I just hope AGE's failure doesnt cause them to cut back on G-Reko or the Origin or anything else, Gundam's on a bit of a high lately with Unicorn, the 40th anniversary, a bunch of great games etc. This failure is all on Hino
If there is any impact at all, it will mean that Sunrise and Bandai will focus more on the older core market now and spend more money targeting our taste than that of younger children.
That should happen... but what if they go the opposite direction and do something like the Chinese Gundam SEED knockoff! Hino's chance of redemption!
Any more news on Origin apart from the actual announcement?
Anncast Sexism Episode 2/10/2012 (I think this fits here?)
This show is usually bad...but this episode is borderline surreal. At first I found the whole situation funny. The ANNcast ringleader rounded up a bunch of women to get indignant about sexism. Some ways in things turned more sad. Is this really the way people think? In an effort to combat what they think is sexist a bunch of people cast aspersions over large swathes of people both in and out of the context of anime.
Now I'm mostly just confused. Like, how am I supposed to process the level of stupidity, snobbery, and ignorance here? This is only exacerbated by the context of having a conversation that is supposed to confront a type of discrimination. By the end of the podcast, everything was just offensive.
The messages I'm left with are that women can be whatever they want, as long as it is X, Y, and Z. Also, women shouldn't fall in love with men ever, because that would mean they are dependent on men, and that would be horrible and sexist.
The more I think about the things in this podcast the more confused I am. How is Mirai Nikki sexist? The whole show is based around two people who need each other to survive. This is augmented with a strain on that relationship by the psychotic inducing trauma one of the two had, but nothing about the show really strikes me as painting one gender in a specific way. How is B Gata H Kei sexist? Because it's about a girl who is interested in a guy that's less attractive than her? The absurdity of the examples peaks with K-on, which evidently uses girls being friends and hanging out as a device to propagate some yuri agenda that is also sexist.
This podcast is probably the most pathetic thing I will listen to all year. A bunch of people out of touch with reality vilify men and women with different sets of ideals and philosophies for being "sexist" or something. I don't even know anymore, but wow, this was just really disgusting.
The only thing ANN was ever good for was it's database, and now that we have the far superior anidb.net, there's nothing that ANN is good for. Hopefully you will learn a valuable lesson and never visit that terrible site ever again.
Anidb.net is superior? How so? I just had a look at it, and its far less complete than ANN's, and much harder to get any sort of accurate information on who worked on what.
Huh? I only visit anidb.net for the ratings, which is all I ever visited ANN's database for. If it's ever important for me to know who worked on what, I'm sure Animu-GAF will repeatedly inform me until it's burned into my memory forever. :3
I don't think anyone gives a crap about the ratings on any site. The only thing ANN is good for is for their show and staff database, which users help to update to the best of our ability. It's a great reference source as long as it is accurate. User ratings = ROFLMAO GTFO.
I would argue that it actually isn't at all. People got bad taste and stuff. Probably better to go in without any knowledge than bad knowledge.Whatever, I guess it's too much to expect the esteemed and distinguished gentlemen and ladies monocles of Animu-GAF to understand what use the user ratings might be to ordinary anime fans. There's always self-selection bias when dealing with user ratings but it's still better than having absolutely no idea of how good other people think something is at all.

How do you know it's actually bad or something just inaccessible to most viewers?I rely somewhat on user ratings too, not having the time nor inclination to sink finances into bad anime (or bad anything, really). I tend to stick with it's score on MAL though, anything over 7 is A-OK.
I do not actively visit ANN for anything other than their database (which I find to be very comprehensive). I am subscribed to the ANNcast through a third party program and as a fan of podcasts I check in on it from time to time. I typically listen to podcasts as I go to sleep, so in certain cases content can be irrelevant. There are quite a few good anime works that go unappreciated by the unwashed masses. Don't trust them.I don't, but I'm not about to second-guess the reasons people rate an anime as poor. It's likely if a small amount of people rate it as poor, then that's their own failing. If thousands of people rate it as poor, chances are I probably will as well.
Guys, I have to write a ten-page essay on Sophocles and I cannot start because I have on my mind that fucking maru song from the roundcat anime.
Anime fuck you. Can I just afford to blow this essay? It's only fifty points out of 330.

Such a Kawaii Morning.
You can trust us.Can't I just rely on you (and AnimeGAF in general) to bring those to my attention? It's far safer than wading through the sea of mediocrity for that one drop of greatness XD
You can trust us.
Another 06:
(7) Leaving the town ends susceptibility to the curse. Unless I understood this point incorrectly, it seems fucking retarded that the entirety of Class 3 and all their family members don't just leave Yomiyama for a year then if the curse starts that year. It's likely this is a point that I misunderstood if the solution could be that obvious. Maybe the distance immunity only works after you've survived the year in Yomiyama, I'm a bit confused on this point.
School Days.

Yes.Is School Days actively bad, though?
(I still don't understand the "pages" thing from American universities. Why don't you get asked for word counts? Some people have big handwriting/use tiny fonts in Word etc.)
Yes.

Well, I can be trusted at least.Which proves my point precisely.
Well, I can be trusted at least.
MAL lost what little credibility it had for me when I saw the user rating for Guilty Crown.
7.85
Did you wake up to Madoka?
Is School Days actively bad, though? It's a "troll" anime in that the content is pretty horrifying, but does that negate any other qualities it may actually have? Do people regret having watched it in the end?
It's pretty bad. There isn't much quality in the actual direction, art, writing, pacing, or animation.
Right, well I won't make any time for it then.
Blood-C fulfilled all my anime trolling needs for now.I loved Blood-C, bring on the film!

I also don't remember anything about "near death experiences" giving immunity to the curse...
Goddammit, where's that Mr. Burns laughing GIF when I need it? I know Branduil and DrForester use it, help me out here!
I thought the range limitation was mentioned in regards to the whole memory/document modification issue. I don't think they've said anything regarding the deaths in one way or another.

"Properly animated" or not, I find difficult to deny how extremely cool in the animation department were some of the moments of Captain Tsubasa J, could you?A soccer game is probably harder to properly animate than mecha action, I feel. It involves a lot more movement for sure. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a properly animated soccer game in anime...
It could be proper for the mere tools of this distant 'cold war' recreation they are, to express that kind of experience they are in... making social commentaries on the times drawing obvious parallel lines was like a requisite for the characters, maybe it can be called a 'fourth wall' break of some sorts. The thing that bothered me most was how all the characters could, regardless of background, launch into a sociological/philosophical monologue. I would expect that from the scientist, and the general, but not from Shiro and his layabout friends.
I definitely felt that, at certain times in Honneamise, I wasn't listening to the characters themselves but the writer/director speaking directly through the characters. While I don't mind characters conveying the agendas of their creators, it should be subtle, at least, and fit into the overall tone/setting.maybe it can be called a 'fourth wall' break of some sorts.
School Days.
Yes.

Yes... School Days is an excellent romantic story.
