Cheers fella.

Do you have a link to their 920 tariffs? I can't find these details. (Not that I'd leave O2, but I'd still like to give their tariffs a butchers).
They are sensibly not talking about it.When is 7.8 coming out?
Its the effortlessness of the whole process that really appeals, plus I consider the overhaul of the Outlook website a real advantage for Microsoft. Together with the SkyDrive web interface, it gives the Redmond company two of the best examples of web apps done right: both looking and functioning beautifully. Just take a look at the not-yet-updated Hotmail Calendar to appreciate how much of a leap Microsofts web services have taken over the past summer.
Microsoft has, therefore, enhanced the Windows Phone ecosystem before its even brought WP8 out to the market. You can also be more optimistic about developer involvement in the future as the new operating system provides access to native development, DirectX, and easy porting of apps between WP8 and Windows 8. Now that Windows 8 is available at retail, those square UI tiles should gain widespread acceptance as well, as people start getting accustomed to the new PC operating system. Finally, Microsofts persistent effort to unify its mobile, desktop and home console offerings through the integration of services like Xbox Music and Skype should ensure WP8s capabilities keep expanding over the coming months.
As I've currently got a Nokia simple phone (6700 classic), I might just get the O2 deal on the Lumia 800; phone is free @£26 per month for unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 1GB data.
Later next year, I'll see if I can pick up a 920 unlocked.
I looked at the apps on windows phone store online thing, and man it really is a sad state of affairs. I don't think the verge is wrong for slapping a 5 on it, which brings down scores a lot.

A 5 is generous. The only way they've managed to get some of the bigger apps is by making them or by money hatting a third-party. WP is still a distant third or fourth in developers minds.
just looking around in general. It's very light. What were you looking for?

WP is still a distant third or fourth in developers minds. Of course, it doesn't help when you don't even release the fucking SDK.

meh, I was just commenting in general. TBH I use my phone mostly to browse the web, text, email and the occasional game. I still own iOS device(s) for apps.I think there is enough there, at least what you may need. If you are into the app stuff, which means trying lot's of useless things once and never touch them again, yeah, than the WP marketplace is not for you maybe (yet).
8X! Support 4.3 inch phones so we get more. That HTC 8X is gorgeous, can't decide on either 920 or 8X.

When is 7.8 coming out?
Close.
The Verge:
Microsoft Windows Phone 8
7.9
GOOD STUFF
Home screen is the best on any mobile platform
Fast and fluid, just as Windows Phone has always been
Compelling, useful cloud strategy
BAD STUFF
App availability is still a concern
Stock mapping app isn't as good as hoped
Many annoyances from WP7 persist
Still true

You think it's "trashing" when it's a completely valid criticism that doesn't even come close to invalidating the product.
Frankly, they'd be better off without scores at all and letting the reviews stand on their own merit. People lose their minds if they see anything less than an "8" on their product du jour.
Oh ho ho, so I'm the fanboy?

I feel myself having an irrational need to buy this product right now.

Shut up and take my money.
So...anything confirmed for WP7 users other than the start screen?
Nope, nor did I expect anything at this stage.
I'll come back in two years and see if this platform still exists.
.
uhhh yea..
on W7.8 info... it is a clear example of the upgrade and shift to WP8 which is the "real" WP OS.
sucks for a while if on WP7 but the next phone upgrade will fix that for most people or in my GF's case, She will never notice the difference in WP7, 7.8 or 8.
At least for a long time... she loves WP

Yay. Incoming drunk horny messaged to my parents/friends...![]()
Apparently they just discovered that Facebook chat is integrated into Messaging. Might be one of my top 3 features on WP7, and they act as if they never heard of it before. Good job, The Verge.
My buddy got an 8x.
My buddy got an 8x.
How would he rate the ecosystem?
I want to know how WP7 apps look on the 720p screen (black bars?) and if possible if apps compiled for WP8 eliminates this.
Did he say he wishes it ran android? =p
How did he get an 8x?
He's a fanboy like me, so probably a 9/10. He was using a 900.
Really liking Windows 8 and it makes me to jump on board with WP8, I just don't want to leave the iOS ecosystem since I have so many apps and magazine subscriptions.

Can't wait to get my hands on one.
Really think Nokia UK have messed up by allowing EE to price the 920 into oblivion.
I have spotted this deal for the 8X though that is really tempting. £26 per month, 100mins, 500texts, 1.5gb data for 24 months on tmobile.

Trouble is I'm already with tmobile so I doubt they'll make it easy to jump onto a new contract price.
I really like many of the designchoices of WP. Like how you can resize tiles yourself, instead of all apps taking up the same space regardless of how much you use them, like on iOS.
But because they don't have the apps, I can't switch. So I hope they gain marketshare.
Because no one switches, fewer developers make apps. Catch 22.
What are some of the apps you really can't live without?
