at the Galaxy SII......I don't even know what to think anymore. I've had my contract renewal sitting there since June and MS seems intent on allowing all the other big players release their phones before we can get Mango phones in the US.

Speaking of which, why don't any of the Euro-gaffers own a Titan?

Did you get a firmware update for your Optimus 7?

Not too sure, I had to flash one manually as it wasn't updating to Mango. Ended up taking me back to the day 1 software, I then went through all the updates via Zune up to Mango.

At the minute this is what it's telling me

OS version 7.10.7720.68
Firmware revision number 1.1.2.10
Hardware revision number 1.0.0.0
Radio software 1.1.2.10
Radio hardware version 0.3.5.0
Bootloader version 1.5.1.0
Chip SOC version 0.30.2.0

My FW revision number and Radio sofware is 1.0.13.10.

It's a FW issue. Unfortunately, I have no advice on how to update FW. Sorry bud. :(

GPS and Xbox LIVE have randomly started working again on my Optimus 7, all is now good again.

Glad to be back with Windows Phone again.

Edit - And now GPS isn't again, very odd.

Edit 2 - Working again now.
