Bjergsen is the greatest midlane in the world
I feel that, with stronger direction, it might have been more effective. However the material (boys going to look for a soda spring?) isn't exactly 'meaty'.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a teenage boy so disinterested in pornography.

Glass Fleet 22-26

Really wish I was watching this on PC so I could screencap the one really wide-faced guy in Eimer's flashbacks. He about represents my feelings on deciding to do character-developing flashback-heavy episodes at the last possible minute.

And then the final episodes start and I'm pleased to see they've finally gotten around to having a
glass fleet
, but that winds up not mattering and eventually it just turns into... Naked
spirit-canoeing?
Sure, why not.

I'm not entirely sure what the fuck I just watched, but it was pretty revolutionary, I guess.

Also RIP
Ralph, your death was by far the most pointless.

It was kind of funny how
Ralph just got murdered and no one gave a crap.

I bet you didn't predict the Cleoetti ending. I don't think anyone could predict that.

Gintama 115-118 (Ryugu Arc)

gintama118.jpg

Hmm, I found this to be the weakest arc of Gintama yet. Maybe
Gin being turned into some borderline useless MegaDrive obsessed old man for most of the arc had something to do with it.
Saying that I still enjoyed it as a rather weak episode/arc of Gintama's still better than anything from most shows out there.

You know, this is what I was talking about when when I said that certain SHAFT trademarks work a lot better in Hidamari Sketch compared to other shows they have made. In their other works, these kinds of pretentious visual flourishes tend to distract your attention from the actual content, but since HidaSketch is a slice-of-life show set in an art school, it actually complements the substance.

It's little wonder why SHAFT continue to make HidaSketch seasons given the art school setting's a perfect fit for their incredibly ostentatious style. It's also kinda jarring to start watching this after finishing Soredemo as their trademark style seemed considerably toned down (for the better) compared to what you'd usually expect from their other works.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a teenage boy so disinterested in pornography.
Probably didn't have enough men for his taste.

Pretty much. Vetti almost seemed to mind, but then he kind of just let it go.

True! Especially with as late in the show as that happened, it was like
instant redemption for Vetti at the last possible second. I do wonder if his Cleo-half is going to make his Vetti-half get Michel a 'Sorry for roofying you' card, or if they're just cool now.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
I had this on the backlog for a while and now I regret not watching it sooner. It did not need to be 3 hours long, but that is my only real complaint. Everything else was exquisite, especially the tragic ending that wasn't. It reminded me of why I liked this series in the first place.

Oh you joker you.

By the way, I made this thread one month ago and we're already nearing 300 pages. The old thread lasted for 2 months at least.

Just finished Samurai Champloo. Really great last 3 episodes but I felt like it dragged on and really wasn't about anything for a while there. Great music of course.

Aquarion Evol 11

What is happening with Kagura in the other world is infinitely more interesting than what is happening at the academy. Looks like fun things are coming.

So where does the whole Lyrical Nanoha series fit into all the magical girl discussion?

It's a great series and the best magical girl thing I've seen (yes, I know, it's shonen action magical girl), which probably means that animeGAF hates it. Too bad for them, I like it quite a bit (the good parts of the franchise particularly, but I've read/watched the bad parts too...) and am definitely looking forward to the second movie, whenever it comes out this year.

... Basically, the first season, A's, and the first movie are good, while StrikerS is disappointing but not completely terrible. Of the mangas, the movie-spinoff manga is good, Force isn't very good (and has a male main character complete with multiple love interests too, exactly what this franchise did NOT need!). Vivid is okay I guess, but I haven't read much of that one. The best part of the franchise is A's.

It's not a magical girl anime, it's a mecha anime replaced with magical girls.

But making them magical girls makes it better than most mecha shows.

ooh. random gif I forgot to post.

Powder > ribbons

Because the message little girls need is, what you should care about most is makeup and hair. Great messaging there Precure... :(

I really liked Nanoha. Its pretty ridiculous how getting both series now can set you back over $600.
Dat Geneon mystique.

Yeah, it needs a re-release for sure.

Some good stuff getting missed.

It must be the repressing. Spoil it for me? Or can I look it up easily somewhere?

Yuki basically causes everything in Disappearance right? Her explanation is that Haruhi is dangerous blah blah. That connects directly to Endless Eight where she had to sit through all those repetitions which basically broke her.

Hoooooly shit at Fate Zero.
Had no idea it was so popular.
Also really really happy to see Mouretsu Space Pirates sell over Manabi line.

Kyon's explanation of Yuki's motives is her getting tired of Haruhi.

For some reason I thought Endless Eight came after Disappearance, then I realized the novels stories are all out of order.

It actually gets alot stupider when you consider all the time travelling and that everything basically revolves around July 7th 3 years ago their time.

I try not to think too much about it and just enjoy the Yukiservice.

Endless Eight takes place before, but was written after, if I remember well.
I believe the movie slightly changed one of Kyon's lines to reference that, actually.

EDIT:
Just checked, and while it's true that they added a direct reference to Endless Eight in the movie, it seems I was wrong about the first part (the Endless Eight story was published before the Suzumiya Haruhi no Shôshitsu book was released, at the very least).

I found out that ONE box of the CCS BD Box (of which there are 3) costs 300,000 yen (the other one costs 80k and I don't know about the other). That is insane and something that is impossible for me to understand.

Consider that the R1 uncut subbed Pioneer DVD set together costs over $500 used and over $800 new. Im not surprised that the bluray version is exponentially more valuable.

If there is a possibility that the entire boxset will cost you $5000 then there is something horribly horribly wrong.

Its a very highly demanded consistently excellent series in a popular genre. On top of that it is 70 episodes and in HD format. It makes sense that it would become such a valued set.
Someone does need to rescue the license so newer generations can enjoy the show without being 1%.
