No no, it means I'm Bakemonogatari's biggest fan. After all, I've seen it three times.
Even the snake arc?

Can't say that such an arc is really worth revisiting.
Actually, and I honestly can't believe I'm saying this, I'm getting the feeling you and others put Bakemonogatari on too high a pedestal.
No part of Nise comes close to being as bad as the first 1.5 episodes of Nadeko garbage.
I coined it, but I'm starting to think that maybe we can just return to the word "cute".
Although the BD version of the snake arc and Nise 4 are perhaps equally distasteful, the direction in Nise is worse.

If I had to pick one hnngghh show from the winter season out of these two, which one should it be?
Rinne no Lagrange
Ano Natsu
I vote for Ano Natsu - it's the more confident of the two.
Ano Natsu.
Easily.
Maru and Wan are powerful, powerrful things, but ano Natsu gives you a choice between several very hnnngable characters, inclusing a big boobie alien, an adorable sadist, a drunken friendzone girl who occasionally wears cat ears, and other surprises!
These people all speak the truth, but for different reasons. I don't actually qualified to chose one show over another based on "hnngh" because I don't have the faintest idea what that means.Rinne is a terrible show.
Ano Natsu is an enjoyable, if somewhat predictable romcom. It's filled with cute, entertaining, and enjoyable characters. Definitely go for this one.

I don't think suspense is a necessary element in a romance in like regards to "who ends up with who" it's the journey that matters; unless you are talking about suspense in reference to that, in which case I agree with you.
I will however, say that in this matters execution is far more important to me than simply the concept and the relationship patters.True. If I'd taken the time to write out the rest of my thoughts rather than leaving it there, it's that shoujo/josei is often much better about this kind of thing. Perhaps it's the nature of shounen/seinen romance?
I think the problem with AnoNatsu's establishing plot is its reliance on apparent archetypes. "Childhood friends" are SO overused that their emotional arcs tend to all be similar, particularly in the case of a show like this where the whole point is that the protagonist and the alien fall in love.
Then the bishounen guy and the shy girl with big tits (god, I can't remember any of their names!) will have some kind of slow-burning subplot until their mutual attraction is revealed, because their entire story is signposted through every single character interaction they share. There's nothing romantic about it because their chemistry is inorganic.[...]

Shinobu trumps Nadeko any day every day. Even unclothed.
I prefer to say that 'generic' isn't strictly a pejorative and that cliches become cliches for a reason.
Also AnimeGaf, I'm thinking about preordering this for around $450:

Does it seem extremely high for 26 episodes with animation fixes, 4 bluray discs, a PS3 game, and an art book? Also, would buying it from a secondary market be cheaper?
I have never imported bluray anime before but I know it reaches really high prices.
I don't really remember it being that radically different from the rest of the series. In certain areas I would almost say it excels past other sections of the show. It's probably Bake/Nise at its visual peak. Can't say that such an arc is really worth revisiting.
There is nothing new under the sun, and all that.

Sailor Moon 8

Time for Sailor Mercury! Apart from the swirling music in Mercury's transformation, I must say that right now I prefer Sailor Moon's.
This episode was filled with great faces and humor.

In newly announced anime news:
- Some Fate spinoff manga is getting animated, but it's not Fate/Zero so who cares?
- King Records' Starchild label has a "K" anime project which is clearly teasing Ikuhara's followup to Penguin Drum. Who am I kidding, it's going to be something no one cares about.
This is actually a pretty amazing idea. Having your waifu motivate you to wake up in the morning? Brilliant.

