Maybe they should've spent less time on the glorious tooth brushing scene
and more time on the stuff they've supposedly cut from the novels. I guess they'll do what SHAFT does best and add stuff back into the BD's.

Woah woah don't start talking crazy.

Your assumption that democracy is the final or even best form of government is flawed from the outset.

Just see it this way: Nisemonogatari is a bonus scenario. A special. "Koyomi's Summer Break".
It introduces a few new characters and hints at the actual sequel.

So what is the actual sequel then?

the problem with this is usually those kinda specials aren't an entire cour long and that's for a very good reason.

well... maybe they could've cut out all those added
incest scenes and cut the fat on the shinobu bath scene
instead but i'm not an anime director so what do i know??!?!

They should have just used the episode with brushybrushy to bridge the gap. It could have led to so much more interpretation!

I'm all for relegating Nise to the ranks of DTB2 if it's cool with you bros.
one of these days i'll watch DtB so i can finally understand the contempt for the second season.

maybe if the original director of bake was working on nise then this would be a reality but alas. :(

I don't understand the Yuasa bashing to be honest. He's a strange director to be sure, but his work doesn't come off as pretentious, just weird. Sometimes it's weird just to be weird, and I'm cool with that personally.

I haven't noticed a ton of bashing outside of pizzaroll.

So they got not one but TWO directors to work on the monagatari projects?
What are they putting in the water in Japan?

Am trying to watch Black Rock Shooter based on my misconception that it was some kind of pervy loli show (because of who told me to see it originally), and I get to this
Do they just not know how cup phones work...

Cup phones is pretty far down on the list of things that don't work how Mari Okada thinks they do.

Fucking Funai. Fuuuuuck him.

Sailor Moon 12

Magical disguise pen used for dispensing justice? So much for that. Luna ought to revoke that privilege. Usagi simultaneously rescuing and trolling Rei was the best.

Sailor Moon 13

Beryl raised the stakes right out of the gate. I lost it at the constellation viewing too.
Poor Jadeite deserved better though.

Shin Mazinger Z 10

Ok this was pretty funny. Cross' reveal really wasn't what I was expecting. Chogokin Z for everyone I guess. The Kurogane Five were impressive though.

Really liked this shot.

Whoops, forgot I was watching this. More of the same from all I remember. Ichise gets mad, wrecks some people, and Onishi does his thing looking stylish. Don't think I appreciated just how withdrawn Ran is until that guy tried to mess with her either.

Yes. And she is totally in both episodes, wriggling around naked and everything.
She is barely in the episode she premiers in. I guess I just fail to see why the sexual or fetishistic nature of Bakemonogatari only offends there in a series where stuff like the Tsubasa Cat OP can just kind of spring up. I don't think every character needs to be the kind to engage in witty banter, and it at least creates some kind of variety within the show. I also don't feel like these episodes are absent of that banter, as there's usually a tag along character, or someone else taking the spotlight. It also ends on a consideribly more somber note than most of the other arcs. It bucks some of the trends, thankfully in the back half of the series where the formula runs the risk of wearing thin. I consider there to be more egregious episodes in other arcs of Bakemonogatari where the situation drags itself out. The Medusa arc doesn't at the very least.

Glass Fleet 6

Oh my god, everything about the fight after
the glass ship crashes itself into the kidnapper's ship
was spectacular. Apparently space is a vaccuum now? Except for sometimes when there stops being a vaccuum so the characters can talk and/or sword fight?

Also I still can't figure out if Ralph's a girl or not.

The extremely thinly veiled implication is that Ralph is Vetti's boy toy.

* Adds Branduil and Jex to the ignore list. Obviously souls to be neither trusted nor saved.

I didn't think it was bad. Just weirdly disjointed.

I hated this too.

Remove the banter and you remove any reason to watch -monogatari.

It's still 2 episodes too long. The snail arc may have dragged, but at least it had entertaining conversations and a strong issue.

I see that you're starting to appreciate why Shin Mazinger Z has also been called The Baron Ashura show! It's like the director, Imagawa, realised that Ashura is a far more interesting character than Kouji.

I guess it's just a divergence of opinion here. I feel like these episodes are where temptation hits Araragi hard. He has to go on a date with the junior of his girlfriend, his discussion with Hanekawa has her dangling him around before nearly kissing him, and the section where Nadeko strips down offers good back and forth between Araragi and the only person who is more of a pervert than him: Kanbaru. It creates an interesting situation where Araragi almost seems tame and reserved by comparison.

Envelope vanquished. Only one stands in cajun's way now.

Hey, I'm not standing in anyone's way. Se my earlier comment here.

I think that whole idea is built of the faulty assumption that Araragi has a character.

You do realize this applies to both seasons, right?

No, because Hei isn't the protagonist of the second season. And all of the bad things are so much worse.

I've watched a bit of the first season, and I must say I never really saw Hei as that misanthopic.

He, uh, kills a ton of people, and also behaves identically to a sociopath with how he manipulates people for his own gain. I mean yeah they try to play it off as him being a "bastard with a heart of gold," but that's kind of hard to believe when he's so convincing a bastard.
