whats the difference between annual and monthly

Functionally, nothing. But it's 2 months cheaper (20 dollars) than if you'd gone month to month.

Comes out to ~8.20 a month (in the US) - pretty solid pricing.

yeah, i had the extra money to spare since i got on the walmart/t-mobile $30 a month plan. i'm in the middle of porting my old number back now to google voice since this new plan won't allow you to port. so far so good.

I wish they would credit me back for paying for the year of the old zunepass.... I have the $150 one with the free songs each month but would want to go back to the streaming only plan (wasn't an option when I paid for the year). Guess I will have to stick it out until my year is up and then drop down.

So did your plan port?

I am still so upset that MS does not let me use my points to buy things on the phone. I refuse to put a credit card back onto my account.

I assume there is no work around for this right?

The worst part is that in-game DLC must be purchased using MS points. So if you want to buy Beards and Beaks and then buy the DLC, you will need both :p

Beards and Beaks is the only WP game with IAP/DLC.

bought the $100 annual zune pass and absolutely love it. highly recommended and much much better than spotify and other similar services.

I have been using for over a month now and I love it as well. I listen to a lot more music now than I used too.

Finally seeing some aggressive pushing for WP7 (well more for the lumia with Windows Phone branding somewhere in the corner, but that's how you get the folks over here). It's still only in the rich side of town, but still. Keep that ish up MS

Got an update for my Focus in Canada (currently installing). I assume it is internet sharing :). I don't need it too badly but nice to have anyways.

Edit: Don't notice anything different.

Jesus, how far we've come.

It's good to know that Microsoft got their update shit right and can now push out smaller updates without much hassle.

Hey, quick question:

I plan to go to my parents' over the weekend and when I head back on sunday I want to watch some episodes of some shows on my omnia 7 on the train, as I dont want to bring my laptop.

Can I download Zune on their computer and synch my Phone without losing all my stuff on the phone?

so i did a sim/phone number change to get on that new $30 tmobile plan and let me tell you that sim card swapping on a WP7 has been the most painless experience i've ever had. there was absolutely no change with my phone, other than the number. all my texts, emails, apps, everything was on there. i was prepared to do what i did on my previous blackberries which was to do an entire system restore where i have to enter all my numbers, download my apps, etc.

another win for wp7. when i travel out of the country i'm not going to hesitate picking up a new sim card.

So I'm not an Android guy persay, but seeing a flagship device like the Galaxy Nexus coming to NA this month really makes me wish WP had such a device this year (even if a couple of the other new phones are solid choices). For WP to really have a push it just screams the need to have a big flash ship device to push around.

On another note even though we already pretty much knew this Ballmer said this week he wants Windows 8 on phones. We all knew we'd get this in some form anyways.

I hope beyond hope that means we get the Win 8 kernel for phones in some form. That would be a HUGE win IMO.

the future looks good for windows phone users, but we have to make these dreams into ideas, and these ideas into reality.

From Engadget's Focus S review.
Honestly, we don't have any major complaints about the Samsung Focus S, but there wasn't much that wowed us either. If you're a Windows Phone 7 fan you'll find plenty to like about the device. Mango hums along nicely and the Super AMOLED Plus display, despite its shortcomings in the pixel density department, perfectly highlights the stark beauty of Microsoft's mobile OS. There's also a very good camera with a dedicated dual-stage button and the battery life borders on epic. But, none of that changes the fact that we came away feeling underwhelmed. The build quality is mediocre at best and there just isn't anything distinguishing about the handset that would make us definitively say this is the Windows Phone to get. More than anything, though, our disappointment probably stems from the cost. At $200 on a two-year contract we expect a high-end experience that matches the high-end price and the Focus S simply doesn't deliver that. Making it even tougher to recommend, is the fact that the Titan will be landing on AT&T any day now delivering a better build, faster performance and a larger screen for the same wad of cash. The Focus S isn't a bad phone -- far from it -- but it just doesn't feel worthy of its flagship-like price tag.

Ouch.

How much praise did they drop on the Galaxy S II?

It's the best Android smartphone yet, but more importantly, it might well be the best smartphone, period.

...

Nonetheless, if you're asking us what smartphone to buy today, unconstrained by such externalities, the Galaxy S II would be the clear choice. Sometimes it's just as simple as that.

They really mean it if they write "period"!

To be fair, the Focus S doesn't really live up to the price tag. The Titan, on the other hand, has a 4.7" screen and a metal unibody.

That actually sounds pretty accurate, not sure about the build quality part but what it offered for the price is the reason I went with the Focus Flash for $50. The phone doesn't even offer a good value when compared to Samsung's other products, much less the competition.

Really liking the Focus Flash by the way, would definitely recommend it.

Found a really cool LoL app last night. Never really thought about searching for one until a buddy in vent said he had one he used on his iPad the other day. Been meaning to look for one since he mentioned it, but just keep forgetting to do so.

This mornings craziest rumor: Amazon rumored considering making a smartphone with Microsoft's phone OS.

http://wmpoweruser.com/wait-what-amazon-wants-to-make-a-windows-phone/

Amazon would be a nice partner. Killer services.
The only logical step for Amazon to do is release an Android phone.

Come on. That report is off the mark.

Why would Amazon be hiring people for Android in the past year and have an Android market place that gives a free Android app every day?