You know who needs to embrace expressive faces? Sunrise. The various recent works in the Gundam franchise seem to have the world's stiffest and most boring faces. Even SHAFT does this better!
What other reason is there for bothering to get up in this cruel, cold world, after all.
Has 4 different voice sequences to select from (no random option).
1) Wake up! Its morning!
Auu, Ill have to try harder!
WAKE UP!!
Oh! Good morning! Im happy you woke up.
Wh-what? A reward for keeping my promise to wake you up?
Well, um Id love to go out together somewhere!
2) Good morning! Its time for our morning training!
T-Today for sure Im going to get past* you!
So hurry out of bed and lets get started.
Hauuu No, dont go back to sleep
Although his sleeping face looks so content tee-hee
(*The verb used here for get past also has a slang meaning of rub one out/hand job, so this line also sounds like, T-Today for sure Im going to get you off!)
3) Good morning. Its about time to wake up.
Fauu hes not getting up
Oh, Maho just mailed me.
Lets see Kiss him while hes defenseless
Fueehh?!
Uuuu Ive already been finding it hard to look him
in the face lately my heart flutters so much for some reason.
Now with Maho saying things like that, I really
cant look at him
4) Mmm *sigh*
Fueh!? *shriek*!! I-Im sorry!
I grabbed and squeezed without even realizing it
Its so strong and warm
It just feels so good I couldnt help it
What? Mine felt good, too?
I hope we can hold hands tomorrow, too!
It's actually kind of like Nise in a way. The problem may belong to her, but the show focuses in on other characters. There's a lot of Kanbaru, some Hanekawa, and it builds a lot on the tension between Araragi's relationship with Senjougahara and his growing harem. It's fairly short and to the point, and even though it might be creepy fanservice I felt like all of the stuff with the snake as an ethereal entity was handled well. It lasts for all of two episodes and she isn't even in one of them. Is she really that unbearable?Nadeko is the least interesting character of the show, her problem lacks emotional impact, the dialogue isn't witty, there's really nothing going for it outside of creepy fanservice.
Sunrise should take a lesson from their own Gintama!
It sounds like Fate/Magical Girl. Yes, please. I love non-serious Naruverse stuff.

I'll probably take a more passive approach to this. Nothing else to do? Knock out an ep or two. I doubt I'll make a strong run at the series.
There's always something else to do. Read a book. Learn a language. Practice an instrument. Play in the sun. Watch paint dry.
Isn't that the magical girl Illya spin off?
I doubt it will be as amusing as Carnival Phantasm.

They seem to think that they can only doing in shows which are comedies. It's an odd approach to take, because it's not like they're investing in heavily realistic facial animation during Gundam - just stiff mannequins.

Nise 10
Not as bad as I was expecting based on some impressions here. It's still really disappointing that it took so long to even get to this point with the show deciding that it's much more important we witness what a supreme pervert Araragi is in extreme tender detail for episodes on end but if there's one thing I've come to expect from this show is a certain degree of disappointment permeating throughout. That and trashiness, of course.
And dammit I'm gonna have to concede that Shinobu is pretty darn cute (when fully clothed).
I take back what I said earlier. This thread isn't classy at all!
You people are not making me watch BRS. I must be strong.
You guys should really watch the Black Rock Shooter OVA before the TV show.
Bodacious Space Pirates 10
holy shit, pirate captain chiaki fucking owns. i wonder if space usagi's gonna stick around after they find the ghost ship.
Rinne no Lagrange 09:
On a note not necessarily related to just this series, am I the only one that finds it difficult to accept civilizations whose technology is so advanced that they're capable of space travel yet are still monarchies? I'm probably just looking at this through the lens of an American that has had "DEMOCRACY IS THE ONLY GOOD FORM OF GOVERNMENT" pounded into his head his whole life, but the amount of reason necessary to achieve such feats of science just feels so enormously at odds with the irrationality of rule by heredity. I love the mix of imperialism and space in science fiction as much as anyone, but when I begin to think about it too much, it can take me out of the story. Probably more so in Lagrange considering that?humans, De Metrians, and Le Garitans all originated on the same planet. How does Earth, the least-advanced of these peoples, end up with the least-tyrannical form of government
Just see it this way: Nisemonogatari is a bonus scenario. A special. "Koyomi's Summer Break".I don't know if it's unreasonable to expect a sequel to be as good as the original.
